Tonight's was a bit heavy on the snot'n'tears, wasn't it? If anyone can devise a way of Fletch responding quickly and successfully to his treatment and stopping Essie thinking that she should be able to carry on life as normal whilst she's undergoing chemo, please implement your plan ASAP.

Medani's torso was the only redeeming feature of this episode. I've no idea what the pills he bought were - any ideas?

Jeni is at least running a prostitute ring, so drugs are also highly possible

Optimist1 · 17/06/2021 11:49

Yes, I think a people trafficking/drug/prostitution set up is being hinted at.

I thought Jenni cut Evie off when she was trying to explain to Fletch where she and Andrei had gone to get money. My suspicion was that she knew the location and didn’t want Evie blabbing about it.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 17/06/2021 18:00

Poor Fletch. He deserves better.

LockdownCheeseToastie · 17/06/2021 18:04

The glucose thing was annoying- low glucose is hypoglycaemia but the subtitles said hyperglycaemia (high glucose) which obv wouldn’t need more glucose. As she was conscious when he diagnosed it oral glucose tablets would have been the best thing to use or a glucose drip- the orange glucagon syringe is only used when the patient is unconscious. steps off soapbox.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 17/06/2021 18:29

LockdownCheeseToastie the subtitles are often unreliable, but you would think their medical advisor would have got the actual treatment right. That was just a vehicle for Kian to have access to an open medicine cupboard.
I hope Dr Han doesn't get in trouble for not locking it.

SleepingStandingUp · 17/06/2021 18:31

Yes him running around the hospital looking for glucose was a bit of a clunky way
Would have made more sense that he was looking for it, something falls out, someone pages him urgently and he has to go so Kian offers to tidy up

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 17/06/2021 20:54

SleepingStandingUp yes, it seemed ludicrous when he was doing it.

somethinghastogive46 · 17/06/2021 22:27

Just caught up with this week's episode today, so fed up of Kian dribbling and whinging his way through the episodes, what a waste of a good looking man!!

The locum that they're waiting for that will save Evie's life..... that has to be Jac, right???

Really???? How did I miss that?
MyOtherProfile · 17/06/2021 23:15

Jac? Oh boy that would be perfect!

Bet Kush is kicking himself for taking the Holby gig now it's winding down.

I assume Kush
SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2021 00:21

@MyOtherProfile girl comes into Keller I think, and called Jeni. She was young, Evie's age.
claimedd her Mom would be there soon etc. Jeni told her to leave the hospital right now. There were bruises on her upper arm. As she swung out of bed she slipped into v high heels. She saw Jeni outside and Jeni was really aggressive, telling her not to come back here ever. It's Def dodgy. So it's conjecture but o rexkon teen prostitute ring run by Jeni

SophieB100 · 18/06/2021 04:58

My DD is an ICU nurse - she says that whoever the medical advisers are on Holby are often inaccurate. The times we used to watch it (when it was good) with me gripped by the storylines and her laughing and scoffing at the medical cock-ups, not just the really technical theatre stuff, but drips in the wrong way, machines with impossible readings, tubes not in the right place. She used to say you think they'd get the easy stuff right. Used to put me right off!

Looking forward to Kush arriving - hope he sweeps in soon to save the day! He'll get a few pulses racing!

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 18/06/2021 06:50

They said the locum they were waiting for was female. I was thinking more on the lines of Mo Ofanga.

MyOtherProfile · 18/06/2021 07:01

Thanks @SleepingStandingUp I have no idea how I missed that bit. I was probably doing a big yawn!

ThornAmongstRoses · 18/06/2021 07:12

I absolutely agree about the prostitution ring. I first felt that a few weeks ago when she was creepily watching Evie from a distance.....it was almost like she was eyeing her up in terms of how much money she could make from her.

My ‘shifty’ instincts were triggered then and each episode she says/does something that implies she’s involved I don’t kind of underground illegal activities.

SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2021 08:53

Yes!!! Hasn't Jac run off to Scotland to be near the brat I mean Emma? I love Mo
SleepingStandingUp · 18/06/2021 08:54

Altho sometimes the locums just an extra so we shouldn't get excited

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 18/06/2021 09:37

True. Or they never actually appear.

And undiagnosed diabetes would mean high blood sugar, so the subtitles were correct but the treatment wasn’t. Medical programmes always seem to get diabetes wrong, eg giving insulin to someone having a hypo (low blood sugar)
Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 22/06/2021 12:31

According to Digital Spy the BBC have apologised for giving the wrong treatment for diabetes.

spiderlight · 23/06/2021 11:23

Is it just me or was anyone else surprisingly unmoved by last night's episode? I was just so over the whole ridiculous Kian/Andre/Lucky scenario.

SleepingStandingUp · 23/06/2021 13:02

I'm sad he's died but I think the ripples from it will be tsunamic.

Fletch pushed him over the edge to an overdose. Jeong gave him access to the drugs. Who is an excellent actor. Lucky basically enabled it. Chloe couldn't save him. Andrei was a cog now without protection.

SleepingStandingUp · 23/06/2021 13:09

Dom is such an anal swab. I really thought this was his time to stop having his head stuck so far up his own arse but no, he's using it as collateral to manipulate Jeong. Jesus someone needs to bring him down a leg or too.
Poor Jeong. I like him and Josh and the Scouse nurse.
