That's so cute about the postcard Raahh Smile

PrivateSpidey · 12/05/2020 20:37

Sorry, my replies are totally out of sync Hmm Grin

Yes that blister was awful, what an annoying injury to get as well Sad

*Ro8er" Grin

Raahh · 12/05/2020 20:43

Spidey it would be funny, if Sue hadn't been interviewing Roger wearing a t-shirt saying exactly that!!

I love how optimistic his PR team are. Grin

Raahh · 12/05/2020 20:44

(interviewing him after the match )

Fizzywinegum · 12/05/2020 21:33

What a coincidence with the scones Jane - I think most of them were overwerked (said in a Paul Hollywood accent Grin)

Listening to David Law talking about commentating on the Cilic/Federer match brought it all back to me with Marin crying under his towel at the change of ends Sad

I think he had a Twitter fall out with Piers Morgan or something after his reaction - it just confirmed to me what a dick PM is.

JaneJeffer · 12/05/2020 21:49

Wow!

Shock do you think the plane is being flown by famous aviator, Roland Garros?!? Remember when the press conference journalists were asking all the players if they knew who RG was Grin

Re the Ro8er t-shirt, I would be scared of jinxing myself with that. Maybe Fed isn't superstitious? Unlike a lot of other tennis players...

Raahh · 13/05/2020 08:32

Whoop! RaahhDog has a hair-do appointment on the 30th! I doubt he will be as thrilled by this as me (he hates being groomed, hasn't been since January 2nd(!), and is a bit matted around his legs), but I am delighted.

magimedi · 13/05/2020 08:52

Brilliant news, Raahh.

I slept until 7.10 this morning - usually awake by 6 so that was nice.

The air BNB where we were meant to be staying when visting France has refunded deposit & said they are looking forward to opening as soon as they can, so that was another bit of good news. Should be halfway across the Channel at this very moment but am feeling far more hopeful about a visit before 2020.

kazzaD66 · 13/05/2020 09:18

Good news Raahh and magi

Yes private I'll keep the glace cherries for this year's Christmas cake. DS saw them in the cupboard the other day and said he bet they were well out of date. I said they were good until the end of October, so they would go in this year's cake. He didn't think that was a good idea, thought I should throw them! He has no idea Grin

Received an email from the LTA about how to play tennis whilst observing social distancing rules. Haven't read the detail yet. DS has also had an email from his tennis coach, saying that group lessons are obviously still suspended but that he could now give individual lessons. I just wonder how you get round the problem of handling the same tennis balls?

Btw, what's this subscribing to Mumsnet Premium that keeps appearing every time I go into MN?

PrivateSpidey · 13/05/2020 09:42

Great news Raahh and magi!

V pleased on both counts.

kazza you made me laugh about your DS and the glace cherries Grin I nearly always end up using some of last year's elderly dried fruit in this year's cake Grin and they are all none the wiser!

We've also had an update from our tennis club along the same lines. I heard something about bringing your own tennis balls and initialling them but not sure if that's the "official" advice or just a rumour! Ours isn't even open yet as far as I know.

Might stick to jigsaws for the time being.

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2020 10:15

He didn't think that was a good idea, thought I should throw them! He has no idea
Best to keep this type of info to oneself I find. Why are men so obsessed with best before dates?!

Nice to hear some things are trying to return to normal even if it's a new type of normal.

kazza MN set up the premium thing as they were losing out on advertising due to the pandemic. Apparently you don't get ads if you use it. There was a bit of a kerfuffle about it a while back. Someone set up a new chat board elsewhere which some people defected to.

Is anyone watching The Sewing Bee - they’re doing tennis outfits - DH said that this was my ideal tv combo - if they were making cakes as well it would be even better Smile

Fizzywinegum · 13/05/2020 21:44

Bethanie Mattek-Sands is someone’s Style inspiration and someone is making an outfit for Serena - looks a bit too tasteful!

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2020 21:58

Not watching but Serena would be in her element on there designing outfits.

I'm stuffing my face with DS1's latest creation which has brownie on the bottom and biscuit on the top.

I keep having to watch on catch up because I always forget it's on! Will watch tomorrow. I hope someone made some Agassi style shorts?!

Jane that sounds like a great creation. I've developed a supper habit (as in pre-bedtime snack) during lockdown. Have just had some lemon curd on toast.

Raahh · 14/05/2020 09:00

I was meant to watch Sewing Bee- and fell asleep, just as it started Blush. I think it's on too late anyway- 8pm would be betterGrin.

I will catch up later.

I can already feel the 'groundhog vibes' getting to me, and it is only 9am.

Grin
magimedi · 14/05/2020 09:16

Know exactly what you mean by the groundhog feeling, Raahh.

The days seem very long but the weeks seem to fly past - I can never believe it's Saturday again (when it is!) when I feel like I'm always changing the bed!

Raahh · 14/05/2020 09:23

magi that's just it- the days go on forever, but it's Thursday again- and the neighbours will be out clapping at 8pm (are we still doing that?).

At the same time, the VE day stuff feels like ages ago- and it was last Friday! Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 14/05/2020 10:35

I agree about Groundhog Day, with the days going slowly but the weeks going quickly Hmm

It’s the Repair Shop for us on a Wednesday night - that always seems to come round quickly. I also agree that 9pm is too late for Sewing Bee - I just about managed to stay awake Grin

I saw two people on Breakfast telly playing tennis but they weren’t allowed to serve because it meant touching the ball - really not sure how that is all going to work Hmm

We are still clapping on a Thursday but it did seem a bit quieter last week.

JaneJeffer · 14/05/2020 11:16

Time is so strange now. Easter seems like a year ago.

OP posts:
Raahh · 14/05/2020 11:38

Tennis - without serving/touching the ball?

Erm. Football then?

How bizarre.

Grin

I have just walked the dog- there were so many people at the park, it was strange. Yesterday I saw a woman throwing whole apples into the water- I'm not sure ducks can eat whole apples. Hmm.Maye she was aiming at them? In fact, she seemed to have a whole picnic spread out on the wall of the bridge, and then just started throwing things into the water. Confused.

Dh joked yesterday we should go to a garden centre. Just because. I can't remember the last time we went to a garden centre, together anyway. We don't even really have a garden Grin.

Raahh · 14/05/2020 11:40

Or maybe tennis without touching the ball is more like lacrosse? Or hurling? Just flick the ball over the net? Grin.

JaneJeffer · 14/05/2020 11:50

Now a hurling/tennis mashup sounds fun. I think Kyrgios would be good at that Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 14/05/2020 12:00

Jane I can imagine Dick would love it- right up his streetGrin.
