Oh and the Bundesliga have a cardboard cutout crowd now. If you pay €19 they'll add you to it Grin

Raahh · 23/05/2020 19:59

Oh, I love that idea. I want to be a cardboard cutout. GrinIt's a shame RG aren't doing that- I could be a cardboard cut out on one of the new seats Grin.

I saw a picture of the roof on Chatrier, I'm not a fan. Makes a beautiful open stadium look so clastrophobic. I'm sure Mac will be happy though. Grin

I did a bad thing today. I went to my mother's house with a birthday cake for her partner. DD2 and I sat in the garden (though it was very windy) at a safe distance Grin.
We got caterpillar cake. Grin It was lovely to actually see her when I spoke to her ( I ring her most days).

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2020 20:45

Caterpillar cake Grin it's rainy and foggy here.

OP posts:
Raahh · 23/05/2020 20:51

Jane we have done extensive reseach over the past 17 years, into which supermarket does the best Caterpillar cake. They are compulsory at birthdays.Grin. We have decided Asda are the best. And cheapest. So win-win Grin (Sainsbury's was the worst, btw)

I have a feeling rain is on it's way here. Which is fine, if the wind drops.

JaneJeffer · 23/05/2020 22:20

You should get a job with The Good Housekeeping Institute Raahh Grin

Fizzywinegum · 23/05/2020 22:41

Raahh I hope you had a nice time with your DM and her partner - I think people have to make their own minds up (as many government people seem to have been doing for a while Hmm). Is the Asda caterpillar cake called Clyde? Grin

I saw my DM in her garden on our birthday - I think the risk is fairly minimal outside.

I also like the idea of being a cardboard cutout in the crowd. The Tennis Podcast is doing a tennis Re-Lived programme for the whole of the French open starting with Yannick Noah v Mats Wilander tomorrow and then they’ve got an interview with Yannick - I can’t work out how to watch the matches though Confused

Raahh · 24/05/2020 11:30

Well, DD2 and I are watching 'Arthur Christmas'. Grin

Might as well, no idea what day it is anyway Grin.

kazzaD66 · 24/05/2020 13:20

Had a lovely walk this morning (although DH persuaded me to take a route twice as long as I had planned!) Walking across some of the fields, the earth is so dry, there are massive cracks in it not usually seen until August!

DH was sooo happy when it started to rain yesterday. Unfortunately, it lasted all of 5 minutes and had dried up within 20 minutes Grin

For those of you who liked the shows Twenty Twelve and W1A, I saw via the BBC homepage just now that the team have posted on YouTube a new video of a W1A virtual Zoom meeting. Very funny, if you like that sort of thing. May have to watch it again later Grin

PrivateSpidey · 24/05/2020 15:54

It's really dry by us as well kazza. And also really windy! What's that about - surely that's weird for this time of year?? Hmm

Hope you enjoyed Arthur Christmas Raahh Grin why not, as you say? I love that film, especially the Grandad character Grin

There are loads of old films on iPlayer at the moment so I've been watching those, another good way to get the front room to yourself!! Grin

And I keep seeing posts on twitter etc about how RG should have started today Sad

Fizzywinegum · 24/05/2020 16:24

I’m wearing Christmas socks - all my normal socks have developed holes!

DH and DSs are watching Blazing Saddles Grin

magimedi · 24/05/2020 17:34

"And also really windy! What's that about - surely that's weird for this time of year?? "

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May................

Amazingly dry here - I don't think we have had any significant rain since lockdown started.

I've been watching Number Blocks at the behest of 5 year old GC!! Have to keep up Grin

PrivateSpidey · 24/05/2020 18:00

Grin at Number Blocks, enjoy magi!

Yes you're right of course about May, I was shockingly forgetting Shakespeare there (and I did English A Level) Grin

Good work with the Christmas socks Fizzy! I put loads of winter stuff away yesterday so sod's law it'll probably turn freezing now Hmm

JaneJeffer · 24/05/2020 18:39

Thy eternal summer shall not fade magi Grin

Beautiful day here.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 25/05/2020 10:55

DS2 is doing his summer exams online this week. The stress!! Aargh!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 25/05/2020 11:19

Oh dear Jane that must be hard and stressful. Good luck to DS2.

I’m trying not to think that I normally spend this Bank Holiday Monday watching the French Open - I think the Tennis Podcast might be talking about the Lendl/Mac final today - might have a listen while I do some gardening.

I was reading in the paper about a German phrase - corona speck that translates to corona bacon which means the extra weight gained during lockdown - I’m definitely carrying some extra corona speck Hmm

magimedi · 25/05/2020 11:33

Jane that must be hell.

My tennis mad neighbour has a BIG birthday today - she should have been in Paris sitting on Chatrier. So sad for her.

JaneJeffer · 25/05/2020 12:23

This time last year DS1 was driving me nuts doing his Jim Courier impersonation and drawling Court Philippe Chatrier every time anyone mentioned it. I wouldn't complain this year! He's gone to see his girlfriend today. They haven't met up since the 2km thing came in whenever that was. I don't think there will be any social distancing going on somehow.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 25/05/2020 13:11

I just accidentally clicked on my FlashScore app and realised I haven't used it for ages Sad

All Creatures Great and Small is on BBC4. Happy days!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 26/05/2020 09:27

I saw that Jane - might need to watch - I loved it when it was first on Smile

Hope everyone is OK - the weather is gorgeous here.

Shopping done - slightly more civilised this week - phew.

magimedi · 26/05/2020 10:51

Have just done my shopping & it was hellish - lots of peopled not obeying the 2M rule - all of them men! Are their willies magic anti-corona wands?

Hot & grumpy right now!!

Fizzywinegum · 26/05/2020 10:58

Oh dear that doesn’t sound good magi - some people just don’t seem to care any more Sad

Grin at magic anti corona willy wands though! They are just dicks!

Hope you manage to cool down and relax.

Shopping seems to take up the whole of my Tuesday these days - going to the shop, queuing, packing it all into the car, unpacking it all, sorting it out for relevant people and then dropping it off Hmm

Raahh · 26/05/2020 13:18

It's not good, Magi -dh has been doing the majority of the shopping (though I have been a couple of time the past week or so) and he says it is always men causing the problems. It really stresses him out.

The ATP page has posted on FB about the incident last year when Stan Bear helped a young boy in the crowd who was separated from him dad, and getting squashed by autograph hunters. Still makes me warm and fuzzy.

Raahh · 26/05/2020 13:19

anti corona willy wands could be a massive seller though- you need to get on Dragon's Den Grin.

Raahh · 26/05/2020 13:39

It's not fair.

I should be listening to Fabrice trying to make conversation with Jim Courier and discussing how rubbish the Nike kit is.

Bloody pandemic. Sad .
