No tennis never bothered us before so why change now? TennisGrin

Grin Too right! We'll keep things going ready for when they all get going again.

Thanks for starting this, Jane.

PrivateSpidey · 19/03/2020 10:45

Thanks Jane! I couldn't be without this thread, tennis or not!

Tennis
PrivateSpidey · 19/03/2020 10:49

Straw-grasping alert:

Eurosport 2 is about to show some highlights of some tennis!! Something to do with the Olympics.

Fizzywinegum · 19/03/2020 10:49

Thanks Jane - I immediately thought of Father Ted and My Lovely Horse when you said that you were going to take up the keyboard Grin

Actually, watching Father Ted might cheer me up Smile

Feeling a little less anxious today - working from home is a bit weird - I’m making sure that I move around a bit and going for a walk last night helped so I’m going to try and do that everyday.

Hope everyone is well Flowers

Went to do my normal Thursday weekly shop after dropping DS at school and couldn't believe how busy it was. Normally, there's barely anyone there. So many empty shelves at 8.40am. Apparently, they were queuing for the doors to open at 8am! Crazy!

Now waiting to hear about exam plans. Poor DS should have been taking GCSEs in May Sad

Stay well everyone.

kazzaD66 · 19/03/2020 11:02

And thanks for the new thread Jane Grin

Fizzywinegum · 19/03/2020 11:12

Poor DS kazza Sad

My DS1 is in his final year at uni - it’s all just ended - he can finish his work etc online but maybe won’t be seeing his uni mates again, might not have a graduation Sad

PrivateSpidey · 19/03/2020 11:26

Ah I'm so sorry for your DSs you two Sad

It's awful, I hope they work something out with the exam grades. Hopefully your DS will be able to have a graduation too Fizzy. It's such a shame for them.

Meanwhile I'm watching Steffi Graf, my childhood heroine, win her Olympic Golden Slam match courtesy of Eurosport. So that's taken my mind off things very slightly!!

Fizzywinegum · 19/03/2020 11:34

Thanks Spidey - I’m sure they’ll sort something out

Enjoy the retro tennis Smile

magimedi · 19/03/2020 11:37

Sorry to hear about the disappointment for the kids - tough for them.

Private - My phone went so I didn't get back to finish the old thread with you Grin You win - this time!

JaneJeffer · 19/03/2020 11:50

I went to put that on Private but the Xbox is plugged into the kitchen telly and I couldn't be bothered rejigging everything so I took the dog out instead. I did see an ad saying Michelle Keegan is going to be on ITV chatting about Our Girl before I gave up.

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 19/03/2020 12:09

Grin Glad you were alert to any potential Our Girl updates Jane

The Olympics programme was quite good, although it didn't show much actual tennis (just the odd winning point here and there). The best thing about it was the hairstyles Grin

They were interviewing Mats Wilander about the 88 Olympics, and he pointed out he won the US Open that year, and Steffi won the women's - a week later Steffi went to Seoul and won the gold medal, while Mats went on holiday to Bermuda Grin

magi to be fair I only waited about 30 seconds to see if you'd post on the old thread!
Grin

I was out this morning- thanks for the new thread, Jane Grin

Ah well done Stan Bear

We need more tennis player content! ASAP!!

JaneJeffer · 20/03/2020 00:24

I think Djok has fled to an underground bunker with a year's supply of celery.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 20/03/2020 08:25

Grin Jane - let’s hope that Djok stays in his bunker!

Got to love Stan Bear - (or maybe not if you’re magi Smile)

It must be quite hard for the tennis players to keep up their fitness not knowing when they’re next going to play competitively although I suppose by nature they’re a pretty self motivated bunch.

Hope Stan keeps disciplined and doesn’t hit the burgers and wine too hard!

magimedi · 20/03/2020 09:30

Even I appreciate Stan's humor at this time. Not saying I love him or want him to win................... Flowers

Raahh · 20/03/2020 09:47

StanBear Grin

His posts are funny.

This has been a long week.

PrivateSpidey · 20/03/2020 10:14

It has. I saw a post saying "this week has been a really long year". It should have been the IW semi finals today! Even though it's approx a hundred years since it was cancelled Confused

I hope Stan keeps the posts coming. I agree Fizzy that tennis players are already super motivated, and mentally tough as well, but it must still be so weird.

JaneJeffer · 20/03/2020 15:27

Tim is on Gods of the Game on Comedy Central next Thursday 8.30. I haven't seen it before but it's sportspeople taking on members of the public in various challenges. Might be a laugh.

OP posts:
Raahh · 20/03/2020 16:25

Jane that sounds fun. We need something funny.

I now have everyone off, as DD2 has now finished school. I was speaking to her teacher (his mum teaches at the school too, and has taught all 3 of mine at some point ), he said it felt like a very odd day. He has no idea at the moment how many children are likely to be in on Monday. There were only 17 in is class today, before the official finish point.

I like my 'me' time. The dog is going to get lots of short walks, to get me out of the way, I can see that happening.

Fizzywinegum · 20/03/2020 16:45

That Tim thing sounds good Jane - he can be quite funny - he’ll probably have a bit of spare time on his hands if Wimbledon doesn’t go ahead as planned Sad

I know what you mean about alone time Raahh - I’m the same. I felt a bit cooped up last night when we were all in the front room together (usually someone is at college, playing footy, or at the pub). DH is still at work. Working from home is a bit weird - somebody tried to do an impromptu video conference today. I refused to be filmed as I wasn’t camera ready Grin. At least I wasn’t in my pjs!

I’m not sure if our local library knows something but I borrowed some books today and they’re not due back until August Shock

kazzaD66 · 20/03/2020 16:49

I felt quite sad picking DS up today and he's one of what may only be a few that are staying on for the sixth form. It seems most of his year are chosing to go to sixth form colleges. I made him stand in the same spot at the front of the house as he did on his first day at his school in September 2015, and took a photo of him in his uniform for probably the last time. He looks so different to the 2015 photo. He won't wear uniform in the sixth form, just smart business wear!
I'm a soppy sod at times Grin

Fizzywinegum · 20/03/2020 16:51

Ah that’s sweet kazza Smile
