Changed the name of this thread as we were very upset with the ending of series 3 out in Bangladesh! Waiting out for news of series 4 and hoping it might not be long now. In the meantime, we are reviewing the seven series of Soldier Soldier.

At the risk of mentioning Call the Midwife - there is a lot of teal on show!

eejittwo · 26/03/2020 21:36

Screen has frozen - I have sound but no vision and am doing this on the phone. Just getting the bollocking after the karaoke.

eejittwo · 26/03/2020 21:37

I like ‘weapons grade flange flannel. Haven’t a clue what it means but it sounds good.

Ilovelblue · 26/03/2020 21:39

Yes, Mimi and Prof together by the end of this series.

Oh no, Throbber needs a boot up the backside. I still can't believe he made it through basic training.

So, Prof has been persuaded to give a history lesson - interesting idea, wonder how that will go down.

Ahh, Mimi is nice to him.

Ilovelblue · 26/03/2020 21:42

I do like the history lesson on Afghan. I think it's been cleverly done.

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2020 21:42

I suppose this is a different way of giving us the history lesson - an actual, real history lesson - ha ha! Nice one TG!!

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2020 21:45

My grandfather was in Afghanistan in the 1920's in the army - he was too young to fight in WW1 but joined up in the early 20's because there was no work to be had. Got some interesting photos of him.

Ilovelblue · 26/03/2020 21:46

That's fascinating Rhu. Did you know him?

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2020 21:46

Oh dear, incident ahead in the street. Officer has frozen and needs to be prompted what to do. Kingy knows best. Everyone is questioning orders. Then Mimi sees what is about to happen.

Gosh that was scary and horrifying!

eejittwo · 26/03/2020 21:47

Mind you, if his mother was a bump in 1969, what age was she when she had the Prof and what age is the Prof?

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2020 21:48

Yes ilove - always hard to marry the images of such a young man and the elderly man I remember.

Here's the angry American doctor - can't be that good looking for nothing....

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2020 21:53

Prof's mother would be 51, so Prof could be late 20's/30 if he's been a qualified teacher.

Officer has to admit he was wrong and Kingy has covered for him.

Georgie is suffering uncomfortable memories - a shower moment without the lad's backsides in it this time.

Ilovelblue · 26/03/2020 21:53

I like the way Georgie is mentoring Mimi. She seems so young and is so inexperienced

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2020 21:54

I wonder what the true story is with Mimi. Perhaps her parents are proud of her at all. She certainly doesn't seem inclined to speak to them.

Rhubarb01 · 26/03/2020 21:56

Must be funny having Fingers as a brother-in-law.

Now Georgie finds out that an enemy from her past is still around and it most definitely haunts her. Is she ready for this??

Heartbreaking for her - poor Georgie.

Ilovelblue · 26/03/2020 21:56

Georgie hears about Omar again. That must bring back such terrible memories. Lt Hurst mentions Elvis's name in such a matter of fact way. Flashback after flashback.

I CANNOT WATCH ELVIS'S BURNED FACE.

Looks like lots of action in next week's episode.

eejittwo · 26/03/2020 22:07

NEITHER CAN I!
As for next week, the lieutenant doesn't seem to be very sensitive or he hasn't got the background ..

happilybemused · 27/03/2020 13:30

Apparently it didn't work out between CJ and Georgie.

He decided to leave the army and reunite with Molly.

Georgie supported his decision

happilybemused · 27/03/2020 19:54

Show creator Tony Grounds -

During a recent press event, he explained: "[Captain James] left the Army, and has gone back, and tried to make it work with Molly Dawes, who is his wife. [Georgie] thought it was the right decision. She encouraged him, and supported him in that. And she stayed with the army."

happilybemused · 27/03/2020 19:57

Just in case anyone thought I was writing fan fiction after going up the walls

Ilovelblue · 27/03/2020 22:11

Hi there happily - we are big Captain James fans on here (and Elvis too but we all know he's been blown up by a bomb). We do know that CJ has left the army but we were curious to know whether it is actually stated in the series or whether Tony Grounds is relying on us having followed him on social media etc.

Have you watched all the series or are you a newcomer? For myself, Rhu and Magi, we are fans of the first series and we fell in love with CJ ourselves! However, with the arrival of Elvis in series 2, we had split loyalties. eejit is most definitely a fan of Elvis.

At least this new series is one bright thing to cheer us up at this time of doom and gloom!

This popped up in my Google newsfeed earlier. It was quite interesting to see some of the new characters.
