I have been watching this cheesy, schmaltzy nonsense on Netflix

Nurse moves to the sticks to escape her past

Encounters good looking over helpful barman and busybody locals

Just teetering on the edge of being utterly dreadful Grin

A bit like a soap. Lighthearted froth.

Recommended.

Re location, it looks like the Humboldt River so Humboldt County. Eureka the main town sort of like Clear Springs. I would bet that is where it is filmed. (Californian here)

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 10/01/2020 21:06

I love these kind of things. Most are awful but they’re all so wonderful.
Anyone remember men in trees?

BunnytheBlueWhale · 10/01/2020 21:25

Men in Trees?

No. Was it a a tv show?

I did love Hart of Dixie but don’t know where I can watch that now. It was filmed in the same set as gilmore girls too 🤓

BobLobLawLLB · 10/01/2020 21:40

GoGoLego i love When calls the Heart too. Even the actors looked bemused!

It's filmed around Vancouver and British Columbia GrinGrinGrin

Yes, loved Virgin River & Chesapeake Shores, utter shite brilliance.

Will seek out Everwood, loved GG. Also watched & rewatched White Collar, I’ve loved it.

BunnytheBlueWhale · 10/01/2020 21:49

I’m at home on this thread Grin

UptightFunk · 10/01/2020 21:50

@BunnytheBlueWhale I've just watched all of Northern Rescue and loved it.

Need others to watch but have watched pretty much all those mentioned on this thread already 🤦🏼‍♀️

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 10/01/2020 21:54

I'm not sure Virgin River is filmed outside much at all though!!

BunnytheBlueWhale · 10/01/2020 21:54

@UptightFunk I just started Northern Rescue and then came on MN and started watching Chesapeake Shores so I have those to get through but so far not as good as GG or Hart of Dixie...

Not sure I’m keen on the actress for the main character in Chesapeake 🤔

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 10/01/2020 23:28

This is men in trees

I’ve just finished watching this and loved it. It reminded me of something I watched last year, that might have been set in New Zealand where a journalists wife died, and he moved his family to a small town. It was recommended to me on here when I was mourning the end of The Heart Guy.

I love this sort of thing, but really really struggled through two episodes of Gilmour Girls which I expected to love, but absolutely hated. Do I need to try harder?

Chesapeake Shores next I think. Is The Heart of Dixie on anywhere?

AnneOfAvonlea · 12/01/2020 19:30

I binge watched this and loved it. Like a modern dawson's creek for adults where not much happens.
I will try Chesapeake shores now on the basis of this thread

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 12/01/2020 19:35

It was doing so well and then somewhere during filming episode 8 they obviously got the nod for series 2 and so spent ep 9 throwing a few new storylines in and then ep 10 setting up series 2 rather than resolving anything.

I've watched and rewatched Gilmore Girls over the years but after watching a Year Of I'm not sure I could go back.

SardineJam · 12/01/2020 19:43

I love how Jack is never really working either, can always just pop out and let the bar run itself 😁

BunnytheBlueWhale · 12/01/2020 20:59

I’m not sure where Hart of Dixie is, maybe amazon. I have Netflix and sky and it’s not on there

BrieAndChilli · 12/01/2020 21:02

I haven’t found Hart of Dixie anywhere to watch for free.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 12/01/2020 21:14

I think the journalist in New Zealand is 500 words.
I’m beginning to think this could be my specialist subject on mastermind.

I’m currently near the end of Mcleods daughters having watched every other antipodean programme I could find lately

BunnytheBlueWhale · 12/01/2020 21:19

Where can I watch 500 words? Is it worth a watch?

ConfidingFish · 12/01/2020 21:28

I watched this before Christmas, I lost an entire morning as I couldn't stop watching. We call this stuff Hallmark Schmaltz. But we love it. It is like Mills and Boon on the screen.

I was also heavily invested in When Calls the Heart. I have rewatched GG as I saw it when it came out and my Mum was still alive and watched it too. I wanted to relive it, but Logan pisses me right off. Annoying arse.

I really want Hart of Dixie but can never find it anywhere. I even recently rewatched Roswell Grin

Thank you whoever made Amazon Prime and Netflix. You are adored.

Gogolego · 12/01/2020 21:30

I've discovered that amazon prime has a bunch of 00s teen drama series on it. Currently rewatching the OC and one tree hill is also on there. (I don't think you have to pay extra like sometimes you have to )

Gogolego · 12/01/2020 21:32

Off to check out Everwood sounds right up my street !

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 12/01/2020 21:40

Typo on my part. It’s 800 words. I think it’s on prime now but it may not be free with prime.

BrieAndChilli · 12/01/2020 21:41

I’ve very recently rewatched all of the OC and one tree hill. Still loved them!

BunnytheBlueWhale · 13/01/2020 11:26

Hmm I don’t have Prime and don’t think I can justify another streaming service! We have Netflix and Now TV (Sky and thinking of cancelling one of those) not that I would...
