I have been watching this cheesy, schmaltzy nonsense on Netflix

Nurse moves to the sticks to escape her past

Encounters good looking over helpful barman and busybody locals

Just teetering on the edge of being utterly dreadful Grin

A bit like a soap. Lighthearted froth.

Recommended.

Also loving Preacher.

Could do with more external shots though of the area. I’m struggling to picture a town when we only get to see internal locations and cars driving through forests.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 15/12/2019 20:55

This sounds like one for me. I love Martin Henderson.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 15/12/2019 20:58

The nurse actress was last in The Walking Dead.

Now, that's a change of genre.

jay55 · 15/12/2019 20:58

Loved it, perfect mindless viewing.

I gave up on Chesapeake shores as it kept trying proper storylines that I couldn't process at the time.

Uncompromisingwoman · 15/12/2019 21:01

Ha - watching it now! Thoroughly enjoyable, mindless rubbish. Smile

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 15/12/2019 21:03

Terrible terrible stereotypes, loved every minute

GoGoLego · 15/12/2019 21:15

The main guy from the illegal pot farm is Wade from Heartland ( Ty's stepdad)

VanyaHargreeves · 15/12/2019 21:25

I think it is saved by the fact that the main leads are better than the material and clearly got involved under false pretences Grin

Because it's cheap Grin

Binged this this morning- 5 episodes in. Love it but it’s so bad! Can’t wait to watch the rest.

GoGoLego · 15/12/2019 21:57

Another corker is When Calls the Heart. There's several seasons of it and got bored of I might go back to it soon though

Llareggub · 15/12/2019 22:08

I have been binging on the Last Ship on amazon prime. Not quite the same genre but equally terrible, and addictive. Plus, it has Eric Dane.

Samcro · 15/12/2019 22:36

I love heartland and chesepeak shores, so will give this a go

soupforbrains · 15/12/2019 22:59

Am loving this. Unlike other PP who said they like Schitts Creek but didn't like think I found SC predictably from the outset and boringly so after 4-5 eps.

This though I find quite engaging. I want to know what the background to Paige/'Michelle' is and also see what happens between her and preacher. Etc.

ClientListQueen · 15/12/2019 23:36

I love it! I have watched all of heartland too Smile perfect escape/comfort TV

VanyaHargreeves · 15/12/2019 23:36

Hope though.

She needs an absolute tongue lashing and the show is too nice to her.

Preacher is the perfect TV crush, he's hot, he can cook and he is less prone to putting up with bullshit than the others.

bluetongue · 16/12/2019 07:57

I’ve just started watching this. Did the trick when I was feeling a bit low and teary.

Love the location (I’m a snow and mountains kind of gal).

GoGoLego · 16/12/2019 16:33

Vanya it's that stroppy pouty look she does when doc doesn't give in

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 16/12/2019 16:49

I finished it.

It was so awful I loved every minute. Hope they get commissioned for a second series.

VanyaHargreeves · 16/12/2019 16:57

Yes Lego and the self righteousness of it!

soupforbrains Oh no, you gave up before the very best bit! FInd the episode in the last series where Davids boyfriend, played by lovely talented Noah Reid sings Simply the Best to an acoustic guitar. You will never hear a better version, so moving, never really listened to the lyrics before.

viques · 16/12/2019 18:40

Ps it's on YouTube , but I prefer the way he sings it on the programme, slightly slower.

squashyhat · 16/12/2019 18:45

Excellent! I am taking a break from my second viewing of Heartland because I love it so much I just binge watch but don't want it to end. This will fill the gap for a while Grin

Read the blurb on Netflix. Decided hates stuff like that. Goes on Mumsnet and this thread. Watches all 10 episodes in a day. Loved it Blush
