Finally got round to watching it this evening. Love Motsi. I absolutely loathe Shirley- there’s always some female contestant she takes an absolute dislike to.

covetingthepreciousthings · 22/09/2019 22:04

Oh actually yes I agree that Faye was robbed too, she was more deserving over Stacey & KKFG.

I would like Joe Varney to win, he does seem like a good teacher too & good choreography , although I usually find it hard to take my eyes off his dancing..

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 22:11

Oh def think Danny should have cried and told some sob stories and mentioned his nan just to win. Has anyone heard him singing? He's got a lovely voice.

Pros who deserve to win - def want to see Oti win, Giovanni, and also Janette just for the years she's put in!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/09/2019 22:12

I think it was someone on my FB Strictly group who said that Faye should have got a special award for making it to the final without leaving her husband or snogging a pro. Grin

Marking my place with my own hashtag #ididntreallylikedannythatmuch

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 22/09/2019 22:17

I don't think Janette will ever win, she's had some fab partners but always manages to muck it up with dodgy choreography or not teaching them enough technique. I still blame her for the Aston fiasco, Craig was right that was not a Viennese waltz, and Melvin Odoom (sp?) shouldn't have gone out as early as he did either.

I've grown to like Giovanni better. I didn't like him much when he started and he was horrible to Laura thingy in his second season, but he's got a lot better at mentoring his celebs and working around their weaknesses instead of blaming them.

DerbyshireOatcake · 22/09/2019 22:20

Colin Jackson woz robbed.

Yes, it was 2005 and I'm still bitter.

Will never forgive Erin for that one 🙈🙈🙈😡

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/09/2019 22:20

I loved Faye. Really wanted her to win, and also really wanted Giovanni and Debbie to win as well. Giovanni's going to be the new KFG in terms of always the bridesmaid never the bride, I think!

xsquared · 22/09/2019 22:25

Yes to Faye being robbed in the final last year. Her show dance was absolutely gorgeous.

I didn't mind Stacey winning as her personality and work ethic throughout the show won me over, even though I'm not keen on KFG. However, her show dance, for me, was very lacklustre and messy.

Colin Jackson was robbed by those damn puppets!!

Clawdy · 22/09/2019 22:52

Just checking in.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 22/09/2019 22:54

I watched it earlier today and loved it - thought it was fantastic, especially for a first show. I loved everyone and loved Motsi and the other judges too. Hope they keep up this standard of programme and the dancers do keep getting better.

Rhubarb01 · 22/09/2019 22:56

I can still remember the muted clapping which the puppet dance produced and Erin's baffled/annoyed expression, swiftly followed by the realisation that she'd made a huge clanger with that idea. Poor Colin he was such a lovely dancer - definitely robbed.

ChicCroissant · 22/09/2019 23:06

Colin - IIRC Erin said she used the puppets because she wanted to show he could lead but I think she realised during the judges comments that it hadn't come off that way. I haven't watched that again, may have to brave YouTube. Colin is the name that comes up most often in the robbed stakes, IMO!

I watched Debbie's 'journey' on YT recently and I wonder how she didn't win now - she was good.

DianaPrinceRocks · 22/09/2019 23:09

Checking in to sound like an old gimmer but I agree with this:

Haven't really warmed to Saffron yet and I see that she's also used the "doing it for my nan" line like Joe did last year.

I think anyone who refers to themselves as a star, especially a "social media star", deserves kicking off the show pronto Angry.

I loved Kelvin - he's so talented but smiley and humble so far I actually can't wait to see him dance again.

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 23:09

Imagine if Colin has danced with Oti or Katta instead (I know it was before their time!)

xsquared · 22/09/2019 23:24

Monkseal's Blog is out!

Kelvin reminded me of Austin Healy, he was very pumped up when he started Strictly.

ChicCroissant · 22/09/2019 23:39

I just watched the Colin and Erin showdance again Sad

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/09/2019 23:53

Melvin Odoom went out because Anastacia wouldn't do the DO
Darren Gough was always going to place ahead of Colin Jackson even before Puppetgate as his public vote was so much stronger
For any DWTS followers for my money James Hinchcliffe wuz robbed

KitchenDancefloor · 23/09/2019 00:23

Not a placemark. Just a little hello to my fave MN threads of all time because my app update means the bookmark buttons have vanished (any other apple users ready to take a hammer to their phones, or is it just the Kitchen household?)

Good first week for variety. Disappointed Chris Ramsey wasn't better as he's the only sleb I really knew of well. It gives him a good j-word start point though if he is popular enough to survive a few weeks.

Kelvin was a very pleasant surprise.

Will is probably going to be my favourite.

I still don't know how being a vlogger is either a profession or worthy of being a strictly sleb. My kids utterly disagree and love the 'hi guys/follow me' schtick.

I love Anneka's joy. She reminded me of Deborah Meadon who is still one of my favourite slebs because she was so GRATEFUL to have the experience.

RolyWatts · 23/09/2019 00:50

So what exactly did Shirley say to Honey.... I was being distracted by children dancing in front of the telly. I only caught the snippy "quite nice" bit.

unique1986 · 23/09/2019 01:48

Karim is 25. He s been on CBB for a few years.

I think anyone who refers to themselves as a star, especially a "social media star", deserves kicking off the show pronto

To be fair, that's clearly the title that the BBC have given her. Joe Sugg was called the same. No idea why - maybe because 'Youtuber' would be using the name of a business?

I'm clearly not her target audience, on account of being a million years old, but she creates multiple videos a week that get hundreds of thousands of views. That is kind of a skill isn't it? Even if they're not videos that I personally would choose to watch, clearly a lot of other people are. I'm not convinced it's any less of a reason to be on the show than marrying someone who owns a safari park anyway...
