None of the tabloids seem to have managed to dig any dance experience up in Kelvin's past...

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/09/2019 10:40

Blimey, Elspeth!

That's a story and a half - I hadn't been struck on her, but no-one should have to go through that sort of shit.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 23/09/2019 10:43

maitre whilst I am not averse to channelling Elsa, I always admire anyone's commitment to former contestants. The Xmas special is audience vote and Fabrice came 4th from 6 with the panel...whilst J.B.Gill didn't do it for me that much, I preferred Helen and Artem iirc, think Fabrice's music Christmas Wrapping was the least known out the six songs.

The only thing I found was
'He went to drama classes at the Oldham Theatre Workshop but it doesn't look like he has much dance experience.'

But how many years ago would that have been, I could be totally wrong & i am in no means clued up about dancing, but he might just have natural abilities & musicality!?

RolyWatts · 23/09/2019 11:35

Nah still can't bring myself to feel too sorry for the Viscountess. She seems nice enough but millions of people experience racism and infertility without the cushion of a title and a squillion pounds....
And more importantly can she dance? If she does get through surely she would rather it was because she can dance than because people felt a bit sorry for her. I actually think she was good. She has the kind of physique where every time she moves she looks elegant and graceful... Be interesting seeing her do a Latin number.

KurriKawari · 23/09/2019 12:13

Some people think if a celeb can walk in a straight line, they've had dance training 🙄
Kelvin has a great work ethic. Been in emmerdale since he was a kid. He's thrown himself into racing. And tbh if you have no job and can spend 10 hours plus a day training, for two weeks, with a great teacher like Oti, have some natural rhythm then I think a basic two minute routine can be learned. On a second watch you pick up the mistakes he made and there were plenty. The "ringer" comments every year are tedious and distract from a great dance.

Mrsjayy · 23/09/2019 12:20

We watched yesterday i loved it some of them I am meh about and i FF those but in general great first show some people have natural rythm and can move a hip Grin

Off topic, but

Really shitty. It doesn't make either experience any less hideous.

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/09/2019 13:25

Does anyone know which contestants (if any) are due to be on ITT tonight?

Mrsjayy · 23/09/2019 13:40

I agree about Emma Weymouth having a bit of priviledge doesn't make her experiences any less having racist in laws to boot can't be a hoot!

SerenDippitty · 23/09/2019 16:41

I’m still fuming about Gethin being robbed in 2007.

RolyWatts · 23/09/2019 16:43

It's not really shitty to say that a multi millionaire model/socialite having to deal with racist comments from her bonkers in-laws is not really comparible to those living in poverty due to structural racism. It's also not shitty to say that her wealth and privilege gave her choices that most people unable to have a second child don't have. So no she will not get a pity vote from me. She will however get a vote if she keeps dancing as beautifully as she did on Saturday. She doesn't really seem to project a victim persona, I'm not sure why someone she doesn't know would want to do that for her. Seems a bit patronising.

SoupDragon · 23/09/2019 16:53

Yes, it is really shitty.

RolyWatts · 23/09/2019 17:09

Maybe a debate for another thread. But stating that there are different experiences of racism, some worse than others, is not shitty.

Colin is the person who I always think of as being robbed... if you manage to dredge up his showdance (haha - my autocorrect changed that to snowdance!!), his face when he comes out absolutely breaks my heart - so excited and happy to be there. He was wonderful, graceful, competitive and yet gracious - one of my favourites of all time and for bloody Darren Gough to beat him was an utter travesty. I am, and never will be, over that injustice!

On the plus side, I scored Kelvin in my sweepstake at work so am feeling pretty excited (makes up for Anton last year and the Rev Richard the year before!)

RolyWatts · 23/09/2019 17:34

Thanks for the run down on what Shirley said. Seems very odd. There was really only supportive feedback until then. Hmmmmm. Intriguing.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 23/09/2019 17:38

Shirley is a cow. There’s always one person who she loathes. Can’t stand the woman. So unprofessional.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 23/09/2019 17:49

Ricky woz robbed!

I'm soooo far behind in this thread, missed half the dancing on Sat and haven't had any time to catch up. Think I'll do a catch up on YouTube.

I've put ITT on but forgot it started so early. There's a lot whooping, my poor ears! I think I'm going to like Rylan more than Zoe.

iklboo · 23/09/2019 17:51

Shirley is like that fake nice great aunt who gets snide at parties after a couple of gins. Always says something nasty in a saccharine tone with a smug smile on her face.

KurriKawari · 23/09/2019 18:00

I did think if a man behaved towards young girls like Shirley does with the young men they'd be so many complaints.

ShirleyPhallus · 23/09/2019 18:13

Rylan is alright but hasn’t quite got the hang of looking in to the camera when reading the autocue and not ever so slightly to the side of it

Cherrypi · 23/09/2019 18:21

Kelvin was sweet on it takes two. Hope his waltz is good

RolyWatts · 23/09/2019 18:47

Love Rylan. 😍😍

dontcallmelen · 23/09/2019 19:54

Dammit I missed takes two, forgot the new earlier time.
