I always FFwd through the VTs (with the exception of the training bits). I would rather they focused on the training. Or had one of the partnerless dancers (Gorka, Graz) explain briefly re something technical to watch out for in that dance.

In the Good Old Days When All This Was Fields, they used to get the wardrobe people on to describe the costumes and why they were chosen for particular contestants.

I loved that bit!

Crinkle77 · 22/09/2019 16:25

Don't know Shirley was so harsh to Emma. There is always someone who she seems to take against and is overly critical to. Poor Emma cos she seems so lovely.

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 16:26

myimaginarycathasfleas enjoy!
I find it interesting (geek!) to see the number of views on YouTube

Saffron 402k
Kelvin 186k
Dev 126k
Michelle 104k
Karim 98k
Emma & Anton 50k
Chris 34k
Mike 33k
Anneka 32k
Alex 31k
Catherine 27k
Will 26k
David 26k
James 26k
Emma 24k

Saffron obviously has a huge social media following like Joe which will be enough to get her far. I think the last three look about right.

areyoubeingserviced · 22/09/2019 16:39

Really enjoyed the show
Kelvin was great.
Motsi was great, didn’t miss Darcey at all.
Love the fact that SCD is back

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 16:43

Having Motsi there certainly made Bruno and Craig more bearable.
Also Shirley needs to stop getting hot flushes over the fit guys and taking it out in the women (like she did with Emma). Would have preferred for Darcey to stay and Shirley been replaced by Motsi. But dont think Shirley will ever leave 🙄

Yes! That bit was interesting. Do they do that on ITT now? I don't watch that because I don't want spoilers.

Theromanempire · 22/09/2019 16:44

Just checking in Smile

Loved last night's show - it didn't seem to drag in the way first shows generally do with so many contestants.

I had had the 'surprise' of Kelvin spoilt by a Facebook post but was still amazed by how well he moved, particularly for someone so pumped as he is!

I assume Karim has done dance training of some sort? You don't learn those hand and arm placements overnight Hmm

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 16:58

It wasn't overnight, it was two weeks. Plus coming from the same culture as Karim and with nephews the same age, dancing is a big part of family occasions and whilst none of them have had formal training, my nephews can pull off all the moves he was. I don't why people are surprised that angie can move/dance to a beat. I don't think Kelvin has any formal dance training but obviously he's got rhythm and hips that he knows how to move. With the right teacher and some commitment he picked it up.

ElspethFlashman · 22/09/2019 16:59

Didn't really take to Saffron "HI GUIIIIYS!"

DH said we must do a drinking game where we drink every time she says the word "followers".

NigesFakeWalkingStick · 22/09/2019 17:01

Checking in to this new thread.

I didn't know James had a brain injury. I feel bad now for saying he was terrible Sad

iklboo · 22/09/2019 17:03

DH said we must do a drinking game where we drink every time she says the word "followers".

Count us in 🥃

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 17:05

Although re: Karim 🙈

"Born November 14, 1993 Karim attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School and acted in a London West End musical production."

evilharpy · 22/09/2019 17:07

Karim was amazing. I guess there’s a ringer every year but they’re always so good to watch.

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 17:15

Exactly evilharpy we need some that are naturally great like him, some who will go on a "journey" and the ones who dont have a chance but make you smile. There's only so many "amateurs" you can take in a show with 15 celebs!

iklboo · 22/09/2019 17:17

Will Karim do a Simba Samba?

Fairylea · 22/09/2019 17:20

Loved last night.

Karim was amazing! I wasn’t even that interested to watch him being honest and was blown away. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

Kevin really didn’t do anything for me. Surprised to see how many people are saying how amazing he was (not just here, everywhere)!

I think Anton and Emma didn’t deserve the harsh comments they got.

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 17:23

I don't know how much dancing was involved but Kelvin did star in the Full Monty...if Shirley is on MN I suggest she has a Google ;)

I do think whilst on SCD he needs to be less muscly if that makes sense.

ilovesooty · 22/09/2019 17:23

Presumably James will have to do a Latin dance next week. I thin he'll struggle and I'm worried about him too.

dontcallmelen · 22/09/2019 17:25

Just checking in fell off the previous thread & only got to see bits of last nights show, as had dgd for the night.
Bits I did see yy Shirley did seem very harsh towards Emma, Karim was amazing is he this years ringah? Kelvin definitely has rhythm & what’s her face is annoying me already with ‘followers’

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 17:40

What kind of dance does Sylvia Young school teach? Karim is only 19 and I think he appeared on stage in Lion King, dont know much dance that involves. Or if sylvia young teachers chacha and ballroom and latin!?!
Her with the followers will make it to at least quarter final if not semi final. She has lots of "fans" and AJ is a great teacher who always gets far in the competition.

xsquared · 22/09/2019 17:41

Kurrikawari, what do you mean by less muscly? Similar thing to what Shirley was saying about him embracing his feminine side?

Anyway, I think he's fine as he is. Totally didn't expect that from him last night and he'll be interesting to watch.

Haven't really warmed to Saffron yet and I see that she's also used the "doing it for my nan" line like Joe did last year.

Alex was undermarked in comparison to those who went after her.

I hope James has a better performance next week. Social media users and the red tops haven't been very kind about him.

KurriKawari · 22/09/2019 17:45

He just looks very pumped and muscly lol it means exactly what I've written. I didnt listen to judges comments so no idea what shirley said. Nothing to do with masculine v feminine. I noticed that whilst Giovanni and Gorka etc are quite muscly it doesn't distract, which is seemed to with Kelvin, but then I wonder if that was more down to the awful fit on his shirt sleeves.

derxa · 22/09/2019 17:49

I think he'll struggle and I'm worried about him too. I am too. I'm sure he's put his family through hell but he did have that terrible accident.
I've always admired his rowing achievements and he's incredibly handsome. Is that shallow? Felt very sad for him last night.

derxa · 22/09/2019 17:52

My fav is the Radio one DJ. He's a natural.

Horsemad · 22/09/2019 18:05

Karim is 25, not 19.
