Private Grin

Fizzyit's true, about the dc growing up with TS, because when I went to see the last one, (with ds and dd1)I was pg (a few weeks from birth) with dd2. So when the beginning of the film came up with '9 years ago' it made me feel a bit funny- because she will be 9 in September.

It really brought home hoe long it's been since the last one!

As for the tennis, I like RBA a lot- but Gasquet is having quite a good run of results of late, so I'd be happy for either to win.

I am not sure Pouille will get past Djok.

Didn’t realise that Andy was a classical music fan Private

You might have to wait until your DS is 20 to see Toy Story 4 - my 8 y o nephew refused to see it because he thought it was babyish but it is good.

I’ve been reading a bit more (speculation) about Rafa’s wedding - roger may get an invite but it’s unlikely that Kyrgios will Grin

Is Djokovic playing later tonight Private - he has been playing at about midnight our time in his previous matches which is good as I’ve managed not seen him Grin

PrivateIsles · 16/08/2019 19:56

PS this is a good match if anyone's able to watch - some nice rallies, single hander vs 2 handed backhand always a good match up Smile

Re what you were saying about nice players Raahh - I think these two definitely qualify. Just nice, understated characters playing good tennis and getting on with the job!

Raahh · 16/08/2019 20:07

I must admit, seeing as dd1 was 13 today, I was surprised she wanted to go and see Toy Story. We saw Spiderman the other weekGrin.

RBA and Gasquet are nice blokes, and I think it's time the ATP started focusing on the 'good guys' in the sports- rather than promoting the clowns. There's a massive backlash against Dick on the ATP FB pages- but it doesn't seem to stop them bigging him up at every opportunity.

OP posts:
Raahh · 16/08/2019 20:11

And I think RBA has made a lot of fans this year- by beating Djok a couple of times, by being an absolute gentleman in Melbourne after his match with Andy, and just by being a decent, hard working player.

When 's his wedding? I think it might be the end of the season. I loved how he missed his stag do for the Wimbledon semi final Grin.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 16/08/2019 20:13

I agree with the nice blokes thing - I think the ATP should be promoting them more. I like both Gasquet and RBA - Gasquet does seem to be having a good run. I think Thiem always seems like a nice bloke.

Djok is playing at 2am our time - I should be happily snoozing away by then.

It’s like winter here - cold, rainy and windy Sad

Nishioka has food poisoning so won’t be able to play his match Sad

Fizzywinegum · 16/08/2019 20:16

I think RBA is getting married in September Raahh - he did say “all being well” in one of his interviews at Wimbledon which did make me slightly worried about the wedding - I wonder if he’s had his stag do yet? Grin

PrivateIsles · 16/08/2019 20:17

Grin the commentators were talking about his stag do but didn't give any details about his wedding - hopeless. If AC was involved at least he would have tried to give us some detail (or try and grill someone about it anyway!).

He does seem a decent bloke, RBA. But I like watching Gasquet and he's had his own injury problems etc lately, so I do want him to win. So true about the Kyrgios backlash. It all just gets a bit boring.

I suppose I'll have to wait 11 years to see Toy Story then! Unless I go on my own Grin - I don't mind going to the cinema on my own at all, but maybe not to see Toy Story!

Raahh · 16/08/2019 20:19

Poor Nishioka! He's had such a good tournament.

'all being well' doesn't sound very positive, does it? Grin

Maybe it was a Rafa-esque lost in translation moment! Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 16/08/2019 20:21

I remember taking myself to see the original 'Lion King' by myself. I went through a phase of going to the cinema on my afternoons off, my myself, at the time.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 16/08/2019 20:26

I also like going to the cinema on my own - I was (not sure why!) surprised at the number of small children at Toy Story 4 - they kept getting up and wandering about Grin

I think maybe the RBA comment was a bit lost in translation - we definitely need AC on the wedding case - he would be great - telling us all how everyone was related, the outfits, the buffetGrin

Raahh · 16/08/2019 20:38

Oh- there was a baby when we went today. Sat right behind dh. Cried all the way through- and the mother finally took them out- 5 minutes before the film ended!Hmm

I know it was children's film, but I couldn't help thinking that it was selfish- it's not a cheap thing, really, going to the cinema, so to sit through that for nearly 2 hours was slightly annoying.

I'm a grumpy ageing woman though ( who would have whisked my own dc out much sooner in embarrassment- in fact , the youngest any of them ever went was 4, when I knew they would sit through a film).

JudgyMcJudgyson, that's me.

OP posts:
Raahh · 16/08/2019 20:42

Oh my- an AC commentary on the wedding would be funny.

We would find out the colour of the napkins, the exact material the chairs were made of, probably a very detailed description of the food.

I'm not sure he's so good on fashion- might need someone else to do the Phil et Susie slot on Maria's wedding dress.

Not Marion Bartoli though. I'm sorry, but for a 'fashion designer' her style leaves rather a lot to be desired. Same as Serena.

Grin
OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 16/08/2019 21:00

I have to admit I was quite judgey at the cinema as well Raahh Grin

Completely agree about Bartoli and Serena - fashion designers? Hmm

Raahh · 16/08/2019 21:15

Glad it's not just me, Fizzy BlushGrin

But hey, 12 years on, I'm still bitter over the crying baby that robbed Delpo of an Olympic final. Because it did affect him.

Oh yes. I hold grudges.

OP posts:
Raahh · 16/08/2019 21:16

Not quite 12 Grin it's 7 - but it was 2012.

it's been a long day Grin.

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 16/08/2019 21:35

Oh that is annoying about the baby Raahh - yes cinema is definitely quite pricey these days to have the whole thing drowned out by crying!! I would not be impressed either.

My DSis takes my baby niece to "baby cinema" - normal films for adults, but you can take your baby and if they cry everyone is ok with it (apparently). Sounds like there was a potential customer for them at your cinema today Raahh!

Gasquet has won - really pleased for him. Now RBA can concentrate on making sure all is well for his wedding!!

What a shame about Nishioka - that would have been another nice guy match, v Goffin. Hope he's ok.

So do Goffin and Gasquet play each other in the semi final?

Who knocked out Khachanov - was it Pouille? I'm losing track. But I agree Raahh - I don't see him doing a Rublev and beating Djok - still, you never know!!

PrivateIsles · 16/08/2019 21:39

Ha crying baby x-post! Grin

Raahh · 16/08/2019 21:48

It's a big opportunity for someone in the bottom half of the draw.

Pouille has been very inconsistent this year- so I'm not convinced he will threaten Djok.

Would be nice though.

OP posts:
PrivateIsles · 16/08/2019 21:54

I would absolutely love Gasquet or Goffin to win it - well anyone who's left whose initials aren't ND Grin

I haven't seen him play at a either Fizzy. Is he actually even in this tournament?! Hmm

PrivateIsles · 17/08/2019 13:59

Oh right I see - they weren't playing the QFs on different days, it was just the time difference making it look like that Grin ok I take it back!

Glad Gasquet v Goffin is first today, 6pm our time. Would like either of them to win. It annoys me though that Gasquet is barely getting a mention (except by me every 10 minutes Grin) despite making a comeback from surgery in April, even though he's older than Andy Murray and has been on the tour since he was about 12 and is playing lovely tennis! I mean, come on commentators! I do not care that much about Murray doubles - give something else some airtime would you!)

Ok tirade over for now.

Hope Medvedev can beat Djok in the other semi - doubtful though.

Raahh · 17/08/2019 14:28

Well, Medvedev beat Djok in Monte Carlo. But that was probably when he was having a bit of a blip and still blaming everything on the shenanigans going on at the ATP.

Hard courts might be different.

And no, no real mentions of Gasquet. But doubles will go quiet now- Andy lost. No-one is interested in Jamie. Grin

I read that Dick has been fined $113,000 or something like that- but could face further sanctions. I really bloody hope so. It's not just what he does, its the fact he's so unapologetic.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 17/08/2019 17:11

And apparently, Andy spoke to Dick and told him that his behaviour wasn't acceptable. We know they are mates, so I wonder if Dick will listen to him, as he clearly doesn't listen to anyone else Hmm

PrivateIsles · 17/08/2019 18:03

kazza well if he doesn't listen to Andy who will he listen to? Hope it does the trick but wouldn't hold my breath!!

Delpo has posted this video of his rehab, which includes slo-mo shots of him getting out of a swimming pool Grin

Doesn't look like he met any MNers this time though!

PrivateIsles · 17/08/2019 18:05

Mark Petchey has just answered a question about this semi final with some "info" about how Andy Murray will be travelling to Winston Salem Hmm

The match, Mark! The match they're warming up for in front of you right now!! That's what I'm here for, not Andy's transport arrangements Hmm
