Just finished it. I haven't processed it enough to say anything coherent quite yet but I'm feeling all emotional. Going to miss it immensely.

I'm here!!!!

Fantastic,I cried my eyes out !

LoafofSellotape · 16/05/2019 15:17

Try Back to Life to fill the gap of fantastic drama,it's on iPlayer, completely different but fantastic drama and the characters seem very 'real '

LoafofSellotape · 16/05/2019 15:17

Fundamentally tired is my new favourite expression 😂

Belindabelle · 16/05/2019 15:22

I watched it all last night and haven't rewatched any yet but

"you melt me like butter" is the best phrase in the world.
Loved Kelly being protective of Cathy and telling Jason off.
Loved the way Reg was on Team Cathy but Maureen seemed less sure.
Pauline being out Paulined by the home owner.

BitOfFun · 16/05/2019 15:24

ZOMG! Wasn't it amazing? I watched it in a oner last night.

I still don't quite understand Pauline. Perhaps I should watch it again.

QueenOfIce · 16/05/2019 15:26

I've just finished it, I'm so sad there won't be any more, I loved it. I loved seeing the characters interact a little more and speak more than 1 sentence! Was Pauline trying for a baby?

Belindabelle · 16/05/2019 15:49

I think Pauline is the most complex and difficult to understand character in it. She had some of the best scenes and lines.

I loved the developing relationship with Kelly and Derek. Bonding over water bottles.
The way Michael looks out for and cares for everyone in little subtle ways like waiting behind with Maureen and Reg to make the tea and sorting out the umbrella.

I was driven mad by how messy they all were. Plates and glasses everywhere

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2019 15:57

I'm crying real big blubbery tears!
' what a time to put yourself first'
..go Cathy.
Bless them all

Mrsemcgregor · 16/05/2019 16:02

I loved the “go fuck yourself” from Cathy to Pauline, and then Pauline’s “well done” back.

Love love love it all, love the secret little handhold in the dark on the landing. So sweet but intense.

It’s all so good!

spiderlight · 16/05/2019 16:03

I loved the way the house became steadily more untidy as the week went on. It reminded me of when my in-laws come to stay!

Pauline is just so terribly bitter, but what Cathy said about people being like that to hide how sad they are underneath seemed to hit home with her. I had a genuine jaw-drop moment when Cathy told her to go fuck herself. Did not see that one coming!

Reg and Maureen were fabulous as always. I wittered on about this on the other thread, but the moment that completely finished me off was Reg - 'I'll get you up the stairs.' Just the absolute quiet certainty of his devotion to her and the way it cuts through all the bickering.

I loved the ending but I don't want it to be over :(

Reg and Maureen are the best. The very fact they had been invited on the holiday speaks volumes. I though the scene near the end with Cathy and Maureen was awkward. I really wanted Maureen to say something to give her approval but she just couldn't.

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2019 16:22

The mum horrible to Cathy really.
Not giving her blessing was heartbreaking.

Reg obviously loved his son but he was happy for them. Contrasting characters yet Reg is the one with the cutting remarks!
Derek is just a big boy whose still growing up. Pauline is a puzzle!
Loved it all and every character had their chance to shine.

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2019 16:34

One thing did annoy me; why did they have to move cars about so much when the drives were the size of a football pitch! Lol
The owner was a nightmare wasn't she?
Michael taking the spoon out of the microwave for Jason. Such a nice man.
I have house jealousy though. All that space!
I would love a kitchen that size.

LoafofSellotape · 16/05/2019 16:38

About her trying for a baby: I think that may have been part of her marriage falling apart

Was the non sex scene because she wants a baby? Surely not, she's past menopause isn't she? She hates kidsConfused

LoafofSellotape · 16/05/2019 16:41

I thought she wanted sex with Derek,I presumed it was to see if she was over her ex.

Belindabelle · 16/05/2019 16:51

I think Pauline is not over her ex but the ex is certainly over Pauline.
