So, now we battle for King's Landing and the Throne.

The penultimate episode of this most epic of tales. Can Cersei survive? Will Euron catch on and wonder how Tyrion could have known of the pregnancy? Will Arya and the Hound beat Jaime in the race south?

As ever, no leaks or spoilers please until we watch the episode live together. Our Watch begins....

Well that was...interesting... I feel like I've lost all sense of suspense and excitement. It feels a bit like "oh right, now we're doing this are we". I mean FFS Dany - Queen of the Ashes! Does anyone else think we're gearing up for a cliffhanger? And that trailer for next weeks episode - where did all those soldiers come from?!

CodenameVillanelle · 13/05/2019 08:01

That was a different girl, that was the daughter of the woman who helped Arya

8dayweek · 13/05/2019 08:03

@Lweji I assumed she was still at Dragonstone?

CodenameVillanelle · 13/05/2019 08:03

We saw a little girl hiding behind a pillar in kings landing. I don't know if that's Varys' little bird or not.

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 08:07

OMG, I’ve been saying for years that I wondered if the white stuff falling on the throne in Dany’s vision was ash!

That episode was so strange. Enjoyable, but strange.

I’m guessing no one’s going to be calling their babies ‘Khaleesi’ any more!

JaynePoole · 13/05/2019 08:14

Haven't RTFT yet, because I just want to say, "unbelievably bad". The rot set in with season 6. Why am I still watching this?

sashh · 13/05/2019 08:20

The last dragon will have to go in the last episode, won't it? Or will Dany and Jon escape to their remove love nest? (wishful thinking)

I think they are missing a trick with Arya, she killed the Knight Hing, who managed to revive a dead dragon, so can she put on his face and do the same?

Can she raise an army of the dead?

When it showed Arya's face on just one side for ages I thought she would have a burn like the hound on the other side.

taleforthetimebeing · 13/05/2019 08:23

strawberrypancakes I loved that especially about cutting this episode to free up more scenes with Ghost.

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 08:29

JaynePoole you’re watching for the same reason most of us are - because it is likely the only ending to the series we’ll ever get.

D&D would never have made up this ending for Dany - this must have come from GRRM. True, they can’t write a coherent story, but the signs have been there from very early in the books.

After the reaction to the last episode, I can’t see him ever finishing the books now.

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 13/05/2019 08:30

Well 😭😭😭It's all my own fault but the Reddit spoilers seem to bang on so far ... which means the ending is shit..

JaynePoole · 13/05/2019 08:33

JaynePoole you’re watching for the same reason most of us are - because it is likely the only ending to the series we’ll ever get.

I think you're right, and I really don't mind Dany going dark. It's just, well, everything else! The writing is terrible. The plot is terrible, it's lost everything that made GRRM's 'vision' so innovative and captivating.

We've seen the last of Bran haven't we? His story has been completely, completely pointless, hasn't it?

ElenadeClermont · 13/05/2019 08:41

Yes, the spoilers were right.

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 08:45

Quinn from Ideas of Ice and Fire rated the episode at -873 out of 10.

I guess he didn’t like it... Grin

JaynePoole · 13/05/2019 08:45

And how come the dragon's fire is suddenly able to blast away stone? The whole point of Harrenhal is as evidence that dragon fire can be so hot it melts stone, not that it blows it up.

HandsOffMyRights · 13/05/2019 08:46

Placemarking as still processing what I just watched before work....

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 08:55

A few positive points:

Last conversation between Jaime and Tyrion was a real heartbreaker.

The conversation between Tyrion and Varys at the execution was very moving.

Despite the fact that I’ve always hated the idea of Cleganebowl, I really enjoyed that last conversation between Arya and the Hound. Rory very, very rarely actually gets the chance to properly ‘act’, but he nailed that scene. Arya calling him Sandor was lovely.

Jaime and Cersei dying together worked really well, mainly due to Lena and Nikolai’s superb performances.

That’s about it. The rest of the episode was awful.

fancynancyclancy · 13/05/2019 09:00

I’m at the point of Drogan burning Euron fleets & KLs arrow men (?). Tbh I’m with Dany so far, everyone is betraying her & so far it feels good she is lighting everyone up.
With regards to Varys, treason is treason. Burning him may have been a little harsh but I guess it’s a quick death?

CodenameVillanelle · 13/05/2019 09:01

I suppose that Cersei having a very banal death being crushed by rubble just the way her people were crushed was quite poetic.

CodenameVillanelle · 13/05/2019 09:02

I was with daenarys when she burnt the ships. I was internally whooping.

fancynancyclancy · 13/05/2019 09:04

Do you have to have blue eyes to be in the Golden Compass Army?

NoParticularPattern · 13/05/2019 09:05

I’m sat here a bit lost. I feel like that was another episode where they somehow managed to drag about 20 minutes out into 90. I feel like they have too much to clear up in the last episode but also that a lot of the stuff we THOUGHT there would be to clean up, has just gone poof!

I’m not sure I’m going to be sad when it ends if that last episode was anything to go by. And to think that the one before that was so GOOD

fancynancyclancy · 13/05/2019 09:12

Ok didn’t think she would start burning the innocents after the bell had rung & they had seemed to avoid innocents dying initially.

DangerMouse17 · 13/05/2019 09:19

Varys likely sent his ravens, but I'm wondering who exactly he could tell that would even be able to do anything? Who would he have written to? Confused

BeyondOverTheMoon · 13/05/2019 09:22

Didn't get up in the night, but seen it now. Overall I enjoyed it.
Still kinda expecting Cersei's baby to survive and be secretly adopted as a bastard though... full circle etc

fancynancyclancy · 13/05/2019 09:23

Did not see Gregor killing his creator (can’t remember his name)
