So, now we battle for King's Landing and the Throne.

The penultimate episode of this most epic of tales. Can Cersei survive? Will Euron catch on and wonder how Tyrion could have known of the pregnancy? Will Arya and the Hound beat Jaime in the race south?

As ever, no leaks or spoilers please until we watch the episode live together. Our Watch begins....

I was trying to think of this the other day, but there are Lords Paramount still around;

Sansa, Yara, Edmund Tully, Gendry, New Prince of Dorne (pmsl), SweetRobin (is he still alive?) Tyrion, Bronn Grin

OrianaBanana · 15/05/2019 12:58

I think sweetrobin is fine, in the mythical land that time forgot. The only worry is that everyone else forgets about him.

If Tyrion dies then I think Bronn will get the boot (then who gets Casterly Rock?) 🤔

If Bran randomly gets the throne after doing nothing for 8 seasons and with no claim whatever then I will be cross. Angry

If he cant be bothered being Lord of Winterfell then surely he won’t be King. Please no.

AngeloMysterioso · 15/05/2019 12:59

It is a bit disappointing that a show with two high-powered female protagonists had to make them both nutjobs.

I would be totally up for an ending with King Samwell of House Tarly on the throne!

SweetSummerchild · 15/05/2019 13:08

At the moment I don’t want any of them on the throne.

Tyrion and Jon have proved utterly dim with their blind loyalty and faith in Dany.

Sansa is competent, but she seems to want security and peac and quiet in her own home. Same with Yara.

Arya and Gendry have no leadership experience or qualities. Arya would end up like Maegor the Cruel and Gendry would end up like Tytos Lannister ‘castles for everyone’.

Samwell - no, just no.

Hot Pie it is then...

captainpantbeard · 15/05/2019 13:13

I know this must have been said elsewhere, but Euron always so reminded me of Lord Flasheart from Blackadder!

Yes, I said this to DH last week. Terrible character, and not in an evil way. Just terrible.

We loved episode 5 - were totally enthralled in the action, some of it was just amazing and then Lord Flashheart walks out of the sea. I think the whole street heard us groan. Anyway at least he won't be in episode 6.

Loved the matching of the Hound's fight to Arya trying to get up when she fell in the street. It was so well done.

Still laughing at Cersei's 'I'm just going to go'.

itswinetime · 15/05/2019 13:14

Everyone will be angry!! His story arch has had zero to do with the throne and everything to do with the night king and the history of the world and all the magical mythical aspects or the story.

He wasnt even interested as a child pre going full raven. Can anyone explain why this seems to be a theory now? It makes less sense than the who bran travels back in time and ends up the night king to me.

AnotherEmma · 15/05/2019 13:15

"It is a bit disappointing that a show with two high-powered female protagonists had to make them both nutjobs."

Yep

OrianaBanana · 15/05/2019 13:22

I guess he’s just one of the major character lordly options so a possibility as likely as the next. More likely than Arya on the throne to be honest.

Euron Flashheart coming out of the sea, yes. Ffs, no one wants him around and it served no purpose.

UpToonGirl · 15/05/2019 13:26

I don't think it's disappointing to make them both nutjobs, Cersi has never been anything other then a mean bitch who looks out only for herself and children, although I did expect her to have more of a back up plan. Dani has been a strong, powerful woman throughout who was destined to turn mad (as her father did, male).

I don't get people saying GOT is sexist, there are plenty of powerful women, Arya killed the night king where Jon failed. We've got Brienne (didn't agree with her crying after Jamie, I'll forget that). Yara, catylyn stark, the dornish lot, Marjory and her grandma. Yes, alot of women were not treated well but a lot of the men weren't either.

LaurieMarlow · 15/05/2019 13:32

I don’t think Bran as king is a serious theory.

Dismantling the throne altogether would be a legitimate end. Back to the seven kingdoms being ruled separately.

OrianaBanana · 15/05/2019 13:33

Yes, thought we might see it get melted symbolically in the sack of KL. maybe we will see it as a charred twisted lump next episode.

SweetSummerchild · 15/05/2019 13:34

Everyone is forgetting the true power behind the throne - the person who discovered the marriage between Prince Ragnar and Lyanna Stark which caused all these shenanigans....... Gilly

Sansa and Yara will make great rulers of their own regions.

I’d hate to see Bran as king. It just makes no sense. However, I could see him taking on some sort of advisory role in bringing regional rulers together.

A bit like a chairman....... Wink

AllGoodDogs · 15/05/2019 13:34

Sorry, haven't RTFT. Just watch up now.. Has anyone mentioned how The Mountain looked like a zombie version of Varys?!

AllGoodDogs · 15/05/2019 13:35

*catching up now

bigKiteFlying · 15/05/2019 13:52

I don't think Cersei came across as a nut job - she believed having entered the Game of Thrones you win or you die.

She underestimated her opponents and the force of the dragon - despite Jamie trying to tell her how destructive it was. She was over confident and got blindsided and had no back up escape plan.

Though like Dany she was very isolated at the end.

itswinetime · 15/05/2019 13:53

I'm very relieved to hear that I have seen it mentioned on here a few times at at first I thought it was obviously joking but after a while I worried I had missed something!

My favourite theory is still dismantling the throne all together but I don't think that will happen now.

bigKiteFlying · 15/05/2019 13:57

Barn doesn't even want to be Lord of Winterfell - which he should technically be - he always say no I'm the Three Eyed Raven. So I can't see him going near the Iron throne.

He could be a source of information on how to kill a dragon - but I'm not sure there's time to get back up north. I wonder if we'll see the north again or will it all be Kinds Landing and everything playing out there.

itswinetime · 15/05/2019 14:00

I wonder if we'll see the north again or will it all be Kinds Landing and everything playing out there.

I dont think we will unless it ends with a crappy flash forward to what everyone is doing in 2yrs! Let hope that isn't the case. The story is all In Kings landing I think we will see the major characters again but I think it will be in kings Landing or what's left of it.

SweetSummerchild · 15/05/2019 14:07

I wonder if we'll see the north again or will it all be Kinds Landing and everything playing out there.

I know that they spent quite a long time in June 2018 filming in a location that they have used before which is not Winterfell or Dubrovnik.

To name it wouldn’t give too much away about what will happen there, but I won’t mention where it is unless people want me to. Naming the location also wouldn’t imply anything about the characters that had filmed there.

millythepink · 15/05/2019 14:10

Can anyone explain why Drogon was suddenly so much more powerful and faster in episode 5, compared to previous epidodes?

Lweji · 15/05/2019 14:14

He's clearly still growing.

bigKiteFlying · 15/05/2019 14:21

I dont think we will unless it ends with a crappy flash forward to what everyone is doing in 2yrs!

I saw Graham Norton with Kit Harington where he said he had a statue of himself from the show either he was teasing which could well given the show be or there's future flash at end – though how far and where I couldn’t guess - or Sansa is really well prepared for his death.

SweetSummerchild · 15/05/2019 14:22

Can anyone explain why Drogon was suddenly so much more powerful and faster in episode 5, compared to previous epidodes?

B**k answer: dragons continue to grow for decades
Show answer: it needed to be super powerful and fast in order to take out the whole of Euron’s fleet and the city defences in 5 minutes so she was then ready to nuke the city.

Interesting thought - how may calories would a dragon have to consume in order to create that much flamey stuff?

OneInAMillionYou · 15/05/2019 14:23

Yes, DeadWife that was me who spotted the Varys/poison plot, at 2.22 am

bows

I'm amazed and proud, I am not normally the one who spots these nuances....😀

On an admin note, this thread has grown like crazy this week, so I am going to start a 'Part 2' thread, so we still keep the Episode 6 thread to start on Sunday. Hope that's OK with everyone?

Could it be that they're back down south - they weren't eating in the north and didn't like the climate.
