So, now we battle for King's Landing and the Throne.

The penultimate episode of this most epic of tales. Can Cersei survive? Will Euron catch on and wonder how Tyrion could have known of the pregnancy? Will Arya and the Hound beat Jaime in the race south?

As ever, no leaks or spoilers please until we watch the episode live together. Our Watch begins....

Regarding the dragon:

Stab it in the eye.

Or sacrifice a virgin to it periodically.

Or put it in charge of a large cache of gold (see Narnia).

Or call in St George.

Seriously though, I wonder if Daenerys is killed whether the dragon might self-destruct somehow anyway. Didn't she hatch them by some weird fire-magic in the first place?

shirleyschmidt · 14/05/2019 17:42

Sorry if I'm being dim but what's the difference between Aegon and fAegon??

LaurieFairyCake · 14/05/2019 17:46

I think Dany will tell Drogon to set Jon on fire and Drogon will refuse as he knows Jon is a Targaryon (Drogon may even turn on Dany over John)

LaurieMarlow · 14/05/2019 17:48

Drogon will refuse as he knows Jon is a targaryen

Ooh I like that

RoginaInWellies · 14/05/2019 17:50

I could see Daenerys realising that she will never rule, standing in front of Drogon, and giving the command 'Dracarys'... What a way to go!

LaurieMarlow · 14/05/2019 17:51

Aegon, second child of Rhaegar Targaryen (or Jon if you’re the show). Supposedly killed as a baby in the sack of KL.

fAegon, young man currently running round in the books saying he’s the second child of Rhaegar, but more likely to be a blackfyre pretender.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 14/05/2019 17:56

fAegon, young man currently running round in the books saying he’s the second child of Rhaegar, but more likely to be a blackfyre pretender.

And that has parallels to the Princes in the Tower and the Perkin Warbeck pretender during Henry VII’s reign. It’s interesting to see where GRRM has got his inspiration.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/05/2019 18:02

The Aegon who was killed in the sacking of Kings Landing (by the Mountain) is a different baby to Jon. He was Rhaegar’s second child. Jon is his third, by a different woman.

LaurieMarlow · 14/05/2019 18:04

Does the show acknowledge existence of the original Aegon Targaryen? I’ve forgotten.

OrianaBanana · 14/05/2019 18:07

She’s immune to fire though. Possibly not dragonfire but how embarrassing if she’s still standing there naked after that.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/05/2019 18:07

Oberon Martell accuses the Mountain of killing his sister and her children. His sister was Rhaegar’s wife.

LaurieMarlow · 14/05/2019 18:08

Yes, I remember that scene well. Is he named though?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/05/2019 18:09

Maybe Dany will order Drogon to dracarys Jon. He will be immune to dragon fire and everyone will catch on to his heritage.

SweetSummerchild · 14/05/2019 18:15

Does the show acknowledge existence of the original Aegon Targaryen? I’ve forgotten.

Yes, season 3 when Beric puts the Hound on trial for being a Lannister man and a Clegane (Gregor was the one who killed Aegon). Either Beric or the Hound mentions Aegon’s name, but I can’t remember which one.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 14/05/2019 18:16

Honestly can’t recall if Aegon is named in the show.

A bit strange that both Rhaegar’s boys are Aegon Hmm. I wonder if Jon’s name will be Aegon in the books? If Martin ever finishes them.

BurntSausage · 14/05/2019 18:17

Now TV version airs later, this week was from 3.30am. Initially it was aired at the same time as US but too many complaints about the streaming quality (buffering & screen freezing). Sky airs at the same time as US.

Sorry if I’m late but no it doesn’t, if you Watch Live on NowTV on Sky Atlantic it’s on at 2am. That’s how I watch it. Then if you want to watch it on Catch Up it goes on around the same time as the live show finishes, which would have been about 3.30am this week. Lots of people don’t realise NowTV has the option to watch live.

agirlhasnonameX · 14/05/2019 18:20

The question is how? All the dragon killing machines are busted.
There was a dragon in Kings Landing that got killed when the city/guards swarmed it, sort of how the wights swarmed Drogon, but I can't remember the details or which dragon it was Confused

SweetSummerchild · 14/05/2019 18:21

@LaurieMarlow at 3.18....

LaurieMarlow · 14/05/2019 18:23

Cool, thanks

SweetSummerchild · 14/05/2019 18:23

TinklyLittleLaugh I’ve attached the Youtube clip.

Oh the dialogue was good back then - back when the Hound could go through an entire scene without saying fck or cnt once!

SweetSummerchild · 14/05/2019 18:25

A bit strange that both Rhaegar’s boys are Aegon

Aegon-gate is what caused most people on reddit/freefolk to assume the (accurate) season 7 leaks were bogus.

There is no history in the Targaryans for having two children with the same name.

The most popular fan theory is that he was called Jaehaerys (GRRM’s favourite Targ king).

agirlhasnonameX · 14/05/2019 18:28

I think he just really wanted an Aegon to sit on the throne after him.

LaurieMarlow · 14/05/2019 18:29

They could have just gone for Aemon. Not sure why they doubled up.

ElenadeClermont · 14/05/2019 18:31

Neither Jon nor Dany are immune to fire.

There are no rules for bonding with dragons in the show, but in the books one person can only ever bond with one dragon. So Dany controlling Rhaegal after Jon riding it was total tosh according to the books.
Dragons live for hundreds of years, so once the dragonrider dies, a new person can try to bond with that dragon. It requires a lot of courage. Always easier to hatch one and bond from scratch.
There is no way Aegon the Conqueror would dare to take his chances with either of his sister's dragons.

AnneOfAvonlea · 14/05/2019 18:49

I havent rtft but I wonder if Drogon will be the one to kill Dany by having to choose between her and Jon, and siding with Jon.
