So, now we battle for King's Landing and the Throne.

The penultimate episode of this most epic of tales. Can Cersei survive? Will Euron catch on and wonder how Tyrion could have known of the pregnancy? Will Arya and the Hound beat Jaime in the race south?

As ever, no leaks or spoilers please until we watch the episode live together. Our Watch begins....

@Cottonwoolmouth, Get off this thread. Leave.

WTF?

Prequelle · 13/05/2019 20:18

If I read one more thing on reddit about bran not helping and that he should have seen what was going on and warged into the Dragon... he can't do anything in that area because they cut all the weirwood trees dowm

itswinetime · 13/05/2019 20:21

Prequelle

I'm not on reddit but I agree. I think people are just so desperate for bran to have a purpose. For being the three eyed raven to actually mean something they would be happy for him to do anything, even if it didn't make sense!

Prequelle · 13/05/2019 20:32

Yeah im annoyed about that too. Unless there's a big reveal I'm going to be annoyed.

And all the stuff about God's, we saw the god of light and his power in the Great War but nothing else after that. Is that it?

Cottonwoolmouth · 13/05/2019 20:38

Andy it was a joke....

Why haven’t you bothered to watch the whole series?

My Dh does this with films I’ve been watching! Grin

Ontheboardwalk · 13/05/2019 20:52

Watching again does Tyrion grass up Varys for the greater good?

Is he hiding the fact Varys has sent ravens out telling the truth about Jon so Dany will be defeated at the end by the truth?

I like to think Varys liked death by dragon for the good of the realm

MaddieElla · 13/05/2019 20:53

Actually thinking about it, how many lines, or even scenes, has cersei had this series. Very very few. Same with Jon.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 13/05/2019 20:58

Another comment I saw on line is that the true victor is Lena Headey who got 4 million dollars for staring out a window Grin.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 13/05/2019 21:01

Jon did a lot of heavy lifting in The Long Night, and has his fair share of the dialogue in the other episodes, so I think Kit’s earned his 6 million.

itswinetime · 13/05/2019 21:01

MaddieElla. Cersei has had less than even Jon she wasn't in 2 episodes barley been in the other 3.

We don't actually see Tyrion grass Varys up do when he is talking to Danny she already knows he just agreed so I'm not sure we can know why he did it I'm about to re watch though so maybe I'm wrong.

I do think Varys's letters have to be important calling the lords and lady's to kings Landing for a summit about who should rule seems most likely to me.

Strawberrypancakes could you imagine 😂😂 That would be the ultimate in pants ending mr useless on the throne dropping in spooky one liners while others do all the work! Although when you write it like... 😂

Oblomov19 · 13/05/2019 21:15

Found this episode a bit disappointing really.

Figgygal · 13/05/2019 21:21

Just watched it again wAs very impressed by Maisie Williams in those last 20 minutes

yumyumpoppycat · 13/05/2019 21:25

Ontheboardwalk I like the idea that tyrion might have been a step ahead on Dany's madness and strategizing for the greater good going forward, but it does seem more likely blind faith. He will be devastated to have helped her destroy kings landing - unless he wanted to destroy the iron throne … nah, that would be way too evil and Machiavellian.

I think Dany almost had to be mad to be able to purposefully fly drogon and burn the ships and arrow thrower thingies without being hit. It was almost like she was stronger with just one dragon - we should have realised she didn't need three. Maybe to her the people in the city were no different to the army of the dead.

ethelredonagoodday · 13/05/2019 21:26

Have just watched it again after spending the day reading countless threads, reviews and social media opinions on it.
I still think it was pretty good. I think that the stuff with Jamie and Euron was a bit shit, but thought the rest of it was good.

MsMarvellous · 13/05/2019 21:27

Surely Tyrion told Dany about Varys in the hope that once she realised more people knew she'd be less likely to go full mad queen. Logic saying that if she does so she gives people even greater reason to rally round Jon. But again, she saw only Jon's betrayal, another step towards the madness.

itswinetime · 13/05/2019 21:31

How did so many unsullied and dorthraki survive winterfell there seems like loads this episode. Way more than survived

MsMarvellous · 13/05/2019 21:33

50% survived. Would Seem like a lot in narrow streets.

JasperRising · 13/05/2019 21:35

The bit before the attack when Tyrion is trying to persuade her to be merciful reminds me of the scene where Tyrion, Dany, Yara and Theon all meet and discuss the fact the they are not their fathers and won't make the same mistakes as their fathers. And then she burns kings landing like her father wanted to and Tyrion was there for the sack of the city as his father had been. All that most hope is quite tragic really. It's as bad as looking back to the early episodes and seeing how positive characters like Robb were...

And I still can't believe that no-one has suggested employing Arya as an assassin even to dismiss it. Surely someone would have thrown it out brainstorming style

RussianSpamBot · 13/05/2019 21:37

I'm a bit gutted the opportunity was missed for there to be some banter about the paternity of Cersei's baby during the fight. Could've been well panto.

JasperRising · 13/05/2019 21:39

And I realise Arya decided to try assassin on her own - it's the fact Dany, Tyrion, Jon, Davos, Sansa etc didn't suggest it

Oilyskinproblems · 13/05/2019 21:41

Oh my god I’ve just watched it and I Loved it! It was PERFECT!

I am aware that I’m in the minority here but that was fantastic. Bring on next week - I have no idea where they’ll go from here (haven’t been on reddit mind Grin)

Decormad38 · 13/05/2019 21:41

Im not sure what people expected in these episodes to be honest. A quick slap round the chops and lets all go live happily ever after in Winterfell. I personally loved the Apocalyptic annihilation. If they were going to show Denerys’ descent into madness this was the only way.

Oilyskinproblems · 13/05/2019 21:43

Just think, if John and Dany had got it on the night before it would have been a very different outcome. He should have just taken one for the team
