So, now we battle for King's Landing and the Throne.

The penultimate episode of this most epic of tales. Can Cersei survive? Will Euron catch on and wonder how Tyrion could have known of the pregnancy? Will Arya and the Hound beat Jaime in the race south?

As ever, no leaks or spoilers please until we watch the episode live together. Our Watch begins....

Did Tyrion definitely grass? It seemed like Danny already knew when they were talking had he told her before and this was like a follow up chat?

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 15:00

itswinetime the only save for Sansa is that Jon is still officially the Warden of the North. He will be worried for Sansa.

Fortunately, Sansa can just stay north of Moat Cailin and the Dothraki and Unsullied cannot take the north by land. Dany would have to do it singlehandedly on her dragon.

TheQueef · 13/05/2019 15:00

On good point, we came in mid talk!

TheLazyDuchess · 13/05/2019 15:01

I thought Davos smuggled Jaime into KL, and that the ceiling of the tunnel entrance had fallen through from the other side. There's piles of rubble everywhere, and as Jaime and Cersei hug, you can see that when the ceiling caves in behind them, it leaves a similar pile to the one blocking their escape route (before the ceiling above them collapses).

Ginger1982 · 13/05/2019 15:02

I'm finding this whole season pretty meh emotionally. Can't argue with the action set pieces but the rest is blah and completely rushed.

Dany - hate her now.
Cersei - not had much to do. Have missed her long haired scheming.
Jaime - I suppose he was always going to die with her but, come on, poor Brienne!
The Hound - 😢

I'm thinking Jon kills Dany and then probably diss himself (was he not brought back by the Red Woman for a reason?)

Westeros elects its first PM! 😆

PissedOffProf · 13/05/2019 15:03

MrsPlesWearsAFez - my feelings too. The story started with one Targaryen being prevented from burning the city just to end with another Targaryen burning the city. The futility of trying to make a shitty system work....

KittensinaBlender · 13/05/2019 15:03

I think that they had come to an impasse. It's one of those moments where you had to nail your colours to one mast or t'other and if Tyrion truly believed that Dany was the best ruler then not dobbing Varys in would be tantamount to treason.

By keeping it a secret he would have been tacitly backing Jon to be king and I think he believed that was wrong (although Ama guessing he's changed his mind a leeetle bit now).

youngestisapsycho · 13/05/2019 15:03

Where does Dany think she's gonna rule from ... she's completey destroyed the Red Keep?! Very disappointed that she still felt the need to burn all those innocent people!

TheQueef · 13/05/2019 15:10

Without her Dragon I think Sansa could take Dani.
I want Cersie to still be alive and die slowly nursing Jaime.

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 15:11

KittensinaBlender you’re right about Tyrion.

He’s not going to be popular for freeing Jaime though (for all the good it did).

InsertFunnyUsername · 13/05/2019 15:14

This will probably make me sound evil, but i was rooting for dany to burn down the city! Every time she has listened to people and tried different strategies it has ended with her loosing her dragons/army, i think it was Olenna Tyrell who said to her "Be the dragon" so i thought it was a good way to show how power hungry she is.

My predictions are Dany sends for sansa to be killed, either jon or arya will kill her, leaving Bran or Sansa ruling (Jon and arya do not want it) and drogon will fly off.

And greyworm attempting to kill jon snow but failing.

InsertFunnyUsername · 13/05/2019 15:15

Sorry there were paragraphs Hmm

itswinetime · 13/05/2019 15:21

I don't think they will leave a dragon alive i did think Jon would kill him but I just thought Arya had that spear made (does she still have that?) is a whizz with a bow and arrow plus new maybe Arya is in kings landing to take out Drogon?

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 15:23

So, King’s Landing - the city built by Aegon the Conquerer - is destroyed by Daenerys the Conquerer.

I wonder if they’ll go back to Oldtown being the ‘sort of’ capital.

InsertFunnyUsername · 13/05/2019 15:24

I am still stuck on what happens with the dragon . The only reason i think drogon will fly off is because he did before leaving dany, and i can't see how they will take him out unless arya does it somehow.

Then again does the dragon have to die if jon rules? He has a slight bond with them, well more than anyone else.

TheLazyDuchess · 13/05/2019 15:25

If Bran could warg into the horse, he could have warged into Drogon and flew Dany somewhere random far far away, and burnt her to a crisp as soon as he managed to shake her off.

Is Brans interest in reality be gone now the NK is dead? Does he really care who sits on the Iron Throne, now the big threat is gone/humanity isn't doomed?

TheLazyDuchess · 13/05/2019 15:26

be*

HandsOffMyRights · 13/05/2019 15:29

Tyrion is puzzling me I know he's blind to his brother and sister but I don't understand why he grassed on Verys, I thought he really liked verys? It just doesn't seem his style.

I think he had such faith in Dany. He was blinded by her and only saw the truth when she burnt KL.

He must play a pivitol role in her downfall next week. In the queue behind Arya and Jon.

InsertFunnyUsername · 13/05/2019 15:32

I think bran will stay in the big white tree he is always near, similar to the previous three eyed raven, and will have no interest in who rules.

I hope sansa doesn't rule, but its looking likely for me.

HandsOffMyRights · 13/05/2019 15:33

I like the idea of a member/s of the Houses surviving and rebuilding a hopeful new world. I'm being optimistic here...

Lannister - Tyrion
Stark - take your pick!
Baratheon - Lord Gendry
Targ - Jon (and possibly Tyrion)

PreseaCombatir · 13/05/2019 15:39

Of we’re now back onto GRRMs version, then the thrones was definitely covered in snow and not ash. In fact it was covered in Snow, with a capital S

BurntSausage · 13/05/2019 15:51

It’s not that I can’t see Dany going Mad Queen in the books, just wondered whether it would play out the same way. One of the main criticisms I’ve seen online today is that Dany wouldn’t kill innocents and made a point about it, then it was a complete volte face with not much build up. I wondered if that’s how GRRM was always going to play it or it would be built up more in the books. Same with Cersei and Jaime’s deaths - is that what he’d got planned all along? Although it did fit the prophecy, if you see it as Jaime leading her where there was no escape/Tyrion telling them to go there indirectly getting them trapped. I’ll just have to wait for the books, if they ever come 😁

BurntSausage · 13/05/2019 15:54

And now all I can think of is that pic of Euron and him being Kenny Everett.

SweetSummerchild · 13/05/2019 16:00

BurntSausage I think it will play out very similarly in the books.

It may be that Jaime actually dies accidentally with Cersei rather than killing her - GRRM has always said he wanted to explore how far a redemption arc could be taken. Sadly, I think she was just the love of his life.

Many in the fandom are suffering from a bad case of cognitive dissonance over Dany’s storyline. The seeds have been very clearly planted in both book and show.

GRRM is a pacifist who managed to avoid the Vietnam War draft due to his anti-war writings. This is just the type of ending he would write for an all-powerful conquerer type.

Lweji · 13/05/2019 16:08

I think Arya might kill Jon and then kill Dany wearing his face.

Jon has already died. So, Arya doesn't need to kill him.

Dany could easily die thinking that Jon had killed her.
