Married At First Sight- is this for real?

This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

I think James and Emma were both lovely but very different people and they both admitted there was ent much physical attraction .

Verity reminds me of Jen from the IT crowd (Katherine Parkinson) - think it’s the voice and the laugh - crossed with Nigella. I thought she looked lovely.

I also think Jack is too young and that he’s probably a TOWIE wannabe but this was as close as he could get to Love Island! He’s not as good looking as he (or his parents!) thinks he is, but he does seem nice and seems like he’ll try and give it his best shot.

I think there might be something in the editing between Jonathan and Stephanie that’s making her look like she’s totally unamused by his antics.

Even when he gives her a gift she doesn’t seem to react in an expected way, so either she’s so used to being treated like shit that she genuinely doesn’t know how to take a compliment or receive a gift appropriately, or it’s been edited to make her look like she can’t stand him!

I’m sure anyone who knew they were being filmed and was actually invested in this idea would put on a better show of being pleased . He reminds me of James Blunt, that ruddy cheeked posh air about him, and although I don’t find him attractive, the fact that he’s just genuinely a nice bloke, I feel like she needs to give him a chance and the attraction might grow.

Or Stephanie just doesn't fancy Jonathan and him keep buying gifts for her is irritating rather than endearing? Just speaking from personal experience ,years ago I was dating someone who was a,lovely person but I just didn't fancy him the nicer he was and the more gifts etc he got me the more he annoyed me it was ent his fault I should never have gone out with him I was on the rebound .

I thought Stephanie was starting to be overwhelmed and then tired of the gift-giving. If you weren't feeling it, you might feel a bit manipulated in to constantly having to be grateful for the next small gift.

My DP loves little, cute presents just picked up from the garage/Co-op/fundraising stall. I am the opposite - I hate clutter and tat and prefer presents that get used up like food or toiletries. It took a bit of learning and compromise on both sides.

I was astounded when Jason was on Tinder within days of marrying Kate; she was STUNNING.

I think one of the issues between them was smoking?

I watch and try and get my head around the fact that they have never met before and know nothing about each other. Mind blowing !!
In traditional arranged marriages I think family / friends know each other and the couple meet before the wedding.
This is just bizarre.

I hold out some hope for Verity and Jack. I think they both want to make it work. Agree his dad is awful.

I missed last weeks, or only caught little bits of it, but did watch the first week with Steph and Jonathon. Steph did say why she found it hard to find someone as she was engaged and he slept with someone else around Christmas and broke her heart. I think she was overwhelmed by Jonathon, which is why she is coming across as aloof. She def does not fancy him at all.

Last weeks couple, Verity and Jack. His dad! How rude! I really felt sorry for Verity, she seems to naive for likes of Jack the lad.

I don't think either couple will work out. Steph and Jonathan don't seem suited at all. Not sure about Jack and Verity.

I actually found Verity quite annoying. Maybe she was just nervous but she kept laughing all the time and, when she did so, she opened her mouth so wide.

Makes me laugh that the Registrar stresses to them about the sanctity of marriage!
