Married At First Sight- is this for real?

This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

DH and I are addicted to MAFS Australia, Ines Basic Bitch was an early highlight but Jessikas proving that morals don’t belong on reality TV

It can be done right - a radio station in NZ called the Edge has done Two Strangers and a Wedding half a dozen times and the couples are still together, the longest marriage must be almost 20 years now

MyGastIsFlabbered · 20/03/2019 21:37

I'm so judgemental...he couldn't rustle up a single male friend for his stag do? He seems a bit of a wimp.

Ratatouille76 · 20/03/2019 21:40

Hes too geeky and wimpy for her.

BridlingtonSand · 20/03/2019 21:41

I'm worried that the bride will be disappointed.

Singlenotsingle · 20/03/2019 21:41

It'll never work. Jonathan's a nice guy, too nice. She's a tough cookie, too tough for him!

NicoAndTheNiners · 20/03/2019 21:42

Yes, I think long term she would eat him alive. They're both nice but too different.

littlebillie · 20/03/2019 21:42

Such a confident thing to do

NicoAndTheNiners · 20/03/2019 21:42

I think the mother of the bride is disappointed.

BridlingtonSand · 20/03/2019 21:43

Urrrrrgh, I'm cringing at the in-laws meeting across the aisle.

HairyToity · 20/03/2019 21:46

I thought the inlaws looked nervous. I would never have matched them. Hope they prove me wrong.

thenightsky · 20/03/2019 21:46

Its hilarious. He's a chinless wonder by the looks. She seems like a strong woman. Miss-match IMO.

PrettyAmazingGrace · 20/03/2019 21:47

From the future clips shown it looks as though she isn't happy and doesn't hide it.

PrettyAmazingGrace · 20/03/2019 21:48

Even in the darkest moments of married life, I'm glad I chose for myself!

BertieDrapper · 20/03/2019 21:50

They've matched a women who is clearly insecure and has jealousy issues with a man with only women friends.... 🤨

NicoAndTheNiners · 20/03/2019 21:53

Also when talking about her ex who broke her heart she nearly cried. She's not over him!

thenightsky · 20/03/2019 21:53

Didn't one of the previous grooms in a past series get himself active on POF within 48 hours of the wedding?

BridlingtonSand · 20/03/2019 21:54

I'm finding this very awkward viewing.

HairyToity · 20/03/2019 21:56

Oh gawd. It's cringey.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 20/03/2019 21:57

@thenightsky I think it was Tinder and one of the "bride's" friends spotted him and reported back.

thenightsky · 20/03/2019 22:00

Ah yes.. it was Tinder!

LindaLa · 20/03/2019 22:00

Steph has awful inner upper arm tattoos, makes it look like she has insane under arm hair.
Things I notice.

Moanranger · 20/03/2019 22:18

Here we go again! I find I get way too invested in this. It took me awhile to warm to him, but I rather liked him by the end. She seems dreadfully insecure, she’s drop dead gorgeous & keeps worrying that the bloke will take one look at her & run. Not hardly.
I think she will doom this, just too wary & looking for problems, & he will get tired of constantly having to reassure her.
Playing Freud, but perhaps dad not being in the picture is the basis of her trust issue.
Sadly, I WILL keep watching.

1st couple no chance!

Redglitter · 20/03/2019 22:33

there's obviously an easy out clause so it's really just a free party and 15 minutes of mediocrity

No apparantly not. Previous couples who have split up have had to wait to get divorced. They're legally married
