Married At First Sight- is this for real?

This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

I’m desperate to hear what the UK couples would have to say about the whole thing, Steph was rude but Jonathan was insufferable, tbh I’d have probably been exactly the same!
