This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

My bet is neither will work out. Steph & Jonathan obvs mismatch; I think she is rather troubled.
I expect Jack will make the “let’s be friends” speech. They get on well but no spark. He is probably better-looking than her previous boyfriends, but that is making her feel insecure, a shame, really, she is perfectly nice looking & has a nice figure. In my experience, it is not good when you feel you are not up to “standard” in the looks dep’t.
Verity looks like the kind of person you would find at ComicCon or as a Trekkie, slightly nerdy.

Verify seems like a lovely person but I'm sure he's not fancying her. Fair play to him for giving it a try though.

Oh it's so uncomfortable. Jonathan is so wet. Steph just seems so angry. Not relaxed and open to the experience.

Verity and Jack seem really badly matched. He's like some cheap Danny dyer and she's more Jane Macdonald. I mean in personality. Not criticising their looks. They're so incompatible

@showmethegin I agree. I actually couldn't watch it. I don't think he's that awful! She is making herself look terrible, behaving like a mean school girl. He deserves better, she clearly thinks she is so much better than him.

Sadly, I agree, which is a shame because she comes across as a lovely person.

I also think Steph is hard work, to put it as politely as possible.

Verity and Jonathan would have been a better match.

When matching I wonder if these so-called experts ever actually step back and ask themselves, "would I want to be in the company of this person at close quarters for a length of time?" Jonathan seems perfectly nice but clearly not the obvious candidate to sweep someone off their feet in a short space of time. And Steph is not suited to the process either way.
The focus seems to be only on things like 'stable, similar career, approach to life' etc. That's great but it doesn't help the spark. How can they not have seen in Steph and Jonathan what we can all see at glance, and put them together?!

I think Steph definitely thinks she's above Jonathan.
She's practically sneering at the thought of them being a match.

But if you look at steph's friends sitting round doing shots and his friend playing pool it's obvious they aren't a match.

Oh it was tough viewing tonight. I actually hid behind my hands cringing when Steph and Jonathan were playing that card game. I think he made some kind of sexual innuendo and it was just cringe. Steph should just go now. He's so wet, she needs a strong personality in a man I think and he is not that!

The other 2 won't go the distance either. He doesn't fancy her. I find her quite annoying, the constant shoulder shaking, mouth wide open, eyes closed laughing. Annoying.

I'm still not a fan of Jack and the I suspect the decision/ponteficating about sex is because at the back of his mind hes banking on an annulment.

I wish verity knew her own self worth. It's like in the last series, the woman being happy because someone "thought she could be someone's wife". Its sad, really a lot of these women need some psychological input because they just dont value themselves. (I say that as a single 30 something)

Also how different are steph and jonathans friendships, they're just at totally different stages in life. Such a bad match. I dont agree that he must be gay though, that's a massive leap.

Steph is a bit of a snob, johnathon is doing everything to try to please her, he likes a bit of fun, she's a bore and think's she's to good for him, i hope jack and verity make it, jack's dad is a pratt,

I thought of Danny Dyer too. I didn't like the fact that the dad was acting as if she had scooped a big prize or something in HIS son. She was taking a chance too, in taking part in the programme. They seem better suited than Jonathan and Steph but that's a fairly low bar.

I don't know what to think re Jonathan and Steph. They are not suited but watching her, in particular, I kept thinking, but you knew this was what you were signing up for..essentially marrying a stranger.

They always go into it believing they'll be the exception to the rule. I do wonder if the "experts" explained why they'd matched them before them marrying/meeting would it make a difference? I suspect they'd still go through with it anyway.

I think Verity has some kind of eye condition because when she blinks it takes longer than usual for her eyes to re-open.

If there are only two couples, one of which is steph and Jonathan who were never suited C4 must have to think if they bother w the show again as it never works.

It seemed as if Verity had to somehow justify herself to be 'worthy' to join that family. Ugh.

I actually feel sorry for Steph. She is clearly bitterly disappointed with Jonathan. And in all honesty, who can blame her? He really is awful. He is like a silly school boy. I don't think she's a snob, she just wants an equal partner. She had been trying to put her trust in the scientists and accept the match, but when she queried why they had been matched, she was shocked at how flimsy the reasons were. She wanted something much stronger. I'll be amazed if they last until next week!

Verity is very annoying. She has no self-worth and just seems grateful for anything Jack throws her way. The shoulder shaking and open mouth thing she keeps doing just make her look like a nervous wreck. Jack is the complete opposite; he totally over rates himself. Clearly gets it from his dad.

Jack seems to be going through the 'love bomb' motions. His joking about verity snoring made me very uneasy. The casual put down and laughing at Verity was horrible to watch. Swiftly followed by the love poem. He comes across as controlling, with the potential to be really nasty later on. Verity should run for the hills. Her confidence is too low for her to survive in a relationship with Jack. He will reel her in with 'romance', put her down and laugh at her, chip away at her already low esteem and keep going until she's a quivering wreck. She would have been better matched with Jonathan. Two geeks together.
