Married At First Sight- is this for real?

This can't be real, surely? Who would be insane enough? I've never seen the show, but do they explain if it's actually an official marriage? I would have thought that the whole concept goes against the solemn nature of the legal contract.

Anyone just looking at photos of Stephanie and Jonathan wouldn’t have put them together, the way they present themselves show two people on different planets, she’s all flicky eyeliner and he’s all polo shirts.

Jack’s dad is a shit, and poor Verity will be horribly humiliated by what he said about her.

I missed the reasons why they were matched, what were they?

What this programme has proved is that the science behind it just doesn't work !!!

In fact it fails miserably.

I think in some ways they need fo ignore what the couples say they want.

Also, I wouldn't be impressed if i was marched with someone because we were noth public sector workers.

'Science' my arse! This programme is just cheap voyeurism really. It's a horror show. While Verity is annoying and Jonathan is wet, neither deserve to be humiliated in front of friends, families and TV audiences. Jack has the potential to be a bully.
Why on earth would anyone want to take part?

I've watched all these series and am surprised that there are only 2 couples this time. Verity seems like a nice girl, but her eyes, so annoying. She had them closed most of the time. It did seem like she was pissed?!

@JaneJeffer I think Verity does everything quite slowly. She talks very slowly too, it would drive me mad. That said she seems like a very nice girl and I hope it works out (although I doubt it will). Jack's dad has issued an apology after his horrible comments on the first show. I suspect because he was told to.

I like Johnathan. I think he comes across a bit wet as he’s trying so hard to make it work. Steph seems like she thinks she is far superior, she’s not even trying.
I think Jack thinks he wants a wife but actually isn’t ready. Verity is lovely and needed someone older and more mature.

Stephanie just doesn't fancy Jonathan and no amount of couples counselling and intervention is going to help.I think the more Jonathan gets the more he will irritate her ,he's a lot older than her and I know age is just a number ,but it felt uncomfortable watching him doing tequila shots with her friends I didn't really want to do that at nearly 40 either, I do wonder what these people think they are letting themselves in for though as she seems to be making zero effort .

I said to dh last night that I liked Jonathan and he rolled his eyes and said " Yeah, buy you really like a posh boy and he's camp and you really like that in a man!"

No clue why Jack and his dad seem to think he’s Gods gift? He really is not. He’s not out of Verity’s league by any stretch of the imagination. I suspect Verity is a nice person but the laughing and eyes thing is incredibly annoying! Maybe it’s a lack of confidence but I just want to tell her to wake up!

Yes Jack does seem to rate himself very highly! Not sure why Verity doesn't value herself, she is lovely!
However if she does stay married to him she could end up like his Mum too

I don't think Jonathan is awful - he has been nothing but complimentary and nice to her all the way through. I think Steph is a sneering bitch. She is behaving atrociously. Rolling her yes, making snide remarks, sneering expression ALL THE TIME! She is certainly not a good ad for someone in a caring, compassionate profession!! Fair enough she doesn't fancy him but she has not given it a chance at all.

She ASKED for someone older, settled, mature - then she wants to spend her time doing shots with them? I can't stand her and her ugly expressions. She has a VERY high opinion of herself.

Verity seems nice but her she is constantly hunched over and the has her eyes closed a lot and her mouth open too much which I suspect could wear thin pretty quickly.

Jack is ok but not half the catch he and his family think he is, having said that he has been treating her pretty well so far I think. I don't think they have a future though.

They should introduce her to Jonathan as others have already said - they could be a good match?

I think the Steph/Jonathan thing is doomed. She didn't bring her cat, that's how invested in the marriage she is. And who is looking after the cat, that's what I want to know.

So when Steph asked the matching panel/experts why they'd put her and Jonathan together, the told her it was because they both seemed to be caring people on the grounds that one of them was a nurse? How flimsy. Where's the 'science' in that?

Some of the most uncaring people I've ever met have been nurses sadly.
