Seeing that we are going to be in need of a third thread... My title makes no sense, does it? I had a funny one in mind earlier but it escapes me now. Should have used hot glue gun to make it stick.

the others put into drafting their own.

But did they actually draft their own?

Oakmaiden · 27/03/2019 17:51

I thought the armholes on Ricardo's top looked a bit small...

JasperRising · 27/03/2019 17:52

SoupDragon yes, Chinelo, thanks! Her drafting skills were amazing. Can't remember whether she got extra credit for it though.

neddle · 27/03/2019 17:54

I think that was Chinelo.

Bunnybigears · 27/03/2019 18:01

For an architect designed origami collar I had expected more. Unless you pulled it upwards to see the layers it just looked kind of normal.

PineappleTart · 27/03/2019 18:03

I was so cross with the result last night, I can't believe Leah has made it through all these weeks, and her transformation dress, the edges looked awful :(

IStillMissBlockbuster · 27/03/2019 18:12

I have only just caught up.

I am not too fussed that Leah didn't draft her own pattern, just because in other made to measure tasks contestants have brought in store bought patterns. So I don't think it's cheating, however, the other 3 showed that skill and she did not (reason number 1 why she should have gone home). Her piece was a rather plain, normal top with some apparently folded decorations (that didn't really stand out so that you could tell) that looked stuck on frankly. Very plain compared to the other masterpieces. (Reason number 2)

Leah is not especially good at sewing, i'm not quite sure how she's beaten Jen this far and her conversion challenge thing was absolutely monstrous. God knows what they were thinking giving that the win. (Reasons 3 & 4)

Anyways, both Riccardo and Juliette would be worthy winners.

SoupDragon · 27/03/2019 18:18

however, the other 3 showed that skill and she did not

But they didn't. I've just returned having been lost down a rabbit hole of amazing origami clothes and the only one where I saw nothing similar was Leah's (which isn't to say there isn't something). I saw one similar to Riccado's but with a different origami motif on the front, Juliette's spiral bodice was readily available and there were similar tops to Jen's. I don't think Leah has done anything less than the others.

SoupDragon · 27/03/2019 18:18

I do think Riccardo should win but I'd be happy with Juliette too.

Wolfcub · 27/03/2019 19:01

I’d like Riccardo or Juliette to win

2rebecca · 27/03/2019 19:11

I like Juliette but wish she'd vary her style a bit. I've seen her do enough single shouldered tops now and they're impractical if you have a bust. Strapless bras are evil things. Popped in to the sewing shop today and 60 people are going to the Sewing Bee final cocktail party next week. Very excited

SoupDragon · 27/03/2019 19:43

I've just realised that I don't actually care who wins - I just enjoy watching the programme!

ElGuardiandenoche · 27/03/2019 23:15

That top is gorgeous Diliite. You are so clever.

Love those Dhoti trousers, though I live in Aladdin style yoga trousers for most of the year so I would Grin. Think I need to do a Pinterest search for some good patterns for Dhoti trousers.

Juliette was robbed in the transformation challenge, hers was by far the better garment.

Ricardo's origami top was a well deserved win for him. The work that went into it was amazing. Also deserved GOTW.

I really think Leah should have walked on Tuesday and Jen should have stayed unless the judges are seeing something we're not.

Veterinari · 28/03/2019 05:49

I’d say that’s because Leah’s waan’t An origami top. She should have gone home.

SoupDragon · 28/03/2019 07:21

My point was that everyone is complaining that she "didn't draft her own" and all the others did. Which they actually don't seem to have done. Hers had as much origami in the collar and bow things on the front as Riccado's single pleated diamond.

SoupDragon · 28/03/2019 07:22

Jen's was poorly presented due to a bad fabric choice and unfinished.

Frenchfancy · 28/03/2019 08:25

It is standard in sewing bee that if someone doesn't finish then they go home (unless of course several of them don't finish)

SoupDragon · 28/03/2019 08:41

I agree. Also, one bad week is enough to send home the best sewist, it's the nature of the programme. The judges acknowledged that Jen was generally better than Leah but this was a bad week.

SoupDragon · 28/03/2019 08:42

I don't actually feel strongly about either of them though. I wouldn't have minded either of them in the final as I think that is between Juliette and Riccardo.

DolorestheNewt · 28/03/2019 13:09

Frenchfancy That's interesting. It's the first series I've watched. I don't know if not finishing should be a worse sin than not fitting the back of a shirt properly. Had Leah attempted to fix the back of her shirt so that it fitted her model, as it should in a M2M challenge, she probably wouldn't have finished either. Seems to open the door to sloppy work in theory, but in practice I guess it works for them! And ultimately, as SoupDragon says, I think it's a bit irrelevant, because the final is Juliette versus Riccardo anyway. Leah is just a third wheel.

CaptainMyCaptain · 28/03/2019 16:19

I think it was always going to be between Juliette and Riccardo from episode 1.

Frenchfancy · 28/03/2019 18:19

Not finishing is definitely a worse sin than doing it badly as far as a competition is concerned. Its like taking a cake out of the oven before it's cooked on bake off. It might have had the potential to be the best cake ever but it is uncooked cake.

SileneOliveira · 29/03/2019 08:33

Just saw this tweet about the Bee which made me laugh:

twitter.com/search?f=tweets&q=%23sewingbee%20cafe&src=typd&lang=en

caption is "Can we talk about the price of the food at the cafe they go to?" They must have blown a fortune on all those cups of tea!!

evilharpy · 29/03/2019 08:36

Patrick speaking French... oh my.

I’d like Riccardo to win.

Iwantacampervan · 29/03/2019 09:03

Patrick speaking French was so much more preferable in every way possible than Gregg's attempt on Masterchef last night.
