We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

Watched 3 eps of The Rebel last night and still went to bed at a very decent time!!!! (i started early!)
It's still really good and the story is moving forward... all the little thread are coming together (thank the lord)... although I'm not completely hooked and feel the need to stay up all night watching!(Healer! WYWS! W!....!) it really is a jolly good caper and it's really heartwearming and giving me the warm and fuzzies.... looking froward to finishing it as I'm 99% sure it all ends well... my criticism? it could have been done and dusted in 20 eps!

Think I'll start Warm & Cozy on Netflix after The Rebel not only is the title promising but it's set on Jeju Island and I watched the first 10 mins and looked intriguing!

I won't lie, there was a wee bit of skipping....because I had the sense of doom. But I appreciated the sense of rebirth at the end.

Well spotted, it's the famous tearooms in Harrogate! Famously without the apostrophe.

Now, I’m not sure if I’ve remembered the name correctly but I really liked their Yorkshire curd tart (egg custard tart with currants) when I last visited in 2001. 😀

Yep, the Yorkshire Curd tarts (more like cream cheese than custard) and Fat rascals are their most famous cakes

I made spicy rice cakes for dinner. The jury is out on whether they are a fave, as we all felt there should be flames licking up the side of the bowl. Fiery barely describes the experience.

Is that the tteokbokki (sp) she’s always eating in The Beauty Inside? Did you buy the rice cakes? It looks really yummy

Yes, I bought 2 different brands from the chilled section at my local Korean store. One had pouches of ready made sauce in the pack and the other had recipes on the back. I learned from previous experience & tasted the sachets - and wisely chose only to add one. 🤯 But the stock called for more flavour so I added some of the gochugan paste I had in the cupboard - marginally less fiery, a small chopped & sweated onion, a few spring onions, a bit of sliced red pepper (not authentic) and some dried beancurd squares. It was very spicy beancurd too, despite claims on the packaging that it was BBQ flavour. It’s a pretty easy dinner with ready rice cakes.

Anyone else been wondering about learning how to play Go? I love watching people get so competitive playing it.

Especially when they slap one on their forehead which seems to indicate an unbeatable card

What next? Anyone seen The Inheritors? It has Choi Jin Hyuk.

The Rebel... Finished! Huzzah! A great ending! And incredibly satisfying! Rewarding me for sitting through all 30 eps! It's a great story with great characters!... But like I said... Think it repeated itself a fair bit!
Epilogue great! Soooo happy over certain tying up of loose ends!

It's a watch it... And leave it for a bit... And then come back to it... Sort of drama!

Next... WARM AND COZY... Which looks very promising!! Jeju Island... Food prep (ML is a chef)... Pretty scenery... Romantic comedy! Super!...

Oh bettys!... 😯😕... Tell me it's a nice little comedy drama?!.... Was looking forward to it!

It is absolutely fine, a little light, but I’ve got sucked in now. It has the coach from FFMW in and a cameo by So Ji Sub in the tub and various other people and a wicked girlfriend and a sweet second romance. There’s lots to like and it is a complete antidote to Money Flower . I think I’ve been hypnotised by its mildness, kind of like watching afternoon tv where you suddenly realised you’ve watched 3 whole episodes of Escape to the Country.

I managed to get through 1 episode of The Inheritors and have rolled into ep 2, though there were a couple of scenes that made me grind my teeth. I’m quite liking sunny Malibu for a change of scene, especially ML’s grand home with infinity pool and views. Some of the acting is so-so, but it might have legs. I will keep you posted.
