We have some lovely occasional posters who have lived in Korea, are Korean or have Korean partners/family members who pop in from time to time to provide the context for some of the more baffling cultural references.

We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, film and kpop when the mood takes us. To get to grips with the lingo, try dramaloveaddicts.proboards.com/thread/24/korean-word-day?page=1

We have a few frequently used acronyms:
FL/2FL = female lead/2nd female lead
ML/2ML = male lead/2nd male lead
SLS = Second Lead Syndrome (where the FL/MLis too thick to realise how much better the 2ML/2FL is)

We also abbreviate titles if they’re long, but only after using the full title & acronym together. Some of the regular favourite actors have been abbreviated too for speed/efficiency, although “him off Black” seems to have stuck for Song Seung-Heon. Don’t be afraid to ask for help/clues if we’re not making sense or have descended into acronym soup.

It was good but not a favourite or top 10. Didn’t get that satisfying sigh afterwards.

At the moment I'm not watching anything that's truly binge worthy! DotS is fine and will keep me ticking over... But it's not a

"I must watch EVERY episode NOW!"

Just started ID Gangnam.... So not completely drawn in yet... And the whole premise of plastic surgery etc doesn't warm me to FL character... Not enough story about her for me to sympathise and empathise yet ... The whole judging and scoring for looks is a bit... 😳 And finding her a bit wet!... However I've only watched 1st ep so far!...

The one I want to completely binge is Psychometric!... It really is excellent! ML. (from an Idol group!) is really really good and engaging! His character is really funny, goofy and endearing... He's GOT a mix of that honey eyed look of Park Hyung Sik (SGBS) and the enthusiasm and openness of NJH (WFKBJ)...
story is great... Mystery.. Comedy... Romance... All the good stuff! Secondary characters good too!
And... Subtitles are super quick! 😂

I have discovered that 20 mins of viki or Netflix on my phone here & there, eg in my lunchbreak or over breakfast, soon adds up - if you don’t mind bitty viewing.

I have given up on ordinary tv so just watch kdrama in the evenings. Plus the odd bits here & there in the day on breaks.

Hmmm. Poorly DS is the feverish cuckoo who has commandeered the sofa in the living room, so no big telly kdrama viewing for a bit. We’ve agreed a timeshare deal for later, so I’ll save the good stuff for then.

Have either of you tried Welcome to Waikiki on viki yet? If so, any good?

Yes, it didn’t pass the 10 minute shuffle for me, though possibly was in the wrong mood.
I can recommend Chief Kim on Viki, or 30 but 17. Also Familiar Wife

FL from DotS probably qualifies as TV royalty/national treasure - she’s done tons of stuff, starting in childhood. She was FL in Encounter, which was another older woman/younger male love story, very gentle and rather lovely.

I’ve started watching Chief Kim and have decided Namgoong Min basically plays the same character in everything I’ve seen him in. That said, there is something enjoyable about his quirky performances that pleases me, particularly his comic timing. I love that he’s turned up at his trashy office to face off with his gangster colleagues in his fleece emoji PJs in episode 1. There’s something intrinsically oddball funny about his performances.

Oh good I’m glad you’ve started it, it gets better! And has lovely eyes from Just Between Lovers as the prosecutor. I think Namgoong Min plays a very different role in Dr Prisoner which is on air now and getting big ratings.

Got side tracked into I am not a robot with DS, but I will go back to Chief Kim when the kids go to bed.

Psychometric - it's good! But I shouldn't have started watching until all the episodes are up

There's something wrong with the 'brother' though, he gives off funny vibes and there was a shot just now (ep 3) where they pulled focus to show a poster for The Mask so I think he's hiding a secret.

OMG - I hadn’t joined the dots between the ML in Just Between Friends and the prosecutor in Chief Kim. He looks completely different with boring hair and boring suits etc. He also seems taller in this, though poss because the architect 2ML in JBF was so improbably tall and broad, everyone else looked tiny.

Bettys! Oh he's definitely hiding! But he's a good sort!... I'm 😱😡.. I started before whole thing up but it does come around pretty quickly and subs are super fast.. I guess its very popular... I usually watch both new eps on weds as they're up by then!

I just noticed there are 30 (!) episodes of I am not a Robot. I’m dying to know how quickly he cottons on to her being human, because in ep 3 she saunters up to the big house for her day’s duties with a really obvious bruise on her calf. 🙄 His observation skills are not great.
