Here’s my guess: Chris - husband of the woman who brought 100 years of solitude book to Perez. The actor playing him is Derek Ridell - too well known for a marginal part (also played the baddie in the second series of The Missing).
The people extortion will be something to do with the refuge they’re setting up. I don’t think the wife is involved, although there was that convo between Perez and the victim’s mum about never turning a blind eye even if the murderer was a friend.

I wish they wouldn't put famous people in small but significant parts as it makes them too easy to spot.

It makes me want to move to Shetland. Beautiful.

Thats why I was asking who the couple were as I recognised them both from other programmes and thought it likely that they will play a major part.

So who are they in connection to Perez?

I don't think they've made it clear - but I've assumed school friends of Jimmy, Cassie and Duncan come back to Shetland. No idea why I decided that though!

I was confued too about the new couple. What sort of refuge are they setting up and for whom? The woman acted as if she was a close relative but has an irish accent. Their marriage isn't "perfect" so perhaps, if not a relative, she'll be a lurve interest for a conflicted Perez and/or the husband will be involved in the trafficking.

I thought she was an ex girlfriend of Perez who hadn't learnt how to let go. She seemed a bit territorial to me.

The scenery was astonishing but I did wonder if they managed to film during the 3 good days of summer and just how big the midges are up there.

I believe they film the vast majority of it in mainland Scotland. Perez’s house is somewhere in Renfrewshire and the police station is in or near Paisley...?

Perez's house is one of the Lodberries in Lerwick. The police station is also in Lerwick. Some scenes are set in Ayrshire- the trees tend to be a giveaway- Shetland has very few!

Guessing you live in Burra MrsAmaretto ? Minn beach is one of my favourite places - can while away hours watching the seals.
