...tomorrow and I’m excited!! Anyone else?

Get on my screen Jimmy Perez!

It looks great from the trailer too...

OP posts:
DiseasesOfTheSheep · 19/03/2019 22:07

Duncan called Jimmy "Mary" by mistake, hence Jimmy called him "Fran". Which is delightful. Plot holes be damned, that last scene makes me happy!

Igavebirthtoabanana · 19/03/2019 22:08

I agree retro sigh

Why did Alice dump Perez? Was it because she was offended for being a suspect? Well, bye byeh! And indeed, who tipped off the van guy if she swears she didn’t tell anyone? Hmm..

Loved the Perez and Duncan unison in the end.

RictusGin · 19/03/2019 22:11

Thanks Diseases!

DuggeesWoggle · 19/03/2019 22:22

I think Alice would have been a very high maintenance relationship, Jimmy's well shot of her. Still not convinced she didn't know - how else did Maguire get tipped off?

And what about the big guns? The ones who the chap who topped himself in custody were scared of? He had said they were everywhere and it went higher than anyone could imagine. Chris hardly seemed like a criminal mastermind really and I didn't get the impression that the guy that killed himself was talking about the Nigerian gangmasters, it sounded more local.

Lots of unanswered questions!

IRanSoFarAway · 19/03/2019 22:23

That was the first series of Shetland I have watched, loved it! Agree, who tipped off Maguire? Could watch Douglas Henshall all day...

Bowchicawowow · 19/03/2019 22:25

Alice was more bothered Jimmy asked her a couple of questions than her husband was a people trafficker Confused

JessMariano · 19/03/2019 22:36

Yes I love the Duncan and Jimmy friendship.

It’s probably quite true to life that they just got the small time people and not the big guns. They’d need way more police to bring down a network like that surely?

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 19/03/2019 23:08

Can we just take a moment to thank the lord (by which I mean, whoever writes these things) that Tosh's new chap doesn't seem to be involved and is just a straight up lovely muppet Grin

Janus · 19/03/2019 23:20

Loved the ending with Duncan too.
I was just googling Douglas henshall as he is rather lovely, Wikipedia says he’s 53 😳. He doesn’t look anything like 53 does he? Can’t be right!

Snugglepiggy · 20/03/2019 06:42

I can forgive any plot holes for DH acting in that last episode in particular. And whilst I felt sorry that he wasn't going to find someone lovely to love him -Alice wouldn't have been right - the last scene with Duncan was perfect. And yes to Tosh and her man.

duplodancer · 20/03/2019 06:43

Sorry to hijack but any idea where I can watch the first season of this?

Bowchicawowow · 20/03/2019 07:36

I feel that it’s a bit of a let down to have six episodes of a story only to be told in the last ten minutes there’s a document which incriminates a minor character. He was nothing to do with the trafficking story before this point.

DuggeesWoggle · 20/03/2019 07:45

If anyone has Scenic Crime Drama in a Cold Place withdrawal, can I recommend Trapped on iPlayer? It's Icelandic, fabulous scenery, dark plot that isn't too fast paced, family secrets etc etc. And a female detective with a good line in wrinkled brows like Tosh. It's just finished now so don't read the MN thread if you don't want spoilers.

Charley50 · 20/03/2019 07:54

janus I think he looks exactly 53. Gotta say he's very sweet but I don't have the hots for him, like y'all do.
I think he always looks slightly pissed and glassy-eyed.
And his pea coat looks too tight.

ChoccyJules · 20/03/2019 09:50

Bit disappointed with how they tied it all together (or didn’t) last night, plot holes galore as others have said.

Perez seemed to spend most of the episode with something in his eye (mind you he is particularly cute like that).

I preferred the previous series. But hooray for Tosh and Dippy.

kaytees · 20/03/2019 13:46

Man, I waited all morning to watch that and I feel personally let down that we don't know who text maguire to tell him! I guess we're meant to think Alice told Chris...

Belindabelle · 20/03/2019 13:56

Is it bad that I am trying to talk my Husband into buying a navy blue pea coat so I can act out my Perez fantasies?

OllyBJolly · 20/03/2019 14:30

Dougie Henshall has tweeted that the BBC haven't made a decision yet on whether they will commission another series.

DarlingNikita · 20/03/2019 14:44

We should all email praising it and making clear that we'd all watch it.

Will be back once I've watched the final episode.

trickyex · 20/03/2019 16:23

I love Shetland esp Perez and Tosh but I thought the lastt episode was a bit poor.
Needed to know about the tip off and the whole Alice thing seemed off. Hiopefully they will film more though.

beanaseireann · 20/03/2019 17:02

Was was threatening Perez daughter ?
Who tipped off the Zezi's captor ?
Imagine watching a pub for a major criminal murderer/ people trafficker - Alice's husband and only keeping an eye on one door !!!
A rushed ending.

trickyex · 20/03/2019 17:20

Oh yes, good point about losing Chris, that was pretty rubbish policing.

implantsandaDyson · 20/03/2019 17:30

Did Sandy know about the ransom drop/trap? He hasn't sat well with me this series. I know his ineptitude knows no bounds but leaving the pen in the cell, asking for info in return for messages to the suspects wife all jarred a bit too much.
When Perez told him he was suspended - the conversation where he was told to hand over his badge/card, work computer and work phone seemed a bit laboured. I know it hasn't been confirmed that there'll be a further series but if the BBC passes, I wouldn't bet against another network stepping in.

FintyTin · 20/03/2019 18:57

My newly-amended theory is that Rhona tipped Maguire off. She has had Sandy suspended so that he has to hand back his phone (hence Jimmy specifically mentioning it); and she’ll now get hold of it and put Maguire’s number on it to frame him.

topcat2014 · 20/03/2019 19:39

I never really got the fish factory bit - and didn't realise the drippy boyfriend works there. Glad he didn't turn out to be a wrongun.

As I said earlier in these threads 'Chris' was also the driller killer in the missing - so his card was marked.

Quite sweet to have the daughter going away with one of the inept PCs though.

Of course Sandy is v ineffectual, (I speak as I find, I spent 10 years as a Special Constable, and was actually a bit shit at it :))
