You have to think logically, why would a batchelor police officer buy an entire house on his own. I dont think he needs the space and he certainly wont have the money.

mrsrhodgilbert · 07/03/2019 15:03

I wonder if a young Lewis will appear in the next series

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 07/03/2019 15:12

Mogtheexcellent - yes you are right. It was only a fleeting thought. Mind you, in those days many police personnel lived in police residential properties (unless they were just available to those with families).

Lewis only met morse in the first epusode of morse

Although 8f your talking about the lewis of tje books tje time line would be right byt the lewis of tje tv series was much much younger and only just promoted to DS in 1987 - 17 years after the next series of endeavor is due to.be set.

Unless you think a DS in his mid twenties in 1987 would have spent 17 years being a DC then i think its umlikely dont you

Elderflower14 · 07/03/2019 15:36

When will McNutt appear???

Unless you think a DS in his mid twenties in 1987 would have spent 17 years being a DC then i think its umlikely dont you Unless not becoming a freemason well and truly put his career on stall? Or maybe he didn't pass his sergeant's exam (although that seems highly unlikely!).

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 07/03/2019 16:42

He had passed his sargents exams in 1987 - he was morse's new sargent

If he was in his twenties in 1987 - hes not goung to be even out of school in 1970 is he???

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 07/03/2019 17:22

I thought you were talking about Morse not Lewis (clearly skim read your post too quickly).

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 07/03/2019 17:39

Morse is already a sargent in endeavor and gas been for the last two series thats whu george fancy came in as DC in last years series.

He was an inspector in 1987 - thats why the series was orginally called inspector morse it only got shorted to just morse later

SaturdayNext · 07/03/2019 18:07

Was he an inspector or a chief inspector in 1987?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 07/03/2019 19:53

Errrr good question - i'm not actually sure.

Didnt job title change during the course of morse effectively the same job different title

AnneEyhtMeyer · 07/03/2019 20:24

He was definitely Chief Inspector by the end.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 07/03/2019 21:02

Yes ny the end - i was talking about the begining in 1987

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/03/2019 19:17

Just watched the first couple of seconds of The Dead of Jericho and in the opening titles it says John Thaw as Chief Inspector Morse.

mogtheexcellent · 08/03/2019 20:13

I watched the dead of Jericho yesterday. I lived very close to the murdered ladies house. Grin

sluj · 08/03/2019 20:54

Strangely enough, I have also been inspired to watch Morse again and downloaded season 1. We watched Jericho this afternoon, the quality of the film is great but some of the ladies clothes Grin

Clawdy · 09/03/2019 23:01

I remember that moment mentioned upthread when Morse meets Abigail Thaw in the first Endeavour episode, and she says "Haven't we met before? " When he says no, she smiles and says "In another life maybe...." Then in the final episode of that series, as Morse gets into his car, someone says " What do you see yourself doing in years to come, Morse? " He glances up into the car mirror and John Thaw's eyes are looking back at him. Anyone else remember that? So moving.

Not that this changes your point. Because yes it was a brilliant and very touching moment. In fact its one of my favourite moments of endeavor as a whole.

But it wasn't the end of the first series or any series it was a brilliant way to end what was at the time a one off pilot in january 2012. The first series was broadcast in may 2013

Clawdy · 10/03/2019 08:07

Ah right, thanks Naught. Glad someone else remembered it too!

SparklySneakers · 10/03/2019 08:22

I'm sad that 8pm tonight will not be Endeavour time Sad I've got a good book though so will go to bed with that.

Bright's dying wife was playing a wealthy Russian in Shakespeare and Hathaway last week.....
