Box shot the 'really bad baddie' and Morse shot Box.

Thanks- that's what I thought- just checking.

SparklySneakers · 04/03/2019 16:51

How did Morse shoot box in the back when he was in front of him??

PetalPearl · 04/03/2019 16:57

Ah ! McNutt is probably the one I’m thinking about 👍🏻 I’ve loved ALL of the Morse/Lewis Endeavor series and have lots of favourite moments but I ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ the first ? ( might have been 2nd ? ) ever episode of Endeavor when he meets Abigail Thaw’s character for the first time and as he leaves, she asks him his name again and if she’d met him before.... Endeavor replies, no....to which she says, ‘Another life, maybe ?’ Yet another subtle reference to her dad, John Thaw. Such clever writing 👏🏻

Elderflower14 · 04/03/2019 17:00

I watched it again just now. Box shot the seargent and the seargent hit Box!

Petal yy I remember that scene, so poignant & a very touching tribute.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 04/03/2019 17:12

I love the refernces to Thaw, and indeed to Colin Dexter.

Wasn't there a similar moment between endeavor and frazil in this series. I always think he turns in to your dad abigail. I know its meant to be a little joke for the audiences to enjoy.

I love that the old morse game of spotting colins cameos still exists even though Colin is no longer here. Mr quill the author, and the dexter was her graffettii

diddl · 04/03/2019 17:22

"How did Morse shoot box in the back when he was in front of him??"

I thought that!

Did Box turn to get a better shot at Jago?

I think when they all arrived at the flats, Bright took over & Box was so out of his depth, it seemed to indicate that he was a small player.

"Is he working you with his foot??"GrinGrin

But oh, Bright, when he was talking to Fred about meeting his wifeSadSad
I think many other actors & it would have been corny.

And her calling to him "is that you Dulcie?"-just heartbreaking.

EjectorCrab · 04/03/2019 17:36

He didn’t shoot him in the back. Box and Jagger were facing each other when they shot each other. Both shot in the front.

AlphaSigma · 04/03/2019 17:45

Just watched it. Bloody hell, me and DH were on the edge of our seats!
Excellent drama.

Mr Bright and the kids too, I though he was a goner!

Encyclo · 04/03/2019 18:44

Box was so incompetent, and out of his depth. I’m delighted he’s gone but I kind of wanted to see him suffer a bit more and for longer.

Bright was superb in this series. Thinking about how badly his relationship with Morse started in series one, then seeing him look at Morse with such admiration and love at the end of last nights episode, the evolution of that relationship really is a masterclass of acting by Anton Lesser and Shaun Evans. Not one word or expression wasted.

SparklySneakers · 04/03/2019 18:50

I don't think I've ever been so bowled over by acting as I have been with Endeavour. I had a google of Roger Allan and see he won the Laurence Olivier award twice. Well deserved. He should get an award for Endeavour too.

dontcallmelen · 04/03/2019 18:54

Yy the acting is superb, they should all get awards.

Missmarplesknitting · 04/03/2019 18:59

I love Dr DeBryn too.
Apparently the actors are all really nice, no egos. It really shows in the way the programme cones across.

Honestly think it's one of the best series we have in years.

Although line of duty back soon too. Yay.

AlphaSigma · 04/03/2019 19:04

Every character is superbly cast.
Mr Bright is my favorite.

Wandaaa · 04/03/2019 20:20

I also thought Thursday was a goner, I kept thinking they can't kill off Bright as who was going to look after his wife. Loved how the kids saved the pelican man.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/03/2019 20:30

I thought this last episode was a load of rubbish - Bright and Thursday both getting over-sentimental stupidly contrived storyline - very disappointing.

Especially as it contains so many actors I love - Anton Lesser, Roger Allam (be still my beating heart!) and James Bradshow, to name but the regulars.

And the moustache was bloody awful!

SparklySneakers · 04/03/2019 20:45

I love DeBryns dark humour. I love morse's quiet yet misses nothing manner until he's really animated about something. Still waters 85% of the time. And when that smile flashes...ooph! Bright is like a grandfather. Traditional, dignified, holds himself with the utmost decorum and treats all with respect. Thursday is a father figure, a man of morals (albeit strays at times) and family values who is the job, a fantastic mentor and faithful colleague and boss even though he doesn't pull rank unless disrespected. Win, the faithful, loyal, proud and understanding yet lonely wife and mother who takes no shit. Strange, a man of courage and morals who put himself at risk to get justice for Fancy. Joanie, she's her mother and father's daughter who's out to make a difference in the world. You can tell where her values and work ethics come from.

I liked Trewlove and was sad she went. She was a rising star with a very sharp mind and very perceptive.

I hated the newcomers Box and ginger beard. Box weak yet playing the tough guy. Ginger beard an arrogant twat who was threatened by any decent officer because he was corrupt to the core.

I have loved every episode. Excellent, excellent drama.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/03/2019 20:46

Naught I agree - we know Morse, Strange and De Bryn all survive but I was genuinely on the edge of my seat watching last night.

When Bright said "A moment's courage or a lifetime of regret" my heart was in my mouth, and when Strange got out of the car to stand with his City colleagues I cheered. It is totally perfect telly.

SparklySneakers · 04/03/2019 20:51

Normally at the end of a series I feel very sad but it left me on such a happy high. I felt genuinely elated and satisfied with the ending.

The only outstanding mystery is the missing Masonic artefacts... Strange returning them to their "rightful place" in exchange for intelligence on the corrupt cops?

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 04/03/2019 21:38

I watched that thinking Tommy from Ground Force had had a bit of a career change Grin

BitOfFun · 05/03/2019 00:47

I've just watched it on catch-up- superb!

sluj · 05/03/2019 07:40

I watched it last night. Several heartstopping moments and the best TV so far this year. Loved the Gunfight at the OK Corral scene.

The moustache has also grown on me....

SparklySneakers · 05/03/2019 07:52

Tash has grown on me too. He'd be sexy wearing a burlap sack to be honest. I like a man in uniform and he's got that squaddie look about him. Although I detest facial hair.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 05/03/2019 08:33

I love DeBryns dark humour.

Same here - I DO love DeBryn!

Of the three characters from Morse who are in Endeavour, he is by far the best IMO.

glamorousgrandmother · 05/03/2019 09:20

Having watched all of this series I now want to watch the earlier one (s) are they on the itv hub? Also I want to watch Morse as it must have been on at a time when I didn’t watch much TV . Is it on the hub or Netflix?
