Also now we have Silent Witness and LoD in the Horizom I may never leave the house.

OP posts:

AnyFucker - absolutely not! Woman hating dramas such as Luther, McMafia, The Fall, The Bridge - I could go on, are just violent misogyny wrapped up as entertainment. Huge contrast to Call the Midwife which is a gently feminist story that pulls no punches. I just can't watch stuff like Baptiste anymore. Maybe I'm getting angrier as I get older. Luther was particularly relentless.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/02/2019 22:16

I thoight was good

And a twist with the head and not being uncle

Assume dog found one of the limbs

Feebeela · 17/02/2019 22:17

Documentaries raise awareness. Entertainment is titillation. Abosolutely this issue needs to be raised and shouted about, but this is NOT the way.

notahiker · 17/02/2019 22:19

Assume dog found one of the limbs

Good point. 👍

BartonHollow · 17/02/2019 22:19

The first series of The Fall was very classy and made a lot of quite feminist statements via Gillian Anderson's character

It went south after that I grant you.

AnyFucker · 17/02/2019 22:20

I boycotted Luther after the 1st couple of episodes

Fucking horrible programme despite how fanciable the lead character was meant to be

rookiemere · 17/02/2019 22:22

I hate dramas where the main characters speak in heavily accented English, it reminded me of Eldorado.
Oh and yes human trafficking sex trade yawn yawn yadda yadda

BartonHollow · 17/02/2019 22:22

Oh me too!

All the time I get asked in real life

DID YOU WATCH LUTHER LAST NIGHT in salivating tones

Nope not watched since Series 1. Misery Porn.

UrsulaPandress · 17/02/2019 22:27

My mojo has gone. Didn’t spot the trans then fell asleep.

RoseAndRose · 17/02/2019 22:28

Well, looks as if those betting on it being all about violence towards women are wrong.

As the only victims of assault and murder so far are men.

Though we don't yet know what will happen to Number Six, though it's presumably not fatal as New Girl has done it before.

Is thing in tulip field parts of murdered man? It can't be Natalie, despite the heart pendant with the N, as she's just turned up.

EveSaidWhat · 17/02/2019 22:28

'No women murdered yet, just a man.'

Yes a man suffocated and decapitated and another man violently attacked and presumably murdered with a snooker ball? I must've missed the torture and mutilation of women.

I thought it was good. I'll watch next week.

AnyFucker · 17/02/2019 22:32

The prostitution and trafficking of women just passed you by then ? It's just wall paper, isn't it. So commonplace in these dramas not even worth a comment. All folks can manage in defence of this programme is to say "no women murdered yet, nerr nerr". Ok then.

NigellasGuest · 17/02/2019 22:37

I was just pointing out that it's a man who has been killed, without the nerr nerr part!

Ratatouille76 · 17/02/2019 22:43

I felt so angry at how it had to yet again be a prostitution storyline. Why couldn't it be a young man who had gone missing ?

MsOtisRegrets · 17/02/2019 22:45

AnyFucker - why are you watching and posting about this if it makes you so angry?

Ellieboolou27 · 17/02/2019 22:45

I liked it, then again I like a bit of misery porn. Can’t get myself in a flap about prostitution and trafficking for a tv show. You either like it or you don’t.

user1457017537 · 17/02/2019 23:02

I want those injections I bet they are much better than the shit hormones given to women.

Encyclo · 17/02/2019 23:11

I’m finding it gripping. I missed every single one of the twists. The murder victim is one of my fave actors. Sad to see him go so early on.

AnyFucker · 17/02/2019 23:12

MsOtisRegrets, why not ?

This is a thread for comments about tv shows.

RedForShort · 17/02/2019 23:24

Where did the message about knowing the truth about Zalinku (if that is the name) come from. Evidently missed it being mentioned.

RedForShort · 17/02/2019 23:31

I actually think if the trafficking and forced prostitution is a sideline it's actually worse. I'm not 100% convinced that (fictional) programmes that are about trafficking are all bad. If it expresses the utter horror of it. (Not seen the programmes mentioned above.) But making it a bit a sideline like it's nothing is awful.

user1457017537 · 18/02/2019 00:16

Matrioski on Sky catch up is about the trafficking of Eastern European girls and extremely harrowing

HoraceCope · 18/02/2019 07:52

Looking forward to catching up with this

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/02/2019 08:29

I guessed the woman who turned out to be the brothel madame was transgender but not that she was Zalinku.

Have no idea where the plot is taking us otherwise at the moment?

It will be interesting to find out how the guy murdered at the beginning fits into it all.

Maybe Tom Hollander's character is Mr Big?

Worried for Baptiste's family with them unknowingly under surveillance. How long before that is discovered one wonders?

beanaseireann · 18/02/2019 08:55

How did Baptiste jump to the conclusion that the transgender woman was the Romanian baddie so quickly ?
Or did I get that right?
I didn't even guess she was transgender Hmm
I just noticed the beautiful dressing gown and thought she was a secret druggie.Blush
Is that Baptiste's apartment or are he and his wife staying in their daughters apartment or do they all live together?
The police chief adding a little liquor to her coffee. What's that about ?
