Can you believe we are on thread 50! This is for all discussions on the BBC series Our Girl and any possible future series. Reference to Captain James is particularly welcome.

I'm on the final episode now. Having binged on the next 3 series, I had forgotten what it was about! If only OG had had so many episodes. These platoons have believable numbers in them too!

At the same time as watching this (well, not EXACTLY at the same time), I'm binge-watching the third series of The Last Kingdom. Makes for interesting contrasts.

Magi84 · 13/02/2019 10:19

Well Soldier Soldier certainly seems to have been the right choice to keep our thread going! So glad you are all finding it worthwhile as I certainly have. Interesting as things change so much in each ongoing series and it is all credit to the producers and actors that it seems such a natural progression. Certainly good to see proper numbers in the platoons etc as ILove mentioned.

One other bit of news, you may have caught up with already, is that Fleabag series 2 starts on BBC 1 on 4th March.

Ilovelblue · 13/02/2019 14:18

Yes Magi there was an article about Fleabag in this weekend's newspaper supplement. Shame BA won't be in it this time.

I have just finished the last episode of series 4 - I do wish you'd told me it was going to be sad. (Not quite as sad as Elvis and the letter from the grave but sad nonetheless).

Looks as if I might have to buy series 5 now!

OP posts:
Magi84 · 13/02/2019 15:07

Oh dear ILove. Didn't want to mention any details along the way. I can see you are as addicted as me - you're getting through each series at a rate of knots😇

Rhubarb01 · 13/02/2019 16:40

I know which episode you mean magi and ilove and I snivelled my way through that one a year or so ago. I was surprised at how much it affected me after all these years and having vaguely remembered the story anyway.

kazzaD66 · 13/02/2019 17:26

ilove in an interview, BA did say he was in the new series of Fleabag but not very much. Whether that means a glimpse of him in a crowd scene or (hopefully) a bit more than that but not as much as Series 1, I don't know!

eejittwo · 15/02/2019 17:21

Luke Pasqualino as the director, reacting with fastidious disdain when his flick is called a horror movie, also suavely embodies the professional hypocrisy and male power structure that is the play’s unerring target. www.theguardian.com/stage/2019/feb/15/berberian-sound-studio-review-donmar-warehouse
Don't care how suave he is, still don't want to see a horror play.

Magi84 · 15/02/2019 17:51

Thanks for the link eejit. Just read the article and it sounds to me as if the word "horror" fits that film perfectly. Not my cup of tea even if the delectable LP is in it.

Magi84 · 16/02/2019 08:44

Of course I meant "play" not "film"😵

Ilovelblue · 20/02/2019 23:49

Evening all.

Good job I'm too far away from London to have even considered going to see LP in his play - sounds as if it would have been a total waste of money!

I'm currently binge watching series 5 of Soldier Soldier and would like to warn you all that there's another bl**dy boxing match. Almost as boring as the first one.

We're on location in Australia for some of this series. No expense spared.

I need to count up the number of episodes I've watched so far.

Are we on for the watchalong of the first episode of series 2 on Thursday?

OP posts:
eejittwo · 21/02/2019 07:15

I'll be there.

Rhubarb01 · 21/02/2019 08:10

Morning fellow Fusiliers! Hope you are all having a good week.

Will be on parade at 9pm. Just one query, though ilove, isn't it episode 7 of series 1 tonight? Last week's ended with Dave in the clink for 6 months and Donna somewhere on the M1 with a trucker.

Just want to make sure we are all watching the same episode or it could make for interesting comments.Grin

Ilovelblue · 21/02/2019 08:41

You're right as always Rhu. I'm just too far ahead of myself with my binge watching. Sorry.

Magi84 · 21/02/2019 09:25

Glad to see you're 'soldiering' on ILove. Series 5 eh? It will amaze you if you do count up the number of episodes you have watched. I agree about yet another boxing one but I suppose they had to cover all the diversities in army life.

I now find myself cherry picking from episodes I liked best and rewatching. Must admit the last episode of series 3 is still one of my real favourites.

eejittwo · 21/02/2019 17:29

Magi, I do the same with OG. Series 2 eps 2 and 3 are my faves, along with 3:3 and the first half hour of 3:4. I’ve got very skilled at fast-forwarding through anything with Dr Dullandboring or the Obnoxious Brat.Grin

Magi84 · 21/02/2019 19:29

Yes eejit I'm the same with OG series 1 - parts of episodes 3, 4 and 5. The ff with me is generally Smurf I'm afraid. I know he was a nice lad and all that but he did get on my nerves a bit. I knew series 2 was your favourite and I can understand why as on the whole I enjoyed it too and certainly didn't dislike Elvis. If I do rewatch it at all I too am expert at ff out Dr Dull and boring and the Jihadi convert.

When I read some of this back I realise just how much tv I do watch. Not a misspent youth with me more a misspent old age Hmm

Ilovelblue · 21/02/2019 20:34

Good heavens, James Nesbitt has just turned up as a mad Irishman in series 5.

Yes, the end of series 3 was very poignant, as was the end of series 4.

I hardly dare reckon up how many of these episodes I've watched now. In my defence, I have usually been doing something else at the same time - emails, sewing or whatever.

I know what you both mean eejit and magi about fast forwarding over certain bits. Smurf used to wind me up as did Dr Dull. I could watch Elvis over and over again.

Looking forward to our watchalong - need to make a drink beforehand.

Evening

Will be putting the kettle on in a minute and getting settled. If I remember rightly, the last episode of series 3 was the one I think of as the 'Kate and Kieran' one - amongst other things. I think series 3 is one of my favourites as they had really got into the swing of things by then. Nice to think of all those episodes to come. I can't imagine OG 4 or 5 (depending on your viewpoint) is likely to appear much before October. It's such a shame it doesn't really excite my enthusiasm much.

Magi84 · 21/02/2019 20:50

Yes Rhu it is the Katie and Kieran episode. I very much liked her singing "you don't know me".Funny I never liked Lesley Vickerage in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries but I did like her in this.

Rhubarb01 · 21/02/2019 20:56

That's a big fat ahhhhh! moment from me Magi - looking forward to it.

Rhubarb01 · 21/02/2019 21:00

So, here we go with Episode 7 of series 1 - "Flying Colours."

Pressing play.....now!

Ilovelblue · 21/02/2019 21:00

Here goes ladies! Last episode in this series! (Though I was ahead of myself this morning, sorry).

Rhubarb01 · 21/02/2019 21:01

It's a shooting party but not exactly Downton Abbey Style.

There's Major Tom handling his big guns.

Rhubarb01 · 21/02/2019 21:02

The first rumours of regiment mergers.
