Can you believe we are on thread 50! This is for all discussions on the BBC series Our Girl and any possible future series. Reference to Captain James is particularly welcome.

So, the penny drops for Donna - sad, naïve and very cheap all round.

Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:36

The Lt Colonel is Jeremy Clyde (thanks Google!). He is now 77 years of age.

The truth of the situation is starting to dawn on both Juliet and Nick. I suppose the early 90's were the time when women really started to think they ought to have it all - sadly the army isn't very flexible about these things.

eejittwo · 12/02/2019 21:37

UKTV seems to have skipped a bit as I’m way ahead.

Rhubarb01 · 12/02/2019 21:38

I feel a little bit sorry for Donna here - she does really hate the situation she's ended up in. She didn't expect this when she married him.

Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:38

I'm at the trial with Nick giving the defence for Tucker eejit.

Now we learn of Dave's chaotic upbringing and troubled early life - I suppose it's not necessarily uncommon to find people with troubled backgrounds looking for stability - after all Molly's early life was a bit aimless and her Dad certainly wasn't a role model.

eejittwo · 12/02/2019 21:41

I’m way past the trial and know the verdict.

Rhubarb01 · 12/02/2019 21:41

Ah - poor Dave he really is contrite.

Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:41

Very true Rhu.

Wasn’t Tucker the ace boxer last week?

Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:44

Who were all the other people in court? I should have expected a military court to be closed, not there for Joe Soap to watch.

Six months in the slammer but at least he gets to stay in - or the rest would never have been - imagine no Robson and Jerome!

Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:44

No eejit, that was Tony Wilton I think.

Gosh Donna's lounge is like a teenager's bedroom - it says everything about her really. I wonder how old she was supposed to be?

Rhubarb01 · 12/02/2019 21:47

Oh it's all rather sad - poor Nick and Juliet. Nick is being so 'terribly decent' about it.

Rhubarb01 · 12/02/2019 21:49

It's really quite an emotional episode. I do feel for Dave here. He's broken. Paddy is a good mate.

Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:49

Good grief Donna, do you ever give up? I wonder how far she had managed to hitch?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 12/02/2019 21:50

And a leopard cannot change her spots....especially if she needs to hitch a lift up north.

Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:50

Oh well, I may as well watch the last episode of this series now!

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 12/02/2019 21:51

Are we ok for when? Next Thursday?

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 12/02/2019 21:51

I liked that episode. They did a good job of getting to the heart of all the characters.

eejittwo · 12/02/2019 21:54

It is believable - in any walk of life there are people who can't cope with marrying into it, whether it's doctors or farmers or sales reps, far less forces.
Knew a guy once who lasted only a few months as a merchant seaman because he missed going out on the lash every weekend with his mates when he was at sea.

Rhubarb01 · 12/02/2019 21:54

Yes, next Thursday is ok - it was only when this ended that I realised it wasn't Friday tomorrow.

eejittwo · 12/02/2019 21:54

Next Thursday's okay for me, barring disasters. Is that the last episode of series 1?
