...or will Kim Joy claim the title? Will Rahul nail it with a bake they DO have in India?

It’s anyone’s to lose.

Janus Absolutely!

SophieofShepherdsBush · 30/10/2018 21:36

Don't jump on me , but I think he's autistic. I say this as the mum an autistic person!

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 21:36

Thanks Halloween Grin these threads are my salvation sometimes!

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 21:36

TBH - had it been "proper' baking he could well have won on merit. As it is, there is a lot of seething resentment at his depressing triumph.

Staringcoat · 30/10/2018 21:37

Any one of the finalists deserved to win imho. I think Rahul triumphed ultimately because his show-stopper was better thought out than the others and his flavours were consistently excellent throughout the series.

I liked some of the innovations this year but they definitely need to give the contestants more time to finish their showstoppers to a higher standard and show off their skills.

Like Noel and Sandy!

Butterymuffin · 30/10/2018 21:39

Anyone else not pissed off at the individual catch ups not happening?!! I love the twinkly music bit at the end and the mini “so and so has done this

Yes, I'mannoyed they didn't get a bit each! It's nice that they're all friendly and meeting up but that doesn't tell you what they're doing now. Disappointing.

It's a shame that the final few weeks have been a bit of a damp squib, as I have enjoyed the whole series a lot and liked all the bakers - even Rahul in spite of him being frustrating.

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 21:39

Right I'm actually going to apply.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 21:39

I like Noel and Sandi Staring, but I don't like Prue and I think Paul is so far pasts "use by" date that he's actually starting to smell.

And he's certainly gone a very funny colour.

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 21:39

Next year please can we have:

Beat Vicky sponge
Best tin-loaf
Proper biscuits (none of that cookie shit)
Pork pie with hot water crust
A sweet tart
Quiche
Wedding cake

Graphista · 30/10/2018 21:39

No I can't believe it either Noel! Totally disagree!

Extremely disappointing final. It may be on ch4 now but it's SUPPOSED to be same production company their head chefs need to be having words! Disappointing series all round actually.

Report card? Must do better!

In comparison to the BBC series? Seriously wanting.

If any mners DO apply and reach the tent you HAVE to indicate it on screen - stunt pineapple? Penis beaker cake might be a BIT much 😂😂

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 21:40

I like the "catch-ups"- I missed them - but Ruby necking wine out of the bottle warmed my heart!

Staringcoat · 30/10/2018 21:42

Agree MrsReacher! Perhaps there was more emphasis on flavour this year? There should be a balance though. Very few bakes this series looked appetising.

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 21:42

There should be 12 catch ups.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 21:42

Oooh, *Gremlins! Please do!

Will you let us know who you are, or just if you win with your Vegan-interfaith-wedding-Masai-blood-and-milk-meringue showstopper?

(well - that's as sensible as anything they've come up with this year)

Almondio · 30/10/2018 21:44

Less Bake Off Showstopper, more Play-Doh Christmas collection; in a store near you now. No one wants to eat blue choux.

Jitters22 · 30/10/2018 21:45

Found the final a huge anti-climax - doughnuts, pitta bread and some weird 'landscape' thing - none of which looked appetising.

Throughout this series there have been some wonderful challenges and some fantastic bakes, but I just don't think anything tonight was that great. Fried dough balls, bread and dips and bits and bobs plonked on a tray - it was just all a bit basic and nothing looked like you'd want to eat it.

Also the editing was horrible - so frantic and rushed and yet there were only three contestants. How did they manage when there were so many more? It never felt this fragmented and hurried. I was going dizzy watching it.

I felt all along the trophy had Rahul's name on it and wasn't really surprised at the outcome, but to be honest I don't think any of them did that great today.

An enjoyable series but the final was a let down.

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 21:46

I'll say I'm doing this for Mumsnet Grin

ChessieFL · 30/10/2018 21:47

Terry wasn’t at the garden party. Wonder why?

Loopytiles · 30/10/2018 21:47

The showstoppers all looked like bad Star Trek sets! Special effects gone wrong.

Grin at PP volunteering to judge- “I will treat weird colours with as much warmth as Mary Berry shows to shop bought fondant”.

Noel’s stressed faces nearing the end of the showstoppers were the highlight.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 21:47

Agree with Werewolf's weekly themes.

Also Staring - flavour counts for nowt if something looks so repellent you wouldn't want to taste it!

And I'm very taken with Graphista's "secret signals" - stunt pineapple, obviously - perhaps some Sylvanian families, a glue stick, a picture of Vlad Putin on a cup, a Mexican house keys "Fanny Gallops" tee shirt - we're an inventive lot! There must be more ideas out there.

VanillaSugary · 30/10/2018 21:47

I feel massively let down. And a bit sad. The pita bread technical was a bloody farce.

Loopytiles · 30/10/2018 21:49

The pita technical would’ve been fun much earlier on. Not fair at this stage.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 21:49

We'll all be shouting "That's our Gremlins" at the screen.

The nation will go wild!

VanillaSugary · 30/10/2018 21:50

Kim Joy has announced on Instagram that she's got an agent.

woodhill · 30/10/2018 21:50

Rahul's rock garden looked like mouldy new potatoes and mushy peas. Revolting
