...or will Kim Joy claim the title? Will Rahul nail it with a bake they DO have in India?

It’s anyone’s to lose.

I'll throw in sarky comments about blue pastry Wink

awaynboilyurheid · 30/10/2018 21:51

Yay ! So pleased Rahul won, hope it gives him much needed confidence didn’t think much of any of the look of any of the final showstoppers thought the colours were all a bit off putting maybe they had too much to do in the end.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 21:51

Well, I feel the need for a Gin lie down. I'll be back.

theredjellybean · 30/10/2018 21:51

Bloody hell...
What god awful show stopper
And such a fix.. Kim joy has been consistentky better last two weeks and her show stopper had beautiful coloured caramal sea creatures ffs.. Not mentioned. Rahul had burnt choux buns and got praised for height she had standing up ginger Atlantic ruins and told not enough height.
She won the technical and had best donuts.
It has been a fix since day 1
Id not bother buying or watching a book or show by Rahul but a book of Kim joys designs I'd buy.
So pissed off.. So much in fact I have submitted my application for next year

Inspired idea about stunt pineapple Graphista! Grin

Can I added a lovely glazed plaited loaf to your wish list Werewolfcub?

I quite like Prue but couldnt agree more about Paul and his colour Schaudenfraude.

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 21:57

Schaden yes a glazed platted loaf sounds good. Also some sort of gateau

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 21:57

I clearly can’t spell plaited this evening

FawnDrench · 30/10/2018 21:58

The guests and family supporters thing at the end- looked like the bloody Mardi Gras - what the hell's happened including all those bloody acrobats and swinging burlesque-type wimmin fgs.

Have a bit of bloody RESTRAINT can't you channel 4.

Totally ott and ridiculous - turned the whole thing into a farce.
It used to be a lovely sincere and warm celebration but it's gone completely bonkers just like the whole damn series.

Utter shite.

PippaParty · 30/10/2018 21:59

Disappointing show. Contrived and fake. Too much emotion and staged stress. Not a patch on previous series with wedding cake show stoppers and some really skilled bakers.

Why do C4 do this to shows, eventually unbelievable viewing all in the name of keeping us interested. 'Big Brother' started with a group of ordinary people and ended with cross dressing transvestite; 'Don't tell the Bride' started as ordinary weddings and ended up with weddings on roller-coasters, staged kidnappings and a circus. Looks like Bake-Off is heading the same way.

Rubbish sadly.

jay55 · 30/10/2018 22:11

It was horrid, especially all the crap heaped on Kim Joy in the showstopper to make it sound like hers was shit compared to Rahul when it clearly wasn't.

wowfudge · 30/10/2018 22:12

I've just caught up with this thread after catching up with the final. I wanted Ruby to win, but from the comments Paul made, it was between KJ and Rahul. Maybe the editing wasn't there this time, but it didn't feel to me as though Rahul was a worthy winner. And blue food is not appetising!

SubtitlesOn · 30/10/2018 22:23

I liked Rahul cacti icing thingys

HildaZelda · 30/10/2018 22:25

I though KJ came across as really smug tonight. She definitely though it was going to be her.
I hope Terry is okay? I didn't see him at the final with everyone else.

Staringcoat · 30/10/2018 22:28

I liked Rahul's icing cacti thingys

How did he make them stand up so straight do you think? As the actress said to the bishop.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 22:31

It used to be a lovely sincere and warm celebration but it's gone completely bonkers just like the whole damn series

It's heartbreaking Fawn.

WereWolfcub · 30/10/2018 22:31

From the end section it looked like Terry had been spending time with Briony’s family

Graphista · 30/10/2018 22:32

Grems you'd have our full support.

Mexican house keys is a GENIUS idea!!

I have no right to judge really as I'm a very basic baker and can't even get scones right! Certainly can't do the decorating - but I'm an excellent armchair critic 😂😂

Cake tine? Was that me?

If they're gonna do a hand raised hot water pastry I vote for macaroni cheese pie - they've done pork pies in several series now. Or at least scotch pie though as a veggie I prefer the Mac cheese.

SOOO many BRITISH bakes they could be doing rather than doing European bakes. And they always do patisserie anyway so I think rest should be British. They RARELY do non-English bakes unless a non-English contestant manages to squeeze in a N Irish/Welsh/scots bake because they're from there.

It's great BRITISH BAKE off - more emphasis on the BRITISH and BAKE please.

As a Scot I'd love to see dundee cake (NOT easy to get right), black bun, Abernethy biscuits etc.

PippaParty ( you MUST be ages with me with that username) - I agree ch4 need to learn "if it ain't broke don't fix it!"

Riversleep · 30/10/2018 22:33

Those showstoppers all looked horrid and none of the challenges were as difficult as some they had in earlier rounds. Rahul was v lucky to be there in the first place. I'm surprised he won. I expected it to be Kim Joy.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 30/10/2018 22:36

Graphista - you and others have offered suggestions for challenges that PROVE we don't need stupid stressful challenges that often produce collapsed, inedible plates of heartbreak.

Back to REAL BRITISH baking (with the occasional challenge from other lands) - it would be wonderful!

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 22:39

I'll ask Noel if he's on glue Grin

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 22:42

When Sandi asks how I'm doing - "Screaming inside as if I'm in the Sistine Chapel"

Clawdy · 30/10/2018 22:46

To Paul - "Did you mean to be so rude?"

SneakyGremlins · 30/10/2018 22:50

I always bake in a dressing gown at home, that's how you'll know it's me - I'll wear it in the tent!

MnerXX · 30/10/2018 22:51

I liked the afternoon tea platter thing they did at the end of the first series I think? It seemed a fitting end, bringing together all the skills with the savoury stuff as well and perfect for the occasion with the peeps outside.

Total anticlimax this yr as everyone has said already. Both judges unnecessarily rude, not enough time for the showstoppers to be showstoppers... any of them could have won it but who would have wanted to eat any of it? It all looked odd and not visual enough for telly (unless you like blue, sprayed food)
