(Did it really have a mermaid in it?)

OP posts:
FekkoThePenguin · 08/11/2018 19:40

For swearing? 🙄

NopeNi · 08/11/2018 19:41

Just to say, I saw datun's deleted message and it was a tirade against people who misuse disabled bathrooms. I think any decent person would agree.

I don't see why it was deleted, and am writing this purely so that anyone else reading doesn't think she said something abusive.

I expect someone we all know now is reporting every comment.

BeyondVicious · 08/11/2018 19:42

I go away to paint my nails like a nice lady, and... wtf happened to the thread Shock Pope Datun got deleted?!

PerverseConverse · 08/11/2018 19:44

Datun failed to be ladylike and had to be deleted. That's unfortunately encouraged me to swear too in a most unladylike fashion for which I'm sure I'll be punished. I really don't like the word cunt. It makes me unsettled somehow. But sometimes it's completely necessary to use it and we shouldn't police language here.

FekkoThePenguin · 08/11/2018 19:45

I read the post too and didnt think it was delete-worthy. Has she said why they deleted it?

I got deleted for stating a Fact that (us trained as) therapists know (and are taught) as a Fact.

Funny round here sometimes, isn't it?

Datun · 08/11/2018 19:46

Oh dear. It's not because I said cunt. That is mumsnet's USP. We are all grown-ups, we are political, and we can talk. Without that they're Netmums.

Okay, let me be more explicit, but remain within guidelines (even though I don't understand which ones I violated).

I, personally, ie it's 'personal opinion' maintain that if your disability is that of gender nonconformity, you shouldn't use the disabled toilets.

And I would like someone to confirm that being trans is a disability. That would be swell.

It's my 'personal opinion', (that is an official phrase), that doing so puts you in the wrong.

PerverseConverse · 08/11/2018 19:47

Chris @FekkoThePenguin, you can't go round stating FACTS!! facts upset people.

BeyondVicious · 08/11/2018 19:47

Facts are mean, fekko - you should only post glitter and rainbows.

FekkoThePenguin · 08/11/2018 19:47

That's in the same ballpark as my deletion - high 5!✋

PerverseConverse · 08/11/2018 19:47

Christ not Chris ffs

BeyondVicious · 08/11/2018 19:48

if your disability is that of gender nonconformity

Hmm... yep. No comment.

BeyondVicious · 08/11/2018 19:49

🤐

FekkoThePenguin · 08/11/2018 19:50

I know I'm thoroughly ashamed. I'm hanging my head.

Grass is pink
Sky is cheese
Unicorns are real
The sun revolves around the earth, which is flat
The yeti and Nessie are real
Cats lay eggs
Dogs can talk
Santa is real
Errrrr....

FekkoThePenguin · 08/11/2018 19:51

Aw fuckit. I'm going to have to sit on my hands.

BeyondVicious · 08/11/2018 19:51

Self IDing fucking disability though will make my next PIP review a piece of piss. Can't see a single downside through my blinkers

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 08/11/2018 19:52

I was deleted too, but I'm still trying to work out why. Apparently it's objectionable to express disparaging opinions about potential misuse of disabled toilets.

FekkoThePenguin · 08/11/2018 19:55

There are some people who pretend to be disabled - even arrange amputations. I remember reading about one person who deliberately had an accident to have their legs amputated. I kid you not, there are some people in desperate need of help out there.

And by 'help' I mean psychiatric, not stroked with fluffy gloves and ostrich feathers whilst being played the soothing tones of the lute.

Datun · 08/11/2018 19:55

And that is probably a good topic. Is being trans a disability?

@Janekent3 is it?

Or is it only gender dysphoria that is a disability? In which case what is trans? Is it a fetish? Gender noncormformity? What is it?

If you don't have to have gender dysphoria to be trans, then how can you decide who uses the disabled toilet? Do we separate gender dysphoric men, from transwomen? How do we do that?

Questions, questions.

Any answers? And by answers I mean actual answers.

Datun · 08/11/2018 19:58

Self IDing fucking disability though will make my next PIP review a piece of piss.

And there you have it. It's being trans, or gender dysphoria self IDing into disability? Or is it officially a disability?

Let's fucking have it.

Mxyzptlk · 08/11/2018 19:58

Here's a question about actual Butterfly - Does anyone know what the relevance of the anorexic girl was supposed to be?

To me, anorexia seems very similar to gender dysphoria but I guess the programme makers want us to think they are very different.
Only the programme didn't give us any reason to think they are different.

But if I missed something, please let me know.

Datun · 08/11/2018 20:07

But if I missed something, please let me know.

I don't think you did. I don't think anyone else get that either.

Is gender dysphoria a disability? Is being trans a disability? Is having a fetish a disability? It's being a transvestite a disability?

jane? Is there even the remotest, barely perceptible possibility that you could clear this up for us?

TalkingintheDark · 08/11/2018 20:30

There’s something that’s been bothering me about one of janekent’s posts.

I’m pretty sure you said upthread janekent that you wished you could have had medical treatment as a child, that you would have totally gone for it and it would have been the best possible thing for you.

So you would have been infertile. Your three beautiful children who have brought you such happiness (I think you said that too) would never have been born.

You seem to be saying that in your ideal world, your children would never have existed.

I’m really struggling with that. Do your children know you feel like that? How do you think it would feel for them to know that one of their parents would choose to erase them from existence if it were possible?

I just don’t understand how a loving parent can crave a world, a life where their children never existed at all?

Datun · 08/11/2018 20:37

You seem to be saying that in your ideal world, your children would never have existed.

It's weighing up 'passing', with having children.

But.

Only after you've had them.

Italiangreyhound · 08/11/2018 21:03

I really wish we could get away from disability across toilets. As far as I can tell anyone can use them so what people feel about whomever uses them is not necessarily relevant here.

Italiangreyhound · 08/11/2018 21:05

I would like to ask, anyone who knows whether gender dysphoria is clasaed as a mental health issue/illness and/or a disability or not - but without any reference to disability access toilets, please.
