But they always claim that it is performance ON THE DAY that is the decider.

We have had very good bakers in the past who have had a pig of a day and been evicted. I think they didn't want an "all girls" final and so are keeping him in (maybe even grooming him for stardom/win.

I don't like him. I would like

  1. Kim-Joy
  2. Briony
  3. Ruby . . . . . .4) Rahul

I admit that my dislike colours my opinion.

LimpyLampy · 18/10/2018 22:59

Rahul should not have gone.

Is Paul the 'head judge' in this series? Why are they all desperate for a 'handshake'. I understand the producers want to make it a 'thing' but why not Prue's handshake? I really can't stand Paul. Can you tell! Mary was better with him as she kept him in his box a bit more!

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2018 08:46

They've had all girls finals before haven't they? if I remember correctly they've only had one male winner in the whole series. I may be wrong though!

I don't DISLIKE Rhahul, he was sweet with Manon when they were in the sitting down line at the end.

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2018 08:47

Limpy Rahul didn't go Grin

HugoBearsMummy · 19/10/2018 11:21

Anyone else think losing Mannon was a mistake. Rahul was without shadow of a doubt the worst of this week's bakers. He's done well so far but I thought it was unfair for Mannon to go when his offerings were dire!

HugoBearsMummy · 19/10/2018 11:29

I think Kim Joy is an excellent baker but her really weird facial expressions and strange noises she makes get on my nerves!

ThanksItHasPockets · 19/10/2018 11:46

There have been two male winners: Edd Kimber and John Whaite.

I’ve just checked, and there have only been two all-female finals to date. Season 2 with Joanne, Holly, and Mary-Anne, and Season 4 with Frances, Kimberley, and Ruby. I remember there being some criticism around the latter, but IIRC it was due to Paul’s perceived favouritism of Ruby.

I think it’s fair enough if Rahul’s excellent track record saved him this time but I wish they had been more transparent about it. They attempt to create suspense by emphasising that anyone can go on a bad week (it was their justification for eliminating Liam last year) but that patently wasn’t the case here. By their own rule, serving something inedible in the quarter-final should send a baker home.

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2018 12:47

Thanks Pockets Ruby didn't win though and there's always criticisim isn't there?

glamorousgrandmother · 19/10/2018 13:54

Paul’s perceived favouritism of Ruby. He would have been barking up the wrong tree as it turns out.

LimpyLampy · 19/10/2018 15:33

Sorry I meant should have gone.

Ioki · 19/10/2018 20:00

Has anyone else heard? Ruby was tricked into revealing the winner of GBBO to a fake account on twitter! Shock

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 19/10/2018 20:48

loki

What?

How???

Justmuddlingalong · 19/10/2018 20:55

Pleeeeaaase, no spoilers! 🙉

southeastdweller · 19/10/2018 20:57

loki Even saying that person told someone who the winner is is a spoiler.

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 19/10/2018 21:00

Apologies - I don't want to know who won, but I can't see how anyone could be "tricked" like this.

Surely she shouldn't even whisper this information into the shell-like ear of her beloved in post-coital intimacy . . .

ThanksItHasPockets · 19/10/2018 21:03

Someone apparently set up an account pretending to be Sandi and tricked Ruby into a conversation over DM.

southeastdweller · 19/10/2018 21:10

Anyone familiar with the ‘process of elimination’ concept? Confused

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 19/10/2018 21:59

Pockets

Aaaaah!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 19/10/2018 22:10

Ooh, don’t google whatever you do, there are umpteen hits about this. None of them, fortunately, revealing the winner, at least in the headline text.

I bet Prue feels better now!

PollyFlinderz · 20/10/2018 02:46

The person who set the fake Sandi account up has said he won’t be revealing the winner because it would spoil the series for people.

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2018 08:37

Schade pockets and I were discussing Paul's penchant (or otherwise) for the droopy Ruby of a couple of series ago. REALLY Blush

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2018 08:40

To change the subject, Extra Slice was good last night, Manon was VERY nervous though. Tom Allen is a bit of shxx. he was trying to be funny about her Frenchness ,or not, and he was failing miserably. But I like Wossy

SchadenfreudeUndeadified · 20/10/2018 09:16

ppeat - I'll have a look on catch-up - I don't usually watch extra slice.

And I thought from episode ONE that Paul was going to perv all over Ruby like an over-sexed chihuahua on a vicar's leg

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2018 09:27

Halloween Grin Halloween Grin Manon is\was also beautiful, he's been spoilt for choice in this ep. The randy so and so. ( I LOVE your description of him) !!!!!

WereWolfcub · 21/10/2018 19:26

Just rewatched Tuesday’s episode. Paul really was a complete arse
