l was out this morning ( can't 'watch anyway ), loved reading your comments. Grin.
I'm glad Delpo is through, I also wonder what is happening with Cilic. Sock has definitely proved that doubles is more his thing at the moment than singles.

I hope Juan' s knee isn't serious.

He just seemed to jar it after a serve Raahh but he seemed ok I thought.

I've just got half an eye on Baghdatis v Chickenato Grin very even and into a third set.

I think Zverev plays next unless he's been and gone and I've missed him...

Raahh · 03/10/2018 09:00

was catching up with scores earlier, and noticed Dimitrov has once again fallen early. He really has had a disappointing year. No title defence in London for him.

Raahh I just logged on to post about Grigor! I saw the last set - he served loads of double faults, made loads of errors Confused so disappointing!! He should be winning big titles with his talent. Ridiculous he won't even be in London.

Raahh · 03/10/2018 09:27

He will be very disappointed, he just hasn't played that well for most of the year.

OP posts:
PrivateParkin · 03/10/2018 11:27

He hasn't, it's such a shame.

I'm just watching Lopez - bit of an up and down match with a few breaks each way. Always nice to see Feli though Grin

Raahh · 03/10/2018 12:52

I have just checked in on the scores, looks like things have gone a bit pear shaped in the second set for Stan in Tokyo against Shaggy.

Vamos Delpo!

Raahh · 03/10/2018 13:47

Stan is out, that's a shame.

But Delpo is through! hurrah!

What channel are you all watching the men on .... or is this still Amazon Prime?

Have been trying to work out if Fabio has a chance of making it to London. I doubt he'll overhaul any of the higher players ... but some are or will be out injured. He needs three to fall ...

JaneJeffer · 03/10/2018 17:48

Tokyo is on Action
Beijing is on Arena
Starts at 9 I think

JaneJeffer · 03/10/2018 17:51

I've only watched bits and pieces because I keep wandering off and doing bits and pieces in my usual ADD way! I haven't been sleeping great so my attention span is very bad at the moment.

JaneJeffer · 03/10/2018 17:52

I don't know what's with all the bits and pieces in that post Blush gah

PrivateParkin · 03/10/2018 18:30

Jane my entire day was made up of bits and pieces, as per usual. My old boss used to call it "butterflying" - hopping from one thing to another. I do it all the time, it's v frustrating!

Anyway. I think Fabio is in with a chance of London albeit reliant on some withdrawals. I see Goffin has shut down his season with an elbow injury - I know he was behind Fabio in the race anyway. Hope he's on the mend for next season.

So chuffed for Delpo. I haven't watched all of his match yet (recorded it to watch later Blush). I just saw the very start - noticed he'd stuck with the rust-coloured shorts and pink t-shirt combo. I can't decide if I like it or not.

Fizzywinegum · 03/10/2018 18:46

Not managed to watch any tennis today. I’m not very up to speed with the race to London - it’s a shame that so many players seem to be injured/knackered by the time it comes around.

I watched the “Battle of the Sexes” film over the weekend about the billie jean king/bobby Riggs match. It was quite entertaining but also shocking in the way that women players were treated. It was also quite shocking that the women’s tour was sponsored by Virginia slims cigarettes although I do remember the Virginia slims women’s tournaments. It all seemed like a very bygone era which I guess it was (thankfully!)

The Margaret court character was shown to be quite homophobic which I guess has not changed over the years. It’s on sky movies if anyone’s interested.

JaneJeffer · 03/10/2018 18:47

I love that Private. I'm just channeling my inner Cabbage White. Next time DH enquires why I never finish one thing before I start something else I'm going to tell him I'm butterflying Grin

JaneJeffer · 03/10/2018 18:52

That film sounds good Fizzy. I never got to the cinema when it was out. Will have to wait until one of the terrestrial channels show it. I don't have any time for Margaret Court's bullshit.

Fizzywinegum · 03/10/2018 19:20

I meant to see it at the cinema as well Jane - agree re Margaret Court.

PrivateParkin · 03/10/2018 19:52

Yes definitely Jane! It puts quite a nice spin on it imho - faffing aka butterflying Grin

Thanks for the tip about the film Fizzy - I haven't seen it either and am keen to. We have got sky cinema so I will have to tune in. It sounds really interesting. I heard BJK on Desert Island Discs a few weeks ago (apols if repeating myself as I think I might have mentioned it at the time...) and she talked about what the women's tour was like etc. It does seem a bit like another world - but I remember Virginia Slims sponsoring WTA too!! Shock

PrivateParkin · 03/10/2018 19:59

Fizzy yes there are always so many injuries by the time of the world tour finals aren't there - remember that year when loads of the matches were complete whitewashes because all the guys who'd fought to make it were basically knackered by the time they got there?! (I think it was the year Murray lost to Fed 6-0 6-1 or whatever it was - but then he came back to play an exhibition match when - was it Fed? - withdrew from the final with injury).

There are just too many tournaments overall and they need a big boss of tennis to come along and sort them all out! Stop this Davis Cup nonsense, improve the Fed Cup etc.

I read that there is another idea (also from Gerard Pique's company) for a winner takes all tournament with a £7.5m prize!! Madness.

JaneJeffer · 03/10/2018 20:02

Shakira's husband? Rafa will definitely be involved in that!

PrivateParkin · 03/10/2018 20:06

Hey I forgot he was married to Shakira! The plot thickens Grin

Fizzywinegum · 03/10/2018 20:43

Yes Private I always feel that the World Tour Finals never live up to expectations - I remember the one where Murray played a bit of an exhibition match - it was a bit embarrassing all round.

I also went one year and was sat next to some crazy Davidenko (remember him?) fans - I think he beat Roger and the davidenko fans got cross with me for cheering on Roger! The seats are also very steep which gave me vertigo so not great memories for me Grin

I agree that there is way too much tennis already for the players - I am also very suspicious of anything involving shakira (especially where Rafa is concerned!)

JaneJeffer · 03/10/2018 21:58

I am also very suspicious of anything involving shakira Grin hips don't lie

Raahh · 04/10/2018 08:25
Grin shhhhh.... don't mention hips! I do feel sorry for Goffin. He has been really hampered with injuries over the last year or so.
