What's this "Killing Eve"? When is it on and what channel?

hackmum · 28/08/2018 10:17

placemats - yes, and Mercurio alludes to that in the Radio Times article. I agree about the sex scenes being slightly awkward. It makes a refreshing change from the usual type of sex scene. And she is obviously more interested in him than he is in her. I think he has an ulterior motive.

placemats · 28/08/2018 10:22

Killing Eve will be available to binge watch from September on BBC iplayer. Love Sandra Oh and I will be binge watching!

Interesting hackmum I'm not sure what his ulterior motive will be. It's all very cards close to the chest at the moment. Surely though someone will discover the connection between him and the lone wolf shooter, if that hasn't already been made...

Whatfrenchplacename · 28/08/2018 12:06

Why did she pull out of the dinner date at the restaurant? Was it 'the end of the affair'?

Can you get bullet proof glass?

TooTrueToBeGood · 28/08/2018 12:13

Re the sexual aspect taking a slating, my gut feel is that it will be critical to the plot that he forms a deep emotional relationship with her. He started off having a real grudge against her and we've got a taste of there being a plot against her from within govt and the police and them trying to rope him into the conspiracy. Having him fall for her sets it up for him to be conflicted as to where his real values and loyalties lie. I think he'll end up playing the double agent to bring down the conspirators, but we might not be sure what the hell's going on until the last minute.

Dulra · 28/08/2018 12:22

And she is obviously more interested in him than he is in her. I think he has an ulterior motive Totally agree. Me and dh outwardly groaned when they started shagging but I do think now it is going to be key to the plot and not just thrown in there. I think he has a very weird relationship with her from what we are shown it is like he hates her but has to protect her and having sex with her may be part of all that.

raisedbyguineapigs · 28/08/2018 12:27

You can get bulletproof glass I thought. I thought the Pope mobile is covered in it and they had bulletproof glass come up during the Presidential inauguration. AA Gill was the father of Amber Rudd children, so I'd imagine she's more interesting than she looks!

namechangedcausebored · 28/08/2018 12:47

Can I just ask how much shagging is visible in last night’s episode? My 13 year old started watching the first episode with me and enjoyed it - is it right at the start too?

Elderflower14 · 28/08/2018 12:53

Just watched last night's episode. I didn't half jump when the bullets first hit the car....

Elderflower14 · 28/08/2018 12:54

Quite obvious shagging right near the end of last night. The first shag wasn't so obvious....

mrsoutnumbered · 28/08/2018 13:03

I'm just watching the second episode now. Might have to give up - nowhere near as fast paced as LoD. It hasn't got me hooked yet!

hackmum · 28/08/2018 13:16

Elderflower14: "I didn't half jump when the bullets first hit the car...."

Me too! It doesn't take a lot to make me jump out of my skin, in fairness, but that was a great moment - so unexpected. It may never top "Emergency Exit required" in LoD 3, but then what will?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/08/2018 13:30

Why did they decide he wasn’t a security risk after all, about three days later?

The police didn't - the Home Secretary insisted that he was reinstated as her PPO. I guess she has the power to override the initial decision!

Would someone with PTSD really have been able to display that degree of calm courage when confronted with a suicide bomber on a train? Or when in a car being fired at by a sniper? Come off it.

We do see flashes of his fear and panic at key moments - on the train, and in the lift going up to deal with the security issue in the Home Office (before he realised that it was just to escort the PA from the building). It seems to me that they are presenting it in a way that because he is ex-military and now police, he can use his training and his adrenaline to control his actions and reactions when he's "on duty"; it's only afterwards that the reaction sets in.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/08/2018 13:32

Does anyone else think that there is more to why he and his ex-wife broke up than we are being told? She seems very wary around him.

Gersemi · 28/08/2018 13:34

Namechanged, there were no naked bottoms bobbing around, but a certain amount of pretty obvious thrusting.

Gersemi · 28/08/2018 13:39

Why did she pull out of the dinner date at the restaurant? Was it 'the end of the affair'?

I had the impression that creepy sidekick hoped it was the beginning of the affair. I got distracted slightly at that point, but hadn't he led her to believe more people were coming only to reveal that he really wanted diner a deux.

EuphoricNight · 28/08/2018 13:58

I don't mind a subtle sex scene but she's so frumpy looking it was just plain weird. Bit like when a tipsy auntie starts dancing with the youngsters at a wedding night do.

CoolCarrie · 28/08/2018 14:08

Killing Eve is like Nikita, Russian orphan trained a assassin, pursued by female agent. Based on book Code name Villania (sp?)

covetingthepreciousthings · 28/08/2018 14:12

@namechangedcausebored the first sex scene is about 25 mins towards the end, you don't see much. The next is at the end and a bit less subtle.
I'd be wary about letting a 13 year old watch the program, with the other content tbh - don't want to spoil it for you, but there's more bloodshed than the first episode.

wowfudge · 28/08/2018 14:17

My thinking is that he is being used and if the powers that be find out about his mental health issues they'll put the blame on him for whatever happens. I suspect he'll start to realise what's going on.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 28/08/2018 15:09

I am glad they've already shagged. Now, we won't get the interminable will they/won't they suspense when we all know they will anyway.

BagelGoesWalking · 28/08/2018 15:21

Killing Eve will be on BBC - don't know if 1 or 2. It was a huge hit in the US and Sandra Oh won an Emmy, I think. It looks great.

Some episodes were directed by Jon East, who also did some of The Last Kingdom (Netflix), another great show.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 28/08/2018 15:26

As a slight aside - Amber Rudd has been in an on/off relationship for quite a while with a fellow MP a good 10 or so years younger than her.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 28/08/2018 15:29

Also had to check on IMDB. The actress who plays SlashDave's wife was Ida Shelby in Peaky Blinders.

LadyKyliePonsonbyFarquhar · 28/08/2018 15:31

Sorry it was Ada not Ida.
