VanGoghsDog - I didn't recognise the acting home sec, what's the actors name? IMDb not helping.

I think the blank bullets were intended to make David look incompetent, not to prevent him committing suicide (they'd remove the bullets or gun altogether or even get him sectioned), nor to stop him killing someone else (again just remove gun altogether).

"channels Michael Caine) You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!?" 😂😂. It wasn't a very big explosion actually, more flash than bang. Which as I write, also means not terrorists - they don't care how many they injure/kill. If Muslim extremists they generally believe we're all infidels anyway.

MeltedIcicle - the mere fact rob thinks there's even a POSSIBILITY of bomb making materials even trace elements could be found related to him says it all! That and the lying through his teeth!

"I sobbed when Dave/David hugged his kids. I actually sobbed" what kept going through my mind was "you're their dad. You'll always be their dad" also a fact that has at times stopped me being an arse - children of parents who die by suicide are more likely to attempt or commit suicide themselves.

"Also when Nadia was being interviewed and they laid out photos of suspects; it looked like she was loooking at the photos ofTahir..." Yes but his face was all over news reports as one of the victims - one of the reasons eye witness identification is notoriously unreliable.

I also thought Slash looked like he might have been shot by someone else.

I have been screenshotting like Jayne and have uncovered the Mystery of the Missing Microphone.

First we have a shot of Tahir on the CCTV to the side, Julia has two microphones in front of her.

Then we have Slash and Kim running towards the stage, only one microphone.

Bomb going off, Kim definitely not at the centre of it.

And here is the moment just as the bomb detonates, Tahir nowhere in sight. (Nor that other microphone).

I thought that Dave’s eyeline and facial expressions were cuing Nadia to pick Tahir. Thank heavens that they didn’t.

It would be narratively neat if the “Asian” man from the carpark turned out to be Deepak, who is presumably Hindu not Muslim, but I don’t want that to be true because I like him, and think he’s competent, and let’s face it he’s totally right that Dave is telling them a whole bunch of porkies.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 09/09/2018 23:22

Dave could be in up to his neck. I have to keep reminding myself of that.

beanaseireann · 09/09/2018 23:22

What was on the key ring found in Vicky's handbag. Was it D's keys ?
Or was he putting the key into her handbag ?
Did they find his listening device ?

DoryNow · 09/09/2018 23:25

"Unless... Vicky is seeing a woman. Or/and another police officer. She asked about who the other police officer was who was involved."

Hmmm I was thinking this, Vicky exchanged quite a long look with the DS when she dropped Dave off back at the safe house.

StripySocksAndDocs · 09/09/2018 23:25

Why did Nadia have an appropriately adult?

We've not seen New Bloke, nor man from peace meeting that was driving Chanel.

Though it seems unlikely she have a new man so similar to Dave?

HannahnotAgnes · 09/09/2018 23:29

Why didn't they ask him what triggered him & Kim to run? They were both running towards the stage prior to the bomb going off, so strange the police didn't ask why!

Gersemi · 09/09/2018 23:29

Why would Dave admit to having tried to shoot himself if he hadn't? He didn't know Vicky was going to go round, he did his best to hide what he'd done to the police, and he made quite an issue about his gun having been tampered with.

Gersemi · 09/09/2018 23:30

I think Julia is dead. As we've noted, Mercurio has a track record for killing off major characters, and it would be a bit much for him to have led the audience to believe both leading characters had been killed only for both of them to come back to life.

DoryNow · 09/09/2018 23:33

Nadia is probably under 18 & as English not her first language sso I guess a naive speaker would help.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 09/09/2018 23:37

Could the boyfriend be the other officer, is it Tom?
He seemed ready to drop Budd in it when questioned.

Graphista · 09/09/2018 23:42

Yea I'm thinking nadia under 18 or otherwise vulnerable. Best they err on side of caution to keep her interviews admissible.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 09/09/2018 23:43

Mean to add, notice Tom says he was looking towards Budd for a steer on what was going on but never says he was running towards the stage. He says he was ‘a bit in the dark on that’. If he was looking the running would have been obvious surely.

placemats · 09/09/2018 23:50

I know that the plot line(s) drift in and out of the realm of incredulity, but Julia is DEAD. She will be back via flashbacks.

Tahir is definitely a patsy for the real culprits. I personally don't trust a person who wears a crew neck jumper over a shirt and tie. Acting home secretary, I'm looking at you!

I want to know what is on the data stick.

I'm beginning to think SlashDave is a little scared because he knows that it's not someone who has gone rogue, but carefully orchestrated and planned.

Time for him to stop messing about and get the Death Star in.

Middleoftheroad · 10/09/2018 00:05

I suspect Julia's ex husband, who was threatened by her bid for leadership.

He's in it, alongside the head honcho copper and the acting home sec.

VanGoghsDog · 10/09/2018 00:07

@Graphista

Acting home sec, been in loads of things, usually comedy though: www.imdb.com/name/nm0291569/

VanGoghsDog · 10/09/2018 00:10

""Also when Nadia was being interviewed and they laid out photos of suspects; it looked like she was loooking at the photos ofTahir..." Yes but his face was all over news reports as one of the victims - one of the reasons eye witness identification is notoriously unreliable."

Nadia would not have seen any news, she's been in police custody.

Yellowsunredroses · 10/09/2018 00:30

The USB stuck/computer had details of an alleged sexual assault didn’t it?
I think she took it to the pm intending to black mail him (assuming it related to him). I’m also guessing the sacked pc was having an affair with pm too as she had a swanky car to get into and said she had better things going on.
Def new man will be someone related -rob?

Graphista · 10/09/2018 00:37

Thanks - he seems to appear in things that aren't to my taste humour wise. Other appearances mainly one off guest appearances in better known programmes like the bill or other programmes I don't watch like holby city. That's why I don't know him.

"Nadia would not have seen any news, she's been in police custody." She wouldn't have been in police custody for weeks! There's plenty telly in prison. Certainly news.

Wingedharpy · 10/09/2018 01:03

Acting Home Secretary reminds me of Donald Pleasance - so he must be a baddie.

PollyFlinderz · 10/09/2018 01:05

Since the last episode Ive been in two minds about watching anymore episodes because Im not really understanding much of whats going on plot wise apart from the like of the suicide bombers. But there's also the fact its all quite horrible and the kind of thing you watch with your hands over your eyes so you can't quite see it. Grin

I decided to have a look in here before perhaps watching it on BBC Iplayer but to be honest nothing said has made me want to go back to it even though I know my daughter will phone me today to say mum, what did you think of it.

Something has turned me right off watching the Bodyguard and I don't actually know what it is because I really like it.

TheClitterati · 10/09/2018 01:27

When did London become so Scandinavian - all these dark grey/black/dark green interiors?

Enjoying this - it's very old school to be watching a series with a weeks gap between each episode.

truebluebaby · 10/09/2018 06:41

All I know is he played the training guy in The Office so whenever I see him I get "free Love freeway" in my head.
