What was the point of the CCTV footage at the end? Did it show something new?? My poor brain!

wowfudge · 09/09/2018 22:06

The plot definitely thickens. So is Ann Samson in on it then do we think?

Hepzibar · 09/09/2018 22:07

All hopes on Deepak and Budd. Louise - either rabbit in headlights or she's been got at.

VanGoghsDog · 09/09/2018 22:08

Not much happened at the end - of the two police, the guy thinks Budd is up to something, the woman thinks he's not and will go rogue and help him find the truth.

The truth being that the acting Home Sec (who is a majorly famous actor so was bound to have a bigger part - think I said earlier that was a small part for him) has teamed up with either the police (more likely) or the SS to off Julia so that he gets the job, she does not become PM and the police get their full remit back without SS interference.

Who changed the bullets......well, maybe he did in a fugue state? Maybe his subconscious self did not want to die? Who else would want him not to die? Someone setting him up - so, the police chief then. Except they all seem very intent on setting up Tahir and if they didn't want him to die, why not just remove the gun completely, or the bullets, as he could have checked the bullets and swapped them back.

The policewoman was only bewildered not to find anything in the panelling because it looked like it had been designed to hide something so was therefore odd there was nothing there. Not because she somehow knew it would be there.

Urbanbeetler · 09/09/2018 22:10

It looked like Budd have a tiny nod to someone out of sight of the cctv after letting Tahir go forward with the briefcase.

But I can’t believe Budd is the baddy. I can’t!

KittyOSullivanKrauss · 09/09/2018 22:10

After feeling a bit lukewarm about it after episodes 1 & 2 I'm now definitely sucked in.

I was wondering last week if Mike Travis was a bit dodgy. He initially looked avuncular and harmless. Clearly he's far from it.

I'm enjoying the way that peripheral characters from the first few episodes are now coming to the fore.

I wonder whether David was deliberately assigned to Julia with the idea that they may end up having an affair?

I am also wondering what David will do with the information he has on the PM. He's now the only one outside the Security Services who knows. Could he bring down the government and will Charlotte Foxfield turn up next week?

Urbanbeetler · 09/09/2018 22:10

Have= gave

buttybuttybutthole · 09/09/2018 22:14

The point of the cctv footage was David looking directly at the security camera!

myrtleWilson · 09/09/2018 22:14

But where is Chanel???

I thought the now acting HS was more inclined to the Police - but is that because he is covering something up or is it a double bluff?

My brain is hurting (but less so than David/slash/Dave with his blank bullet point blank range bullet injury)

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/09/2018 22:15

HS got herself killed - unintentionally - fundraiser intent, terror created in order to get support for the bill she was trying to push through, plan went wrong. She was only supposed to be injured
(channels Michael Caine) You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!?

Clawdy · 09/09/2018 22:15

Some of tonight's episode was really confusing. And, like others, I feel Julia isn't dead.

BackFrontSide · 09/09/2018 22:16

I would have thought even a blank bullet would do a lot of damage at that close range

Meltedicicle · 09/09/2018 22:17

Wondering if the bomb wasn’t in the briefcase-Tahir was told to go backstage so it looked like he had the bomb in the suitcase but actually the bomb was already in there at the front of the stage, timed to go off during the speech. Maybe why the new home sec assured macDonald no trace of explosives would be found in his office etc because the explosives were never linked to the briefcase in the first place.

Hassled · 09/09/2018 22:17

I didn't really get the significance of the CCTV right at the end - Budd and Mahmood speaking, Mahmood moving off - and then what? I saw no tiny nods.

Also - when are they going to work out the sniper was Budd's former army pal? Surely they'd have been on it by now? Wouldn't they have worked out whether the source of the bomb definitely was or was not the briefcase by now? Why has no one mentioned the late-arriving journalist? These police are shite.

Urbanbeetler · 09/09/2018 22:19

Kim? The police officer who ran to the front and was killed - she started running which made Dave follow - the bomb went where she was. Perhaps it was on her?

Defrack · 09/09/2018 22:20

I just googled it and if he fired the gun, the gas that comes out the barrel would have killed him regardless of if it was a blank.

SerialNameChangerMe · 09/09/2018 22:21

I think we have to not forget about the girl who was sacked early on. The one seen getting into a big Range Rover with a driver of some kind. I didn't trust her from the start.

Possibly barking up the wrong tree...

poundoflard · 09/09/2018 22:22

I sobbed when Dave/David hugged his kids. I actually sobbed

Urbanbeetler · 09/09/2018 22:22

Oh yes- someone came straight away to get her in blacked out window Range Rover. Hmmm.

Hassled · 09/09/2018 22:23

Oh blimey yes - Kim. Could she have been running to be a bomb rather than to stop a bomb?

Urbanbeetler · 09/09/2018 22:23

I just thought, what good children. They heard hiim say he needed a hug and no questions, they hugged him. Kids are great.

LoisWilkerson1 · 09/09/2018 22:24

Ooh it's very good. Shock Roll on next week.

SerialNameChangerMe · 09/09/2018 22:24

Urbanbeetler That's exactly what my husband said Smile

squirrelclub · 09/09/2018 22:25

I have a feeling you could be right about Kim.

I also don't think the Home Sec is dead either.

I reckon there's something to whoever the wife's new bloke is as well.

Urbanbeetler · 09/09/2018 22:25

Mine may not have given there was pizza! Grin
