Thought it was excellent, though did anyone else think that Keeley Hawes sounded a bit like Teresa May.

nocoolnamesleft. I have just ordered Cardiac Arrest off Ebay, I must have completely missed that series when it was on, I see he also did the excellent 'Bodies' which is one of my favourite ever TV series, also loved LOD

topcat2014 · 27/08/2018 08:06

Jed Mercurio was a doctor, afaik, and hence his breakout was Cardiac Arrest.

The train scenes were filmed at a 'heritage' railway, given that people had to go onto the tracks etc - so that explained the 1960's locomotive, I suppose.

I read the piece by Amber Rudd in the Times. Our main protagonist is called 'Budd'..

I saw from the screenshot that KH character was born/from Cheltenham. Amber Rudd went to Cheltenham Ladies College.

I think the fired intern will be some kind of spy

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/08/2018 08:11

Excited for this one- great first episode, I just hope the twists start next week and it isn’t just they fall for eachother and he can’t go ahead with killing her

PaintBySticker · 27/08/2018 08:14

@weepat “I'm all for equality but that was a bit extreme.!”

Why? If all those parts had been played by men no-one would have questioned it. The main character is a man and he’s getting most of the screen time.

PaintBySticker · 27/08/2018 08:18

I can understand the concerns about using a woman in a hijab as the potential bomber. But I think maybe we haven’t seen the last of Nadia and it won’t be as simple as all that.

Oh yes and husband and I both commented that we’ve never seen a train like that on the way to Euston Grin

MrsGrindah · 27/08/2018 08:21

I thought it was really disappointing and clunky. The first 20 mins weren’t gripping at all because he had to survive. Also, when the Asian man came out of the toilet his hands were obscured so he could easily have had a device but somehow Budd instinctively knew it was safe?
Agree there is more to be revealed about the intern, but the scene where she laughed after spilling the coffee was ridiculous.

Think I’ll give it another go tonight but maybe pack it in.

topcat2014 · 27/08/2018 08:22

Pippa Haywood ("Mrs Brittas / Scott & Bailey) could end up playing more of a character - even though she has a shocking hairstyle

Mrsmadevans · 27/08/2018 08:34

'Enjoyed it despite DP telling me in great detail how he could tell the train was an old one '
Yeah mine too Hmm

Bit more info found on the train

I may be a bit over invested in this part

oldmum22 · 27/08/2018 09:34

I got totally absorbed in it, especially the first 25 minutes. I don't recognise RM (not a GoT fan) KH is such an arrogant bitch. Her total lack of charm was reflected in the "you don't have to vote for me" line. I hope they don't end up shagging or in an "us against the world" scenario, the story so far ,has so much to offer.

BMW6 · 27/08/2018 09:42

I am pretty gripped but am I the only pedant who noticed that they filmed in the same interior for his ex-wifes house and the Ministers house? Same distinctive wall lights and wall colour in both...........surely they could have used a second location for one of them!

NewUserNameTime · 27/08/2018 09:44

Several of you mention Cardiac Arrest, which I know is an old series. Anyone know where I can watch it now?

Clawdy · 27/08/2018 09:50

Yes, I couldn't believe it when the coffee-spilling girl started sniggering!

NicoAndTheNiners · 27/08/2018 09:50

I was slightly obsessing over the train inaccuracies. Was an old slam door carriage which don't have illuminating open push buttons as seen in one scene.

LightastheBreeze · 27/08/2018 09:53

I looked but Cardiac Arrest doesn't seem to be online, I ordered a second hand DVD of all three series for £8.19 including postage from eBay as that seemed the easiest solution, though it might be online somewhere, I didn't look that hard as the DVD was quite cheap

EuphoricNight · 27/08/2018 10:01

'Enjoyed it although David/Dave's constant eye narrowing to show how hard he was scanning the surroundings for danger got a bit tedious.'

Yes he seemed to be channelling Arnie in Terminator. I quite liked it, it was tense and gripping. I know we have to suspend belief a bit but seemed unlikely that such a churlish character would be assigned to personal security. You'd think social skills would be as important as security skills really.

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/08/2018 10:05

Hated it, lead actor was terrible can barely act. Thought the plot was boring and didn’t flow properly.

wowfudge · 27/08/2018 10:36

Oh well - you can't please all the people. There's always more to things in a Jed Mercurio story. DP spotted the light fittings too (passed me by but the walls were painted the same blue) and told me about the slam doors and how David and his kids were in an old first class carriage which had been adapted to look like standard class....

I think the intern - was she an intern or a SPAD? - laughed out of nervousness/dislike for KH's character. Maybe she has a rich daddy who provides the car?

mizu · 27/08/2018 11:07

Watching on iplayer - crikey that 1st 20 minutes Shock

MyNameIsJane · 27/08/2018 11:15

My heart rate was up for those first 20 minutes! I thought it was really good!

Whatfrenchplacename · 27/08/2018 11:26

What did David/Dave see the man doing on the train platform that made him suspicious? The man seemed to be rooting about in a bin.

The carriage definitely looked like 3 seats across - maybe they were travelling 'weekend first'!

I wondered whether we'd be seeing more of Nadia and her h - why otherwise have David's boss say 'not that she's saying much and he's saying nothing at all''?

Lauren0rder · 27/08/2018 11:59

Nicholas Gleaves who plays KH ex husband in this is actually married to Lesley Sharpe of Scott and Bailey......

I loved it.

I’m a bit scared of KH and I don’t know why. Possibly because of Line of Duty. I couldn’t watch The Durrells because she scares me. 😳😳😳

Magnussen · 27/08/2018 12:30

I wanted to see what happened to the nutter in suicide bomb belt!

DolorestheNewt · 27/08/2018 12:32

Magnussen She's helping the security services with their inquiries. So that's alright then.
