I am quite a few episodes behind as I can't keep up with 2 a day!

Right, I've FINALLY caught up.

Agree with Ken being an absolute shit, he just doesn't seem to have any redeeming features.

Donutface2 that picture has given me the fanny gallops

Missed yesterday's: it didn't record. Caught up with today's though. How hilarious that Derek is a peeping tom 😞

It’s funny to see Amelia Bullmore in this and watching her now on Scott And Bailey, what an improvement in her acting.

And Nicola Walker turned up in this episode

Of Scott And Bailey, not Corrie

Deirdre warning Tracey about hanging around in the cafe hoping to see Steve McDonald!

I like that the twins looks the actual age they are. If they where cast nowadays they would be played by twenty year old actors

Ugh Derek today. So Mavis confronted him on his spying on Steph & the dickhead started spouting crap about men's primeval needs & she ended up apologising to.him!!!

Funny seeing Tracey pursuing poor Steve even at that age

Is it me or is Mike Baldwin truly kind to Deirdre despite being a wanker in general, even to Alma?

Yes, he was a good friend at that point. One of the strengths of Corrie back then is that the characterisation was more subtle, and more reflective of the raage of interactions. There was less stereotyping, and more portrayal of hu man nature and how it varies.

Unfortunately, it seems that the makers no longer think there is any demand for that.

Eww... didn't like when Jim McDonald said that when Tina started stripping that he had fifty pence in his pocket (so he did) and she wasn't even a bit offended, jeez... (This was after she had her photo taken by the sleazy photographer for The Gazette).

Yes, I thought all that 'banter' about Tina being on Page 3 was nasty. Even Percy seemed to enjoy the idea!! Shock

Had to laugh at Tracy's Headteacher suggesting that Deirdre take her away for a few days in school time. Can you imagine that happening now?

Report
kikashi · 27/09/2018 20:36

I know had me laughing too. She also assumed Deirdre could afford to have a holiday.

Ken couldn't have subbed either you have to have six weeks verifiable teaching in a classroom in the past 3 years now even if you can get work as schools use the cheaper alternative of a cover supervisor these days..

What’s happened to the picture today? It’s very annoying.

Was the oicture a bit out of focus at times ? I thought it was my eyes!

I liked the closing scene of Gail shutting her eyes in her hospital bed as Ivy's ranting continued on outside the door. The argument having been stoked up by Audrey who was elsewhere. So true. I love little touches like that. I'm a bit bored already with the Curly and in laws story line. No one would have put up with that in 1990.

I am currently watching the episode where Curly and Kimberley went shopping for and bought the ring, is the actress in the late stages of pregnancy here? I thought she looked large when they were in her parents house but in Jack and Veras you can definitely see a large bump, the rest of her is very slim though?

Report
ExoticMatter · 01/10/2018 15:22

Yes, Google says she did have a baby around the time so was probably trying to hide a bumpGrin

Report
cloudyweewee · 01/10/2018 19:23

I was wondering that about Kimberley! I love the interior of Mavis and Derek's house where every last bit of decor matches.

Keep thinking how great Audrey looks in her wrap dresses (not the pink track suit).Gail has a massive hospital room to herself in the Corrie NHS tradition and a nurse with a cap! I was in hospital with some pregnancy bleeding around that time and nurses had long since stopped wearing caps, I was on an antenatal ward with mum's who had had casearian's and expected to help them with their babies and lifting/carrying etc. it kept me busy but wasn't nice for me thinking I might lose my baby (30 weeks) and visitors weren't nice about why the cot beside me was empty either. Shock

Steve in his Oe Bloogs top and Andy in his rugby shirt and light jeans took me black and Flick with her biker jacket and lycra skirt (how I dressed) ha!

Jack's excitement at the prospect of Tina moving in was gross. Makes me cringe.

Funny seeing Liz and Jenny's scenes - 30 years later, Liz will sleep with Jenny's husband.

I wonder why Simon Gregory changed his name to Gregson.
