Did anyone watch this back in the spring?

I did. I loved it albeit the ending a bit incomplete- left open for series 2.

Why is it on again so soon? I see it's on BBC Wales again tonight. It doesn't say it's a repeat but surely it can't be series 2 already?

I watched this on BBC1 just s few months ago. I waited week yo week got the next instalment. The series was 8 weeks long.
Anyone know why they are repeating this so soon?

HI 80s us Tv addicts get everywhere Grin
So the police guy is Evan brother? Or is he married to his Sister? Can’t make link.

Glad less hair flicking this week though still staged a lot. Noticed the set people had layed out plates cups and cutlery for kids before meal was ready. Yewho does that? Plus making massive side salad take them two weeks to eat before actually cooking the main meal?

FaFoutis · 20/07/2018 18:12

Also, episode 2 the mother slept in while the 2 very small daughters got the baby up (presumably changed his nappy too), got themselves dressed and made a healthy breakfast for the three of them, which they sat eating neatly and quietly in time for school. Now come on. If you can't imagine what other lives are like you have no business being a writer.

Graphista · 20/07/2018 18:12

And yes - writer is a man - quelle surprise!

FaFoutis · 20/07/2018 18:15

I just looked him up, he has children. That makes it worse.

Graphista · 20/07/2018 18:29

FaFoutis yes I thought same - suggests to me he does sod all childcare at home! His poor wife/partner.

FaFoutis · 20/07/2018 18:38

He has a 'family home' in Wales & a house in London. I know lots of male academics with a homelife like that, no wonder they get so much (unconvincing tosh) written.

FaFoutis · 20/07/2018 18:40

Plus, when upset what does a woman do? - she eats ice cream in bed. OH PLEASE, give women some fucking credit and make an effort.

The80sweregreat · 20/07/2018 18:57

A man / guessed it! Lol. A writer with women ‘that do ‘ ..

I do like the music though. Dh was rolling his eyes but I thought it was good!

The80sweregreat · 20/07/2018 18:59

The policeman BIL is married to Evan’s sister. She of the permanent scowl in epi one.

Akire · 20/07/2018 19:48

Yes more convincing if she had come down to kids PJs and watching TV while baby ate coco pops off the floor.

And while I think about it the “baby’s sits on blanket to play in corner of office” rubbish. Yes for about 27 seconds or you turn your back.

The80sweregreat · 20/07/2018 19:59

Babies never do the right thing! They have their own agenda.

FaFoutis · 20/07/2018 20:18

The last I saw she left her baby dangling off the office door in a bouncer, while she skipped off down the street in the high heels. When she leaves the baby with people she assumes their consent and does not supply them with nappies, bottles, instructions or estimated time of return.
Women with small children are vulnerable and often stretched to their limit, there's a lot of drama in that - all of it missed by this programme.

It is yet one more fabulous series set in Wales. Hinterland was filmed in Welsh and then English. Keeping Faith started out in Welsh as Un Bore Mercher, then as Keeping Faith on BBC One Wales. Its run was extended on iPlayer which is an historical moment indeed. The second series is being written by the scriptwriter. If you've not watched it then you are in for a treat. It's like Hinterland in that stories get cleared up along the way.

The cast is a combination of old and new talent, if you have seen them in anything else you will appreciate how different their characters are.

The music is by Amy Wadge who has written for Ed Sheeran, Kylie et al.

And of course the charm of Laugharne is all too evident.

HollyGibney · 20/07/2018 21:02

I'm finding her annoying and overdone BUT I have Welsh family and I do see some of the women in her portrayal of this character right down to the pouting and hair tossing. It feels very familiar to me so will probably keep watching.

Tangarine · 20/07/2018 21:43

I stumbled across this on player this evening and watched the first two, then saw this thread Smile.

Was the man at the door at the end of the first episode/start of the second one the same man she ended up in court with on his child custody case?

Nooblynoo · 20/07/2018 22:02

@Tangarine yes. Mark Lewis Jones.

Tangarine · 20/07/2018 22:22

Thank you Noobly!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 20/07/2018 22:30

I think I must be Eve Myles averse, her OTT bovine faces make me irrationally annoyed.

THIS.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 21/07/2018 00:10

I'm still a bit baffled at why she was chewing gum while trying to shag her husband!

Perdyboo · 21/07/2018 07:36

Yes Sinister! Me and hubster watched episode 2 last night, agree with all hair tossing/heels/bedroom/plates comments. Watched going Shock what is she chewing?!!
But also, who was the other solicitor screaming at and who smashed that door??!

dalmatianmad · 21/07/2018 08:32

I have enjoyed this so far!
I think eve plays a really strong character, not very real life but loving it so far!

The80sweregreat · 21/07/2018 09:06

It’s all pointing to him having an affair- maybe what we’re meant to think I suppose.

ElenaGreco123 · 21/07/2018 23:10

With nearly the entire cast of Hinterland in this programme I am forever confused. I love it.

Baby Rhodri is our favourite.

The80sweregreat · 22/07/2018 06:53

Baby Rhodri in his tiny rainmac / so sweet.

NaiceHamble · 23/07/2018 20:34

The soundtrack is really testing my patience. if it isn't mournful mooing, it's crap-tacular sub-Beverley Craven ballads for minutes at a time while Faith does nothing other than stare over harbours and smell candles pensively.

Also, no one's husband ever buys them 'tubs of anti-cellulite cream' for anniversary presents, except in sitcoms written by blokes.
