Did anyone watch this back in the spring?

I did. I loved it albeit the ending a bit incomplete- left open for series 2.

Why is it on again so soon? I see it's on BBC Wales again tonight. It doesn't say it's a repeat but surely it can't be series 2 already?

I watched this on BBC1 just s few months ago. I waited week yo week got the next instalment. The series was 8 weeks long.
Anyone know why they are repeating this so soon?

'Interesting to observe how female critics, irritated by the character Myles plays, transfer their frustration into criticism of Myles herself. They don't do that with male roles, indeed Baldini even gets a fan club'.

Why wouldn't he get a fan club? He's hot yes, but his character has been kind to Faith and tried to help find Evan when her own family won't even have her children.

No one's criticized Eve, They have criticised the character and the weird behaviour observed by the character. I don't like Evan, he got himself involved in all this, If he's dead I'm not really sad except for the kids and Faith. Doesnt mean I'm criticizing the actor tho, because like Faith/Eve they are acting and I know the difference between a character and a real person.

You are allowed to love it. I'm allowed to find it irritating yet addictive, there is a lid for every pot.

Either way I'm sticking at it to the end. I've invested too much time to not find out what's happening. But it is strangely addictive shite.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/08/2018 16:06

I mostly blame the director. But also the lip-fillers.

HannahnotAgnes · 27/08/2018 17:28

Thanks for that Nicky, very insightful. Great premise for a show, just a pity that it's not fulfilled the promise. I'll stick with it too, but think it could have been so much better.

Graphista · 30/08/2018 21:09

Shock bad enough the mil won't have the DC herself now she's testifying AGAINST Faith wrt the DC going home! What a bitch!!

HannahnotAgnes · 30/08/2018 21:51

Just watching now - she is a complete cow. Faiths acting had me in tears when she was silently crying & then her outburst.

Glad her FIL was a good egg - really like him.

nooddsocksforme · 30/08/2018 22:02

Need someone to explain what was going on in all that . Incomprehensible

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/08/2018 22:03

What the hell was that ending, so many questions:

What was Evan doing for the police
Did he really sleep with the blonde
Did Baldini just pass money from one set of gangsters to the other- problem solved?
Was Williams dodgy afterglow? How could she have such power over the other two dodgy ones from Swansea?
Was Arthur not locked in the car?

LemonRedwood · 30/08/2018 22:04

I am so angry at Evan at the end. How dare he walk out of that house with that bloody smile on his face. Disappear when you get yourself in the shit then waltz back in with a fucking smile after your wife has sorted everything out. Bloody bastard.

HannahnotAgnes · 30/08/2018 22:37

Totally agree Lemon - fucking asshole - hope she rips his head off.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 30/08/2018 22:49

Can't believe he left her that long and then turned up the minute she looked like she might cop off with Baldini

tinstar · 30/08/2018 23:14

I really enjoyed this until 10 minutes before the end when I realised this was the last episode and there were so many loose ends. Didn't really understand the ending at all. Why on earth would Evan come out of the house with a silly grin on his face - surely he'd expect Faith to be furious? I don't suppose Faith and Baldini would have worked but the chemistry between them was phenomenal.

Didn't really follow what was going on with the gangsters and the police.

Loved the theme music - anyone know what it is?

BitOutOfPractice · 30/08/2018 23:18

nicky did you write those press releases? Grin

Well I got one won’t be watching season 2.

Just one final irritation, though Faith is not the only culprit as lots of people on film and tv do it, STOP TOUCHING AND STROKING YOUR SLEEPING CHILDREN!

Misty9 · 30/08/2018 23:53

What's wrong with touching and stroking your sleeping children?? I do it to mine Confused

I really enjoyed this series. Loved the music, loved the eccentricity of Faith's character. But WTF at the ending?!! Although it makes more sense if series 2 is happening. I think it's one of the better dramas the BBC has done lately.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 31/08/2018 00:42

Yes I'm going to go and touch my sleeping DS's face now, he's just too bloody cute when he's asleep! Wink

Graphista · 31/08/2018 03:02

Think I'm gonna have to watch it all in one go if possible. Few bits I'm not sure of what happened.

Sinister - this has supposedly all happened in the course of a week?

I must admit I will watch season 2.

Nicky898 · 31/08/2018 11:53

Broke off from binge watching Ruyi's Love in the Palace to see episode ten and my thoughs are much like @Tinstar @LeamonRedwood @Graphista. I was warned the ending was a letdown but it still shocked me. Please touch your sleeping kids all you want they are all to fleeting moments to treasure.

Nicky898 · 31/08/2018 12:03

too (ooops)

Nicky898 · 31/08/2018 12:20

Found a series review which sums things up nicely

BitOutOfPractice · 31/08/2018 12:23

Why not touch your sleeping kids? Because it often wakes them up Confused

BitOutOfPractice · 31/08/2018 12:24

Maybe she was just groping around to try and find them from underneath that bloody fringe (which one minute was blow dried, the next straggly, then back to blow dried within the space of 60 seconds).

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/08/2018 15:34

So many loose ends

Tho that cot needs to be lowered or else the baby will fall out

Did mil try and kill herself. She wasn't moving /blinking

Was that Evan in the
Car - who did the handcuffing etc

So where was he hiding last week

Was he working undercover or trying to be the big man and get into money via drugs

Baldini. She should have snogged him big time

Such chemistry

Got confused with his let's kill Gail (blonde lady) yet thought was her on the phone in the car for £120k

I assume faith won't forgive Evan

FlamingJuno · 31/08/2018 22:45

Just finished this on catchup despite DH and I swearing we were giving up with it. We got it all wrong. Thought the MiL was dead, thought Morgan was a dodgy social worker, then at the end thought it was a twist and Eve and Baldini had set the whole thing up having bumped off Evan Confused.
Still have no idea who was who and what it was all about really. Can't get alongside the good mother claims by the writer and in the court scene from the FiL, she's a terrible mother. Her MiL is a terrible mother too.
The friend Lisa seemed to be a character who had strayed in from an entirely different series. She played it as if the whole thing was a spoof as did most of the baddies. Utter tosh really but the interiors were terrific.

gingina · 01/09/2018 10:37

I still kiss my 15 year old when he's asleep - it's the only time he doesn't moan at me!!!!!
I got so confused with all the money moving about and Evans family - what was up with his sister - was his mum dead????
And then he just rocks up at the end like a hero
WTF????

Nicky898 · 01/09/2018 13:25

I think we were all fooled at the end: Evan hasn't 'turned up" it's Faith experiencing a 'flash-back' to happier times pre-disappearence.

I thought Mother in Law had committed suicide too but when the camera shows her face her eyes are open shedding tears.

What I don't understand is why the grandparents didn't have the children. Both Evan's sister and mother are very strange.
Aly's video plea to her father was a gem. I thnk the children did really well and hope to see them in series 2.

Gersemi · 01/09/2018 16:13

Still working through, a few random thoughts:

If you're arranging a drugs deal, why would you meet up by driving onto a deserted beach where you'd be glaringly conspicuous?

If you can get bail for a client just by saying "I know him, he's the only one who's been helping me, he's a nice bloke", why do people bother to pay expensive QCs?

That choir that does all the humming background music needs to be shot. They always start up whenever a character is lying moodily on a table or sitting on a floor staring into space, it's blatantly obvious that the director just wants to fill in time.
