Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

Eva looked heavily pregnant. Surely her bump would have deflated a lot after the birth?

HettySunshine · 08/05/2018 07:01

I don't know housewife. I have pictures of myself a few days after giving birth and I still look pretty massive 😳

I thought that was his suicide.

As with the David storyline, I thought we don't see the act, just the moment before and then the aftermath.

He'd been saying goodbye through both episodes yesterday, so I thought the bit in the flat was him having done whatever it is (I assumed pills) and he was crying as he waited.

Housewife I didn't have a bump like Eva's after giving birth but I did have a tummy that took about five days to flatten back down.

Had you seen me before and after you would have known the difference, and I was really upset that one man said "I thought you'd given birth, have you got another one still in there?" to me. I think he got me on a hormonal day though, and I don't have the best history with birth so it stung a bit.

I don't think Eva's bump has been realistic right through though, she was massive but nobody noticed, now she's had a baby but has a firm bump.

kikashi · 08/05/2018 09:12

I'm not sure you have to "warn people."Emmerdale kept Holly's death very quiet and the episode where Moira finds her was done really well.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 08/05/2018 09:33

which is codswallop if you ask me, but anyway

Is it perhaps codswallop to you because you are fortunate enough to not have been affected by male Suicide? I was incredibly grateful for the “spoilers” on this story as someone affected by it. If you haven’t seen he spoiler for last nights episode you must have been living under a rock for the past week.

I’m glad Eva still had a bump, usually in soap land they give birth and come out of the maternity ward wearing their pre pregnancy jeans.

VanGoghsDog · 08/05/2018 09:37

I didn't "see" the spoiler, I heard it on Radio 4. Obviously I live under a rock.

Loads of tragic things on TV echo things I have experienced but I can separate fiction from my own life.

Frillyfarmer · 08/05/2018 09:50

Well you heard it, same difference - it was given because they knew it was triggering - whether it was triggering for you personally is not in question.

Mammyloveswine · 08/05/2018 09:52

I too found it incredibly moving with Eva and Aiden. The end just got me Sad

As for that waitress and Craig... erm wtf? Where were they? I thought she worked at yasmeens grandsons new place but that looked like the bistro!

I hate Toyah and the ridiculous surrogacy storyline... she didn't even consult with Peter about the name! And you would be bending over backwards to thank the surragate surely?? Poor Eva

SophieGiroux · 08/05/2018 09:59

I can't stand today's Corrie, well too depressing. I love watching Classic Corrie on ITV3, 2 episodes a day, it's currently at 1988. Sally and Kev as young uns, Bet behind the bar, Rita in t'Kabin and a 17 year old Jenny Bradley Grin

ajandjjmum · 08/05/2018 10:01

Brilliantly acted - very moving. So sad that Eva and Aiden aren't going to walk off into the sunset together. Sad

ajandjjmum · 08/05/2018 10:05

it was Speed Daal Mammy, but I had to look for the name, as they looked so similar.

I think Toyah and Peter had previously agreed on the name, to honour Peter's twin who died, Susan.

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 08/05/2018 10:39

Poor Aiden :(

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 08/05/2018 10:41

@CoolCarrie Florence and the Machine - Cosmic Love (if you're referring to the one that Eva and Aiden danced to)

blueskypink · 08/05/2018 10:42

I really don't agree. I can think of 3 young men locally who have taken their lives in recent years. I didn't know any of them personally but as a mother of young men I find it very upsetting and terrifying given that a common theme is that they happened 'out of the blue'.

That doesn't mean I personally need a warning not to watch this sort of storyline but it does make me appreciate how someone who had been personally affected might do.

thenightsky · 08/05/2018 10:53

Last night's was really well acted by Shane W. Made me weep a bit. Were we meant to believe that Aiden had figured out that baby Suzie was his? He must have spotted baby stuff in Eva's cottage (nappies in the bin or something) and put two and two together.

Emma198 · 08/05/2018 10:58

My husband has had seven friends commit suicide throughout his 20s and 30s, each one out of the blue. I'm pleased they warned in advance - can you imagine being the parent to a young man who has ended his life and then tuning in tomorrow none the wiser? Also starts the conversation sooner, it's such an important topic.

millimat · 08/05/2018 11:03

I've not watched last night's yet, so not read comments but joining chat.

Evangeline3 · 08/05/2018 12:06

@thenightsky No he doesn't know that baby Suzie is Eva's or in fact, his.
Eva told him the father was Adam and she still looks heavily pregnant so he thinks she's still carrying the baby.
As Suzie was premature, perfectly plausible.

Evangeline3

Do we know that, though? I think the whole point was that know one really knows what he knows, and now we never will. It’s the eternal torment left.

Hygge · 08/05/2018 12:30

Peter chose Suzie's name weeks ago when Toyah told him that "Jackie" was having a girl.

Eva had just had a scan and found out the baby was a girl, so Toyah told Peter and he said he would like to call her Suzie as a tribute to his sister, Susan, who was Adam's mum and who died in the crash Billy and his friends caused.

So when Toyah introduced the baby, she used the name that Peter chose and they had agreed on.

It's going to make the deception just that bit more cruel if/when it all comes out. Peter believes the baby is his, and has named her for his twin sister. It will hurt him so badly to have her taken away, to find out she's not his child, and if Eva takes the baby back I suspect she will also want to change the name, perhaps to something Aiden would have liked or in honour of him. But that will take away the tribute to Peter's sister and make it even worse for him.

Housewife2010 · 08/05/2018 13:06

Aiden definitely knows that Susie is his. I'm watching it a 2nd time (it was so good). There are so many looks between him and Toyah. He had a look of shock and recognition when Toyah took Susie off him in the pub.

ChocolateDoll · 08/05/2018 13:09

Obviously I live under a rock!!

I had no idea the storyline was coming, and still didn’t after watching last night’s episodes Confused

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 08/05/2018 13:30

I avoid spoilers and didn’t realise thats what was building up last night. However I’m glad I now know because if that had hit me out of the blue whilst watching I’d have had a pretty hard reaction to it. i will still watch but I’m prepared For it now. I’ve lost people to suicide so maybe a bit too close to home.

bringbacksideburns · 08/05/2018 13:34

He's a very talented guy Shane Ward. Very sensitively done I thought but very effective.
