Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

I thought it was a fantastic but harrowing episode but can't help feel it came out of nowhere more if a build up perhaps

Gutted he's gone I would of loved a fairy tale with him and Eva

therockinggazelle · 07/05/2018 22:27

When I heard about it last week I thought it was ridiculous that there was no hints up to now. But actually the episode was good. He played the end scene very well. But the next few episodes have to be up to scratch to do it any justice.

There was so much hope there with him and Eva and the baby. It was frustrating he couldn't see that. But I think the reality is lots of people don't see any hope. They are too far gone. I thought also the scene when he tried to get Kate to stay was sad, he held her hand a bit longer. Very subtle.

I think that's the point. True to real life, sometimes there are no signs and it seems totally unexpected. In fact, I think I found it more harrowing for that very reason. Still in tears 10 minutes after the episode finished. The last scene in the pub was brilliantly acted by Shayne Ward.

blueskypink · 07/05/2018 22:37

Mrssun - I think that's the point though. Quite often when people commit suicide friends and family say it came out of the blue. I can think of one young man I knew of who killed him self in his early 20s. Handsome, great sense of fun, lovely girlfriend, very talented musician, good job, loving family etc. His younger brother came home from school one day and found him hanging. Nobody saw it coming.

Theowlthecatandthemoon · 07/05/2018 22:38

Place marking

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 07/05/2018 22:38

Ok so I am assuming aiden is leaving? Via suicide? Hmm (thought this was no spoilers thread?)

blueskypink · 07/05/2018 22:39

PurpleSea - yes you're right I think that does make it more harrowing. You can see so many missed opportunities for someone to intervene - if only they knew ... I'm sure that must be the same in real life. Friends and family must torture themselves with 'if only'

110thStreet · 07/05/2018 22:42

No spoilers? it was quite clear in tonghts episode.

They can act well we know that from the live episodes. Its the writing that lets it down.

catherinedevalois · 07/05/2018 22:42

I haven't seen the last few episodes, need to catch up! Thanks for the new thread.

Hygge · 07/05/2018 22:43

I think this will be the motivation for Eva to take the baby back.

Perhaps not immediately, but soon.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 07/05/2018 22:43

Shit, I can’t get tonight’s episode out of my head. Last week when I heard the spoilers I was angry and I knew it would be triggering, but it was done so well. Male suicide is a huge issue in the sector I work in, and the inevitable “but he was so happy, we never saw it coming” is why it’s a brilliant storyline.

But so sad because I love both aiden and Eva and the street will be worse for losing them.

helloBuddy · 07/05/2018 22:44

Really really upsetting episode to watch but very true to life, I think Shayne Ward played it well. It's good that Corrie did this storyline as it's happening so often and more so in men.

I hate the baby storyline, it's not realistic and takes away from the real issue of Suicide. I hope Eva gets the baby back and leaves with her.

AgentCooper · 07/05/2018 22:44

Christ, that was really sad tonight. Fantastic acting from Shayne Ward, though, really sensitive performance. You wouldn't think that was the wee guy who won the X Factor!

Wednesday is going to be a tough episode Sad

Bellini12 · 07/05/2018 22:45

I’m just a little baffled. I saw the episode where Eva told Aiden she was pregnant with his baby then the next thing I know he’s acting like he isn’t bothered. Did she change her mind and say it was not his?

The fact she always wore tight dresses but then had this huge bump and her own sister didn’t notice was very distracting!

Did Aidan really not realise it was his baby or just felt it was for the best that he didn’t get involved (as he was clearly severely depressed?).

PurpleSea · 07/05/2018 22:50

Bellini she went back and said it was actually Adam's baby.

Akire · 07/05/2018 22:50

The more I think he does know about baby. Surely first question would be how are you? How’s baby? Even if he can’t be with her he has rights with baby.

Would he really give her and baby up? Argh wish it was clearer.

Hygge · 07/05/2018 22:54

Aiden asked her why he should believe her when the baby could just as easily be Adam's baby.

I think now that this was because of what he had planned, and it worked because she went back to him later on and 'confessed' that the baby was Adam's but he had rejected her and the baby, so she had turned to Aiden.

I think she even said "can't blame a girl for trying" to him.

I think he always believed her though, and he knows the baby is his daughter, but he couldn't say so because that would have made it even harder for him to go through with this.

Clawdy · 07/05/2018 23:05

Shayne Ward will be missed, he's a very good actor. Extremely moving tonight. Dreadful bit of acting from Kate getting drunk though. And how improbable was the Craig -Bethany - Waitress triangle!?

Evangeline3 · 07/05/2018 23:06

I don't think Aiden knows Suzie is his baby. He meant he was keeping Eva's pregnancy quiet as she still (luckily) looks heavily pregnant.
And he also meant he wouldn't tell anyone about her being in the cottage and not in America.
I think Eva will take baby Suzie and run off, and so he should! Will be get reminder of Aiden

ChocolateDoll · 07/05/2018 23:17

What on Earth? I had no clue Aiden was dead at the end of that.

It was a very moving episode, and he was clearly in a mess, but I was waiting to see what he might do next.

Scrabbler3 · 07/05/2018 23:28

Shayne W was brilliant.

The actress who plays Kate is poor. And the waitress fancying Craig is unlikely - he's very nice but he's the sort of man who grows on women rather than making an initial impact imo.

VanGoghsDog · 07/05/2018 23:32

No, he wasn't dead at the end, he was crying.

MyBeloved · 08/05/2018 00:00

I'm glad I didnt watch it. Sounds like a harrowing episode.

ChocolateDoll · 08/05/2018 00:01

I thought so! Thought I was going mad then, after reading all this Confused

Assuming he’s going to commit suicide then? Hmm

VanGoghsDog · 08/05/2018 00:09

It's been all over the media @Chocolate. I'm not sure I'd have clocked it from today's episode and would have preferred not to have the spoiler but apparently with such a "triggering" storyline, they "have to" (which is codswallop if you ask me, but anyway....).
