Thought I'd start a new one as we're not far off and there'll be much to talk about this week, I I fear.

My comment about it being 'codswallap' was that they "had to" give a spoiler (which people on the previous thread kept asserting, and you have too) - there is no 'had to' at all. They may have preferred to, they may understand that some people can't separate fiction from reality. They may have done it for viewing figures (as if.....). But it is clear they did not 'have to'.

When I said on the previous thread they had to I thought it was clear by that that the producers were obliged to do the warning. But it’s all semantics anyway. I’ve never had anyone in my life commit suicide but if I had and wasn’t aware of what was going to happen then I’m sure I’d have been grateful for the warning.

VanGoghsDog · 08/05/2018 16:18

I think the point is, we will 'understand' on Wednesday.

Akire · 08/05/2018 16:58

What he didn’t die??? No spoilers!!!

PurpleSea · 08/05/2018 17:08

I recognise the waitress from somewhere else - any idea where from? Or maybe it's just that she reminds me of Katie...

ajandjjmum · 08/05/2018 17:25

She is like Katie - I hadn't realised who she reminded me of. Hopefully she'll have a good role - she has some spark!

AdamBarlowsQuiff · 08/05/2018 18:10

Ha ha thanks @zibbidoozibbidoozibbidoo I did wonder if I need a name change now! I think there's got to be more to come tomorrow surely as the writers wouldn't have known what would be leaked /revealed when they wrote the episodes. I actually wondered if the ending was supposed to have been before the starting - where he was sat staring with the coffee machine running..but that wouldn't be very corrie.

deadringer · 08/05/2018 19:28

Just checking in too. Poor Aidan, poor Eva, and poor Peter when he finds out. And he will find out.

Hygge · 08/05/2018 19:43

Don't google the new waitress to find out why she looks familiar unless you do want to find out another big spoiler about what is to come.

Hygge · 08/05/2018 19:45

The new waitress has previously acted in something called Love Lies and Records, and been in some stage theatre, but in finding that out I found out a massive plot spoiler I really wasn't expecting.

Best not to look her up just yet.

DarkDarkNight · 08/05/2018 19:59

Just joining the new thread to say how moving I found last night's Corrie. I thought Shayne Ward played the part very well. To me it seemed he definitely knew that was his baby, and as somebody has already said upthread he was saying to Eva he was ok with what she decided.

Looking back I can see a few elements that were part of this story arc, like Aiden and Sophie consoling each other. I wondered what that was about at the time. I completely missed the intercepted letter though, I can't recall seeing that.

It is a shame that along with a storyline like this we have the ridiculous surrogate plot. Would anybody seriously try to ge away with something like this? So many loose ends, real birth certificates, fake birth certificates. Is it even legal? I feel tired at the thought of it all coming out.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 08/05/2018 20:09

I wonder if Aidens suicide will be the wake up call to David that he needs to speak out about the rape? He was close to harming himself a couple of weeks ago, it could be what drives him to talk because as it stands I don’t think he would ever tell anyone.

LoveMySituation · 08/05/2018 20:14

Last night's episodes have been with me all day. Shayne was amazing, the 'out of the blue' ness was really well done. I got this in my email today. I thought you all might like to see it
here

LoveMySituation · 08/05/2018 20:16

That's not the right one! I'll try again

HettySunshine · 08/05/2018 20:16

The spoilers thread is here:

If you has been unaware if the suicide spoiler, I do not think you would have thought Monday's episode ended with a death, just a very miserable man alone on his sofa. And yes, there are some people who really do avoid spoilers, and I very much hope not too many of them are in this thread. Perhaps it would be worth asking MNHQ to add a warning that this one does contain spoilers for the rest of this week?

LoveMySituation · 08/05/2018 20:18

here

GlacindaTheTroll · 08/05/2018 20:20

Some MNetters had pinged something was up - discussed in a thread from a month or so ago:

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 08/05/2018 20:20

It stayed with me all day too Love

LoveMySituation · 08/05/2018 20:20

Thanks Hetty Grin Second one not right either. BRB

LoveMySituation · 08/05/2018 20:22

Bingo!

ChevalierTialys · 08/05/2018 23:18

Poor Eva as well Sad she's going to be so devastated when she realises. He wasn't proposing, he was saying goodbye. She'll think she could have said something to change his mind, like she could have saved him. And she's given away his baby, so now she has nothing of him. I think she'll do a runner with the baby. Not sure how you wouldn't in her position tbh.

PurpleSea · 08/05/2018 23:54

Thanks for the waitress info, Hygge.

I'm another one who has had last night's ep in my head all day. Tomorrow's is going to be very hard to watch.

CoolCarrie · 09/05/2018 06:59

Excellent poem, Love. Thanks for posting

woolythoughts · 09/05/2018 09:00

Am I the only one who noticed an inconsistency in the second episode.

Half way through Kevin announces Rita coming up to the bar and introduces her as Mrs Tanner.

ASFAIK she has never been Mrs Tanner!
