Programmes that never get repeated

Every Easter I hope (in vain) that The Passion will be repeated on tv. It was in the late 1990's with Gina McKee and Paul Nichols and set in Devon, never even been released on dvdConfused. Does anyone else remember it? What other programmes have only been on once and you'd like to see again?

I remember Maelstrom, I know it scared me at the time.
Armchair thriller really scared me- was probably to young by far to be watching it. Sapphire and Steele was another one.

Every series of Juat Good Friends was repeated on a freeview channell last year.

HesterLee · 30/03/2018 22:39

I remember The Living Soap. I think one of the girls was going out with Jason Orange (pre Take That).
I also loved The Secret Life of Us - have the first 3 series on DVD.

I would love to see Crown Court again. And Gems.

SarahSiddons · 30/03/2018 22:49

@gatekeeper “and a series with Peter Davidson whose title escapes me, where he is a university GP on a horrible campus in the '80s” Haven’t seen if someone has answered but that was A Very Peculiar Practice.

RomanMum · 30/03/2018 23:16

So many good ones here! How about Chimera, about genetic engineering between human and gorilla DNA. Also am I the only person who remembers Captain Zep Space Detective? Never been repeated.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 30/03/2018 23:26

Quantum Leap! poor Sam never found his way home Sad

Becca19962014 · 31/03/2018 10:54

Quantum leap has been sometimes repeated, not sure on what channel and they were released on DVD. I love quantum leap!

After ages of trying to work out what it was called I eventually managed to find (and buy) forever green on DVD (it was the Sunday night drama late 80s). I've not watched it yet so no idea how it'll fare compared to memories!

Becca19962014 · 31/03/2018 10:56

And the ending for quantum leap gets me every time I see it! (I have them all on DVD).

I saw an interview with Scott bakula not long ago and he was complaining that he still gets people going on about Sam not going home and how it was mean. They did two endings, one where he did, but him not going home was seen as more appropriate Sad

Becca19962014 · 31/03/2018 10:58

80s version of beauty and the beast tv series took forever to get to DVD. When it was released I had them all, even the crappy last season, on pre-order and knew the frustration of release dates constantly changing!

I am overjoyed to have them. Likewise The Good Life (again took ages to be completely released).

lodybotion · 31/03/2018 11:04

Yes to Bernard and the Genie, and Pulling.
Anyone remember Crime Traveller, or Sliders? Harry and Cosh?

AmethystRaven · 31/03/2018 11:17

Not quite the same but I'd really like to see the first few series of Strictly Come Dancing again, before the props and the daft 'in training' bits. I think its got too big for itself now and lost something along the way.

I enjoyed Hearts and Bones on BBC years ago. Damien Lewis was in it, and I think Amanda Holden.

Harbour Lights with Nick Berry was great (only according to me, it was widely hated!)

shortsaint · 31/03/2018 12:06

Another one - Moonlighting. I LOVED it, though was always perplexed that Cybill S was always shot in soft focus. Also it had really bad continuity - like mikes showing and different shoes on. I remember noticing this even as a child.. Bet it has dated.

LIZS · 31/03/2018 12:15

Moonlighting was fun, LA Law was another.

prampushingdownthehighst · 31/03/2018 12:56

So pleased that others remember The Secret Life of Us...and it reminded me of another great programme "Prospects" I think Gary Olsen was in it, had a cracking theme tune.I did manage to get a dvd copy but it was really terrible quality.

ParadiseLaundry · 31/03/2018 14:03

I bought Bernard and the Genie for DH a few Christmases ago as we both had fond memories of watching it as children. We could only get it in a Region 1 DVD though, which luckily we had. We both really enjoyed it again!

I do remember Sliders, it was great!

beasternunny · 31/03/2018 14:10

Friday on my mind, a 3-part BBC Series starring Christopher Eccelston from 1992. Never shown again but scores 7.4 on IMDB.

PhilHarmonic · 31/03/2018 15:29

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Yeah I know you can get it on DVD but would love to see it repeated on TV.

And American Gothic with Gary Cole.

I only saw a few of these when they were televised but would like to see it again in full.

Ginger1982 · 31/03/2018 16:35

RJnomore1 · 31/03/2018 16:47

RJnomore1 · 31/03/2018 16:48

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 31/03/2018 17:48

I agree Becca the end of QL was really sad I do wish he managed to find home, to think to this day he is still leaping from life to life Sad I do know it’s not real.......Wink

TonTonMacoute · 31/03/2018 18:08

Boys from the Blackstuff. When it was first screened everyone was talking about it, but I’ve never seen it since.

Alan Bleasdale also did another series in the 90s, with Robert Lindsay and Michael Palin. Again, everyone was obsessed by it, but it has vanished into obscurity,

The80sweregreat · 31/03/2018 18:18

Game on had Ronnie from eastenders in it I believe.
I could be thinking of something else though.

LockedOutOfMN · 31/03/2018 19:05

The80sweregreat
EastEnders had Mandy from Game On in. Wink Grin
