Programmes that never get repeated

Every Easter I hope (in vain) that The Passion will be repeated on tv. It was in the late 1990's with Gina McKee and Paul Nichols and set in Devon, never even been released on dvdConfused. Does anyone else remember it? What other programmes have only been on once and you'd like to see again?

@tossdaily Coupling is on Netflix at the moment

OutsideContextProblem · 29/03/2018 23:31

After Henry the radio series gets repeated on 4Xtra every now and then.

I’d make a case for Darkplace and Nigtingales, which hardly anyone has ever seen.

London Live is a great haven for shows like Coupling and the brilliant Ultraviolet (Idris Elba’s big break).

The one people often moan about is The Goodies, but having watched the DVDs I can confirm that the combination of an intrusive laugh track, and very dated gay and “ethnic” jokes means it’s not repeatable as a whole episode even though it’s great in places.

dingdongdigeridoo · 29/03/2018 23:36

Oh wow, As If! I remember that one thismeansnothing. It was sooooo early 2000s with Sooz and her grotty colourful dreadlocks.

Metrosexuality is probably the most obscure TV show I remember and I don’t think anyone else watched it! It was about a group of friends made up of gay, lesbian, bi etc friends in London and it was really groundbreaking for the time. It also featured Poi from Show Me, Show Me as a lesbian, and when I watched CBeebies with my DS I was trying to work out for ages what I’d seen her in!

Flightywoman · 29/03/2018 23:39

outsidecontext oh Ultraviolet was fab!

I have it on DVD.

LockedOutOfMN · 30/03/2018 01:06

Game On?

Tigresswoods · 30/03/2018 06:07

Yes yes to Game on!

I watched May to December about 8y ago while on mat leave. Personally I couldn't understand why she was with him.

Idbemonica1 · 30/03/2018 07:18

Yes, another one who'd like Blake's 7 repeated - used to have quite a thing for TarrantBlush. Some episodes are on YouTube.

'Seeing Red', it had Sarah Lancashire in

Idbemonica1 · 30/03/2018 07:33

Thanks dingdongdigeridoo but my passion was set in Devon with a cool Supergrass soundtrack if i remember correctlyHmm
Thanks to another mumsnet thread I'm really enjoying watching ER again, it is a little dated though; lot's of '90's ties and people using pagers/payphones Smile

Blake’s 7 I had a thing for Avon

BeachyUmbrella · 30/03/2018 07:57

The Brittas Empire about life in a leisure centre. I loved that! And Drop the Dead Donkey!

Marmite27 · 30/03/2018 08:05

We have coupling, this life and drop the dead donkey on dvd.

We waited years for this life and still love it.

Coincidentally we had a coupling moment last night with a Jenny Agata moment Grin

bluebell1981 · 30/03/2018 08:16

Coupling's on Netflix!

LottieandSeth · 30/03/2018 08:19

Why has ER never been shown again ? Loved the early stuff with Doug and Mark.

duckling84 · 30/03/2018 08:24

Oh I loved the Brittas empire

Also Raised by Wolves, one of the few programs dh and I would watch together

Idbemonica1 · 30/03/2018 08:31

LottieandSeth ER is on CBS drama (I think) started from the beginning about a month ago, on series 2 at the moment.

Ballykissangel - I loved it! I was at uni at the time, but came home every weekend, and my parents would have recorded the previous Sunday's episode for me to watch on the Friday evening.

LottieandSeth · 30/03/2018 10:30

Thanks you Idbemonica1 !! I've found it and I'm made up !

knottybeams · 30/03/2018 10:32

Cardiac Arrest 90s hospital drama by the bloke who wrote Bodies and Line of Duty while he was still a doctor. Gritty as hell, suspect only medics could bear watching it!

knottybeams · 30/03/2018 10:34

Drop the dead donkey was great but always had a topical thread running through it, so would be tricky to show again. Would love a reprise though

confusedandemployed · 30/03/2018 10:38

Ooh I came on to say Life without George.

Hear hear to Drop the dead donkey, Brittas empire, Dear John.

How about Sorry with Ronnie Corbett?! I loved that in a kind of morbid fascination way. I also loved Just Good Friends and Robin of Sherwood but they do occasionally get shown. The River with David Essex is never shown either (but I have the DVD 😊)

OutsideContextProblem · 30/03/2018 10:40

Drop the Dead Donkey was repeated on London live. The topical stuff should be a problem but actually I really enjoyed it.

One show I’m curious to see because I missed it originally is Joking Apart - Steven Moffat’s first sitcom.

BonnieF · 30/03/2018 10:46

Another vote for Brass Eye.

Nonce sense!

I’m a big fan of edgy comedy, but unfortunately I think Brass Eye would be waaaaay too close to the edge for the professionally offended safe-space brigade on social media in 2018.

CurbsideProphet · 30/03/2018 10:50

At Home With The Braithwaites. I loved it Smile

southeastdweller · 30/03/2018 10:57

At least a lot of these mentioned are on YouTube or on DVD unlike the wonderful BBC series that Paul Nicholls did about 15 years ago called This Thing Called Love. I agree about Life Without George too. Such a shame about Simon Cadell dying so young.
