Programmes that never get repeated

Every Easter I hope (in vain) that The Passion will be repeated on tv. It was in the late 1990's with Gina McKee and Paul Nichols and set in Devon, never even been released on dvdConfused. Does anyone else remember it? What other programmes have only been on once and you'd like to see again?

The precursor to 'Big Brother' was indeed 'The Living Soap'. One episode a week, Friday evening; six assorted students studying at institutions in Manchester. A lad called Dan very sensibly walked away quite early on - not sure how many of the other five stayed with it for the year.

Touch the Truck was real!

Liĺlies on BBC. Liverpool actresses. Loved it.

Eggzandbacon · 30/03/2018 19:10

I remember Spider - it didn’t last though didn’t it? Issues with filming and I think they all started to drop out from all the grief they were getting.

Katurah · 30/03/2018 19:11

The Passion is available on dvd. We use it to teach easter week at school. It's superb.

dingdongdigeridoo · 30/03/2018 19:14

I remember touch the truck. It was awful! It’s quite a common game in America where local car dealers have these contests. I dunno why they thought it’d be good TV.

I wonder what happened to the students from the living soap. Doesn’t seem to be any info online about them.

The Peter Davison thing was en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Very_Peculiar_Practice

One of the first channel 5 programs I think. If the TV channels could get away with doing one of those dance off's they would, people have died doing them.

"Between The Lines" .loved it .
Even the theme music . Never seen it repeated though but it's hell of a dated now .

" A Sense of Guilt" , Trevor Eve

TheDukesOfHazzard · 30/03/2018 19:35

I was going to mention a very peculiar practice but actually it was my parents who thought it was brilliant and I wonder if I sort of caught it off them - I can't remember it that well (was young)

Same goes for the Innes book of records.

TheDukesOfHazzard · 30/03/2018 19:36

I liked dear john.

Oh! Eldorado!!!! That was fab Grin

AllertonRoad · 30/03/2018 19:37

Glad it wasn’t just me - yes it was The Living Soap. No one has ever remembered it when I’ve talked about it.
So many thoughts have now been unlocked. I’d sat there was about 100 people watching it.

hotstepper4 · 30/03/2018 19:44

There was this psychological mystery drama on Channel 1 about 5 years ago, it was called 'What Remains' it was bloody brilliant and I've never found it again 😔

HarrietSchulenberg · 30/03/2018 19:44

applecatchers36 Brass Eye is on All 4. I was watching Cake the other day.

beargrass · 30/03/2018 19:46

"The Tourist Trap". It was on C4 and I don't think it was ever repeated

ElspethFlashman · 30/03/2018 19:50

As If! Sooz and her dreadlocks! That was very good, she tried to end her own life and it really showed the repurcussions and how hard it was for everyone to get over.
.
I often remember how many hous I spent watching Duty Free and would like to see it again to check its as wobbly as i remember but its never repeated. Someone was forever being thrust into a beige sliding built in wardrobe.

Duty Free was repeated on ITV3 a few years ago I think.

ButtMuncher · 30/03/2018 20:06

There was a 2 parter programme in 2001 called The Jury - maybe 2002 - but I loved it. I've never seen it repeated or released. Featured a jury (funny that) but explored the background of why they felt it was so hard doing the service. I think it was a contentious case.

There was also a reality type tv programme on bbc which had people try supernatural experiments (might have been called supernatural) but loved that too (I was 18 Grin)

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 30/03/2018 20:18

Our Friends In The North televised in the 90's on BBC2. It starred Gina McKee, Christopher Eccleston, Daniel Craig and Mark Strong. It was superb and it spanned generations with the appropriate music played as a back drop to each era. It finished with a poignant scene featuring Daniel C in present day walking away to the tune of Oasis's Don't Look Back In Anger, which obviously was current at the time. Never seen it repeated anywhere. Sort of glad in a way as it was such a treasure but would absolutely watch it again if repeated Smile

AllertonRoad · 30/03/2018 20:20

ButtMuncher The Jury was brilliant. Was it Steven Macintosh? A fine actor.
